Allowing natural laughter from the actors was such a key strength of the show. It really made you feel like you were just hanging out with the characters.
Also gets past the ever-present laugh track from what feels like every show of that era.
Hanging out down the street
@@michaelbird9148 there was a live audience though. Still felt more natural (in my opinion) than some canned laugh track where there's just emptiness after dialogue..
@@_Ty__ You do know that when there is a live studio audience, they still play the canned laughter to influence the audience into laughing
@@lh9591 the same old thing we did last week
The master in this scene is Topher Grace. His deadpan reactions while everyone else goes nuts is what comedic timing is all about. That guy deserved an Emmy.
Underrated actor, he sucked in spiderman 3 tho
@@ricardoh87 that was down to studio interference causing bad direction; when you have a bad script there's not much fixing it in movies
@@SteamPaladin it's a great movie
@@ricardoh87 he didn't. You just didn't like the movie.
@@ricardoh87 Well, most of Spiderman 3 was weak for sure. But I think he was miscast in that role.
“The good news is, as a duck you can move more easily through the water.” - Ironically the most intelligent thing Kelso has ever said. 😂
Bears are faster swimmers than ducks.
@@captainjefferies9047 well, at least he’s gorgeous. No homo
@@captainjefferies9047 But can they dive as deep?
@@shalomamigos Much deeper.
His delivery is so sincere too. It's perfect.
I really love that the cast smiles and laughs at the others jokes. It makes it way more realistic.
@@mbuagbabba9492 Nah they genuinely break a lot of the time
This show had so much of this 😂
Will never be topped
@Mbu Agbabba no it's called actual laughing i know in Africa you don't have much to laugh about tho so you don't know what it's like
@Mbu Agbabba a lot of comedy shows with laugh tracks force the actors to remain stone faced during funny scenes. That's not how people interact with their friends.
@@deusvult6920 the fuck is wrong with you dude?
The best thing about this is that it almost feels like improv. Like, the laughter from Prepon in particular seems genuine and in general everyone's delivery feels quite natural.
I like to think some moments were improvised.
Prepon has always made me feel like she couldn’t hold her laughter on and its awesome
The new cast from That 90s Show could literally never pull this moment off...it's so cringe and not funny
@@Mike-fd1lq I think this is unfair. The new cast had 10 episodes. That is not enough time for a new sitcom to find its footing. So many cable sitcoms have iffy first seasons of like 20-episodes while the cast figures out their characters and how they interact with each other. Sitcoms are all about chemistry, and that takes time.
I think there's some potential in the new cast. There were some elements and moments I enjoyed. While it's always hard to make a sequel like this and I don't know if I can honestly say I could see the new cast making scenes this funny, I do think if they had the chance to develop their characters and chemistry more that the show could be good.
@@mwyzhowever this show was funny by like the 3rd or 4th episode. Regardless that 90s show is a parody version of that 70s show that just isn’t genuine or original in the slightest.
“You’re gonna have to leave town”
“Why?”
“CUZ WE’RE GONNA TELL EVERYONE”
That’s a sign of true friendship 😂😂😂
The best scene imo is the "Eric! you are a god!" xD
"...god I say!"
That scene was pretty legendary.
Absolute madness that scene!!!
Two words…Tater Nuts. Same episode.
@@Gman44324 A wise man once said knw thyself.. That mans name was tater nuts!
The fact that Eric keeps a straight face the entire time is incredible because that was legit laughing from the others
Such an underrated BURN moment. Kelso's delayed reaction is PRICELESS
real tough guy hiding behind a fake account
Kelso and donna playing Cat's Cradle is everything I needed today. Kids these days wont ever know how addicting that was.
Oh noooo what will we ever dooooo
@@Nopenopenope6969 Something on our phones, unfortunately.
I’m an 05 baby and I played cats cradle as a kid.
They are only wasting time with that BS becuase they are baked.
it was a fad in my primary school around 2011, things like that always have random resurgences
The only show where actors CONSTANTLY breaking character actually enhanced the show
yeh, they had the advantage of the characters laughing fitting the context
The unintentional burn from Kelso about the duck easily moving through the water was priceless.🤣
I wouldn’t call it a burn, it’s more like an upside to being a duck. Bears can’t move in water as well, so Eric can do what Red can’t.
@@stephenking5852 that’s what Kelso was trying to say I think but didn’t realize it sounds like the saying since Eric has a smaller 👀 he can fit easier😂
He’s saying*
@@ash-hm4bt I think you’re reaching with that one
@@stephenking5852 Ducks can also fucking fly.
kelso is given shit for being dumb but his "as a duck you move easier in water" is actually really god advice. eric is better at talking and dealing with people than red and this allows him to move smoother throughout his social life.
It's not. It's extra stupid becuase bears are faster in water than ducks.
@@captainjefferies9047 I don't know about that, when ducks get scared or need to get out of the way they can swim pretty fast.
@@kenlompart9905 No they can't.
@@captainjefferies9047 Umm, yes they can. When they need to they can get going pretty fast, I've seen it plenty of times.
@@kenlompart9905 When people type "Umm" at people you are telling us that you are too dumb to take seriously.
Eric's sarcastic smile halfway through this video is perfect
Donna always feels like she's us. She's naturally laughing instead of just acting and it just makes it all feel so much more relatable.
“Thought you said you had news?”
Cold 🥶
"How soft is he Hyyyde?" This shit kills me everytime 😂😂💀💀
Just coming off watching the first episode of that 90's show and it felt so different. It actually made me question if I liked that 70's show or if I was just looking at it with nostalgia tinted glasses.
Nope after watching a few episodes I couldn't help but burst out in laughter all over again, the chemistry of all the characters works so well and it was very well written for a sitcom. You just can't capture that kind of lightning in the bottle again sadly.
They could’ve they just didn’t try hard enough
I had this same exact thought! I was like… was it really like this? But no, it wasn’t like 90’s show at all. This show was so perfect haha, I love it in every way.
I heard someone say it was a "Disney show in disguise" and I think they might be right.
@@shineyluna1268 yeah because that was the 90’s! Disney and Nickelodeon. It’s true to form.
90s show is hot garbage. They should’ve left this series alone.
I didn’t appreciate how great Kelso was the first time I watched this.
He's so damn good
His delivery on "oh cause we're gonna tell everyone" full chef's kiss
Yes, they are rehearsing their lines.
But they have so much CHEMISTRY!!! I feel like I’m watching actual friends! Donna and Kelso are playing so comfortably and platonically. The cast doesn’t talk over the other. And it’s so earnestly giggly like genuine teens.
I swear this scene almost felt entirely improvised it was just so perfect! Lmfao
The delayed reaction burn from Kelso 😆
Ashton Kutcher is a great actor and his comedic chops are so stupidly on display in this show that people forget they love Kelso so much because of how good Ashton is at playing him. I like to think Topher Grace really did crack for a second at that “BURN!”
Topher Grace keeping a straight face made this scene so brilliant.
My two favorite scenes are "Eric You Are a God" and Kelso telling Red that Eric threw a rabbit up a tree. I honestly can't choose between them.
This is what's missing from the new show. In the original everyone ripped on everyone. It felt like they were real friends.
This is how you speak to your friends? They completely degraded him and made him out to be a complete loser. . .
@@gamedrop3262 are we watching the same thing? What happened was funny.
Yea it’s missing that natural chemistry in the whole friend group. Hopefully they’ll build that by s2
@@gamedrop3262 this was the 70s that’s what they did back then. And in the 90s too. Let me guess you’re a late millennial or Gen Z?

