The same way you defend against most throws; grip fighting. In BJJ you know you shouldn't let someone with skill put a hand in your collar. The same goes for Judo, especially on your feet!
I am playing with it in bjj. I do it by droping to the knee. Not as explosive but less back exposure more control. However if you do this full speed and mash someone's ribs i don't think you need to worry about giving up the back.
You "could" stay standing, but you're better off going to the ground. Why? You can throw with more force when you throw your weight to the ground, plus you can easily get to kesa gatame for pin/control/sub and decide what to do next.
One of the toughest throws in judo. Full power and and dificult to avoid.
I ve taken a few off these from the older guys at the dojo, you realy cant avoid it and its a great trhow
One of the hardest techniques to avoid.
I've been having extreme success with it even though I'm -81, lighter categories don't expect this too often
Very hard to stop this technique. I used this in randori(s) .... also, I lost by this technique during randori(s). Great video. Oss.
My tokui waza , thanks for the video it will take it to a next level !
Im new.
Didn’t know that one.
Looks great 💪🏼
Blue Belt level throw
@@samsteele4762 All techniques are "blue belt level" mechanics, but take black belt mastery to hit on a resisting opponent.
Thank you 🙏
Как же он хорошо обьясняет хоть я и русская
Man, I wish the IJF would've let this man compete in BJJ. We need him. The state of takedowns in BJJ is terrible.
Dang he isn’t allowed to compete in bjj!?
@@AdamBarkerThe Not unless he would be banned from competing in Judo anymore.
Why? I dont know judo rules or follow it. So why?
@@foolishyish Just Google IJF banning Judoka from competing in BJJ and you'll find plenty of material.
Ye last time in comp i pulled sleeve and didnt go close to my opponent and when i fail i just hook his leg from inside and start pushing him
thank you!
Lmao, it has a "bad wrap (rap)" 🤣
I see what you did there, and I like it
Standing Granby Roll.
Standing Peterson roll
Tried this last night and it was amazing.
Just landed this throw during randori the day after watching this video
How do you defend against makikomi ?
The same way you defend against most throws; grip fighting. In BJJ you know you shouldn't let someone with skill put a hand in your collar. The same goes for Judo, especially on your feet!
So with this throw is landing on your partner optional? Can one typically remain standing?😎
Makikomi literally means to follow or to land with the throw. I have seen it both ways and also kneeling.
its a sacrifice throw, so i think you follow down to the ground with this one
