The best use for those thin warding keys is as a display of what not to buy. Really enjoy your channel. Thanks for making these great videos.

I really appreciate the fact that he was still objective about the whole thing. Regardless of how crappy they might have been, he still came up with situations where they could be useful

Adding the random mid-lenght teeth on the pick that engage nothing but only dodge warding is some magical thinking lol.

Some older warded locks don't have the sprung latch at the back. They have a leaf spring that catches the retained shackle side on both of its edges. That's what double sided warded picks are for, they basically push both parts of the leaf spring out of the way. There's probably locks that have both styles in one lock, which is possibly what double toothed double sided ward picks are for. Those picks you have here might be useful to work out the key for the old bronze Yale lever padlocks of the type that look like they're warded locks but they aren't.

I did try on my old yale, and it should have worked on that…. But didn’t. Either way, I do t think this set has much value outside of some edge cases. Wish it was more useful now I own it lol

One reason that the 3 don’t work any better than the 1 is because all 3 aren’t catching the latch; only 1 may actually be catching the latch still as there isn’t a latch in every warding gap.
There’s a reason the tried and true sets are as they are simply 5, near universal skeleton keys, made of thicker/tougher metal; they work and they’re all you need.

I got a lock none of the 5 get for some reason and im sure it's warded

nice cut-away lock, "Picks" do look flimsey, maybe there stackable!?
also not all Zig-zag key locks have an actuall locking pawl, but what looks like a heavy duty cotter pin/spring split on either side of the shackle that has one or two grooves to match. they can be located in the middle as well.
the key just spreads the spring.
    Have a great day

Some of those might be used as a shim for handcuffs. Otherwise I agree with your review. Well done as always Sir Noob.

I've seen these on the Chinese websites and laughed. They just don't seem to be of much use at all. I think you hit the nail on the head with the word AVOID in the title.

There is a market for mall ninjas who want to own a "set of skeleton keys" 😉

As is the case with a lot of things, like stainless steel swords.

Nice review! I couldn't agree more. The only place I think those might be handy is a kumgang padlock I saw in Bosnianbills video 1331. And that's very rare!!!

Ah yes! I just saw that and you are right! It makes sense though; as I alluded to in the video, I suspected there might be a load of Chinese/Asian made padlocks that these warded picks might be designed for… now I just need to buy me some!!

What's the acronym for when you like the sound of things? ASDM? Something like that. Anyway, that may be the single promising benefit to this set. The tinkling of the tin is nice.

It's just a way of making more money from some people that don't realize how a warded lock works . If you have a spare or not used key , just cut away all but the last section .

Locksporterts and collectors aside, who actually uses warded locks in the twenty-first century?

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  4 місяці тому +3

They are very very useful for extremely dirty and dusty applications not requiring high security

Mostly see them on sheds and external gates but, where I live at least, they are relatively rare.

They still sell them in Poundland, so some unsuspecting fools must still buy them. Handy for making sure a two year old does open an outdoor aviary by accident I guess.