Prepon was so adorable here..
I miss when they used an actual audience as they did towards the show's beginning. You could feel the natural laughter coming from the crowd, but ever since I realized the switch, all I could think about was the fact that the laughter was pre-recorded.
Jesus, now i remember why i loved this show as a teenager. They were all just so natural. Them roasting each other and genuinely laughing at it. Great chemistry, great timing, great acting. Something is just off/forced about that 90's show.
That 90s show never stood a chance, the original is just too iconic
it is, but that 90s is kinda good too. it will NEVER be the og, but i liked it
@@hellstarvevo na, the new characters aren't very good
The 90’s show is like watching iCarly. It’s too sanitized to be safe. That 70’s Show didn’t HAVE to hit you over the head with jokes, it was implied, and people got it. That’s what made it funny, as this scene shows. They weren’t blunt, but you got it. The Liberace line…. They didn’t let you HEAR Donna explaining to Kelso, and we as the audience already knew. It was the reaction from the actors, and how it was played that made it funny. I can watch That 70’s Show still today and laugh at it. I don’t think folks will be doing that with the 90’s Show. It almost seems forced to a point. The highlights of That 90’s Show so far has been the cameos from the original kids, plus Red and Kitty. But even their time seems sanitized at points.
@@ripperace that 90s show was rushed, like the relationships werent developed enough
@@chadwellington2524 exactly, and thats mostly netflix fault. a sitcom with 10 episodes doesnt work. I hope that if it gets renewed, we have more episodes
Omfg I was JUST THINKING about this scene today and I'm so glad this was uploaded individually, finally! I love how Laura Prepon is literally crying she's laughing so hard xD
In my opinion, season 7 episode 13 (Can’t You Hear Me Knocking) is the best scene. Kelso calls the White House to warn them about Russia’s secret death ray, then become paranoid that the feds might be watching them.
This scene is hilarious too. It definitely stands out.
I might find that one 😃
I love that episode!
@@gentlemancharmander4411 Yeah, it’s on another level. Now I’ll have to go back and watch it.

