Best ad ever for the RAAF. I can't help but notice his apparent relaxed style. I say apparent because he'd have to be achieving high levels of expertise every time.
I was lucky enough to do this whilst posted to 3SQN in late 80s early 90s. started with a vertical take off full afterburner, touch and go landing, through the sound barrier and a final landing. absolutely awesome.
I use to babysit the Blue Angels for 20 years and always enjoyed their Diamond formation then split off to a high speed semi-inverted bank when coming around to line up with the approach....awesome to witness.
Nobby looks amazing from air. I once saw about five F-35 looking (can't say for sure) aircrafts lining up for landing.. watching those lean and mean machines gracefully taking left turn in formation was just amazing.
My dad was posted to Moffit CA to fly the F111's back but they had a crack in the wings. But I remember Williams Town and many other bases where my dad was a fighter bomber pilot and more.
I watched them near Raymond Terrace one very very wet afternoon with very limited visibility they were doing 360 turns then dropping gear. It was in the mid nighties, impressive stuff to watch.
The name Williamtown and this videdo made me think of something concerning Williamsburg, Virginia, that always makes me smile and I should share it. The chairman of the corp my father was president of was a former Marine pilot. One of the company planes was a Hawker and, whenever he traveled on it, he would always insist on flying it, even though the Board frowned on that. Well, they were coming back from an event in Virginia and, as he was taking off from the Williamsburg airport and creamed a duck as he was lifting off! What a mess, duck smeared all over the side of the Hawker. Later the board awarded the chair with a little flying duck statue in honor of his deed. I always got a kick out of that and it was what motivated me to learn to fly myself!
When he came in over the beach towards the runway on the first pass looked like a straight in - I thought wow he is comming in hot, but lol - just entering the pattern for a circuit.
How did u gets this footage? As I can see on the defence video library? Strange as the footage is off my camera and I haven't released and too my knowledge RAAF hadn't released it either?
I live on cabbage tree road. They fly low right over my house. Shakes the whole house. Still love them tho. Pain in the ass when your trying to watch tv or on a phone call. 😂
Watching a top tier pilot flying a multi million dollar fighter jet. Me - “He’s got the RAAF ensign on the wrong shoulder” 😜 I spent 5 years as a RadTech at Willytown. Good times.
@@irish7460 I think the video is not mirrored as the beach and approach is correct way around, and you can see the dial instruments, etc are on the correct side.

Hi guys makes me proud , from Newcastle.
Excellent capture of a magnificent landing!
My grandfather worked Williamstown in the air force for many years, his ashes are scattered at the runway so he can be forever with his planes cheers

did think a bit fast and flat!
Love the vids, keep ‘em coming!👍🇦🇺
I also love them ..♡
Imagine waking up in the morning and remembering that you are a fast jet pilot!
Imagine being woken off by a jet pilot
I flew F18s for 25 years in the US Navy
What’s a wing commander doing up that early ?
you wouldn't have to remember that fact. you would have told everyone in your dreams as well as real life hahhaha
Whereas I get to wake up in a country where there are no fast jets for my sons to dream of flying.
Beautiful day for a flight.
I can see that 🙌🏻 it’s like like I imagined it. I see the beach land roads & base💪🏻

I attended the W O I few years back and saw one of these land at the show and the interview given by the pilot.
Flight Lt " (Acco) Atkinson
that first pass, low and fast in bumpy air, awesome.
Thanks for the ride boys.
Is that a Squadron Leader or a Wing Commander driving the plane? I can never work out if the middle stripe is a full one or only a thin one.

Reminds me of my landing last night on DCS...
No poncy let down to circuit height and joining the downwind leg for these hooligans!

God created aircraft mechanics so that fast jet pilots could have heroes too !
Haha those Aussies buzzed the base first, loved
flying Red Flag with them!
Just a normal approach....
But what fun!
I was a bit confused the first time he lined up to the right of the runway, because I only expected a landing, not a low pass over the base! 😅
The koalas in the bushland near the runway shiver every time one of these fly over too.