Cause we're gonna tell everyone!!
Kelso is too savage 😂
This is a really good scene! My favorite scene is when Calso had tried to convince all of his friends he fucked this hot girl for the whole episode. And when she goes to the basement and wants to talk to him (essentially proving they had sex) He screams "Burn" into each individuals face he even goes upstairs and screams "Burn!" into Red's and Kittie's face. And he finally runs back down stairs he calmly says "burn" one last time to round off the burn stampede. And the girl tells him " I'm pregnant". He goes, "I never touched her".
Ohh yeah the Brooke episode, the comedic timing on that shit was great. This show is spectacular. Top 5 of all time.
*Kelso

CALSO!
CALSO
See, the real laughing, the way you can tell they were genuinely having fun, and the overall chemistry on set, THAT, is what made this show good…. That 90’s show just doesn’t have that, except for some of the parts with the old cast.
the laughter from the characters were real because for most of them this was their first job and as theyre stoners the directors kept it in
"My dad's a bear but I'm like... a duck."
"You were a bear when you were born but Red pounded you into the duck we know and love!" Truer words never spoken by Donna Pincioti.
@@donpietruk1517 At least he can move more easily through the water.
Leo asking Hyde "Will you be my dad, man?" is also right up there.
This is lowkey the start of a Villain Arc
This was 👍, but Fez and Michael getting down on their knees and calling Eric a god for "sleeping with Mig" was definitely my favorite
Explaing the joke to Kelso who then catches on and laughs like a child is my favorite part of this exchange.
They were not expecting Kelso's line lmao. This is what the industry needs again, people cast for their ACTING abilities and natural comedic timing, not for their family connections or those other reasons... You know what I mean, the ones against federal law that are constantly ignored
This along with Tater Nuts is absolutely gold.
The acting is just perfect. So natural.
Every actor perfectly encapsulates their character in this scene while still coming across as lost in the moment, kinda like improv just going with the flow- you can see the actors losing it but so are their characters which makes it feel so natural, better actors couldn’t have done a better job, this was truly lightning in a bottle
This is a top ten scene.
Another one of my favorites is when Red goes to the dentist and tells Eric he loves him in the kitchen. 😂
Oh snap! God I haven't seen this show in so long I never saw this coming!
Ashton Kutcher as Kelso is awesome.
Thanks for this! Forgot how hilarious this show was.
Oh man, that really was pretty great!
This is the scene that got me hooked on this show hahahaha!
This show was so naturally funny and relatable it did not feel like it was a show it was like watching them live life it was not forced like that 90s show I want to see what season 2 brings it didn't suck just felt forced and silly like they were trying to hard to be funny it had some funny moments the comedy of 70s Show just wasn't there
It's not forced at all. It's a new set of kids and the humor is very similar. I like the new kids and i actively watched the show just like everyone else thinking it would be stupid but am definitely liking what they're doing.
Some it is forced, sure, its a sequel show but some of it is amazing and im enjoying it.
@@yourstillwithme Seems forced I thought it was decent not hating
They need to get rid of that basement, 70s kids probably used to get high in the basement but 90s kids didn't do that at all.
@@user-vy5uy9fo8p The basement is a character all by itself

Because he plays the piano lol. I love that this show came to Peacock.
You know you have comic gold when the actors are trying not to break
that "silver lining" smile from Eric kills me
My personal favorite will always be the "Eric, you are a god!" scene.

That show really was something special.
I love Kelso so much
I thought “the 90s show” was ok and then I come across this and realize how much that 70s show is can’t hold a candle to it
The "Indy 500" line is great too 😂
I JUST got that! Hyde's hilarious!
The bear/duck thing, it really hits home for me.
Actually a very nice point at the end by Kelso
i was literally thinking of this scene earlier lol
I agree, this is the best scene
My favorite..."That's a burn about a burn, that's a second degree burn."
Notice that the music is not so frigging loud that everyone doesn't have to yell at each other to have a conversation. The 8 track in the stereo. Kelso wearing the wooden beads. The seventies were mellow and fun.
Had to turn off that 90's show about 2 episodes in. But 70's show? Ill rewatch it all the time
I love this scene, it’s so funny
Take a look at the last bastion of amazing script-making for tv shows. BTW Kelso, in his last line, got a piece of great advice.

"You guys kill me" hahah
the whole scene i felt bad for eric and also saw myself in eric... and then when his friends admit its Reds fault he's a duck and the "through the water" comment just killed me
I like this sitcom. It's great. ✌️
My fav scene is when Red and Kitty catch Eric on top of his hot cousin.
Everything from "I'm not raising any flippered grandchildren" to the end is roll--on-the-floor funny
My favourite scene is "Car that runs on water, man!"
probably the best american show I’ve ever watched
I love Donna
The first time I watched this episode I just only made the connection because Liberace is gay. But now rewatching this I realized what part of Liberace was soft at the Playboy mansion 😂
lol I can imagine the actor part of Erick is trying so hard not to laugh.
Topher never really laughed.
