The next England manager will be the best person for the job - regardless of their nationality.
Sky Sports News understands the Football Association is not restricting its search to replace Gareth Southgate, who resigned after eight years in charge on Tuesday, to someone English.
However, it is thought that FA chief executive Mark Bullingham would prefer to hire an English manager.

Not to mention that in the 2020/21 Nations League we didn't make it out of the group despite picking a strong team and in 2022/23 we got relegated and the double done on us by Hungary 😂
Fact is he's done an average job with exceptional players while getting favourable draws and luck going his way in tournaments, I was never confident we were going to win anything or beat any top opposition with Southgate in charge and it's been the same with other managers. If Sven or Capello had these draws and these players we wouldn't have done any worse or any better
Give it to Neville or Carra, both seem to know better about everything than anyone else 😏

I am sick of all the negative comments. When he took over England were no where. Our Golden Generation - failed! England were rock bottom. You might not like his tactics and decisions - but he has elevated English football. He gave us back hope again and a belief in England once again. You all need to sit back and take a clear, hard look at what he has achieved. The next England manager will find it hard to even emulate his record. I wish Gareth all the very best for the future and thank him for giving us hope again.
Granted he's got a good record. But be honest, name one good team that he has beaten apart from Germany.
He got given a new golden generation of players that don’t have the competition our old generation had. He has failed to win anything in 8 years and lost two finals

Our Euro 2014 and Euro 2016 teams under Hodgson were far from a golden era, Southgate has ridden it out while an average squad has gained some world class talent

People suggesting Klopp do not live in reality. There are a million reasons he will never manage England. Most of those reasons are the same for Pep, Ancelotti or any other top manager you care to name.

The problem is top managers like managing clubs. In particular a German or Spanish manager would probably want to manage his own country when he doesn't have a better club offer o the table - something Klopp, Pepp and Ancelotti will always have in their favour - just common sense not dry banter.
We don't need bald pep or any coaches. We need only Gareth Southgate. We must back him anyway

I think the key IS to actually get the manager that England truly needs, whether that happens remains to be seen..?
No one have a clue why Pochettino is even in the conversation, he's not a world class manager, and he's not English, and Spurs DNA is strong in him, adding that to Harry Kane will be disastrous.

He wouldn’t take it and anyone who does is a fool because how do you follow back to back euro finals being a failure? Unless you win your a failure.
You can view it two ways 1) Using the FA's internal philosophy, perhaps Carsley and look to develop on Southgate. 2) By looking to buy a trophy, get in a manager who can manage top players at a top level and spend the money.
I think if this were a discussion on who should be the next Real Madrid manager I'm not sure Howe or Potter would be in contention (albeit a different scenario). England in 2018 had a broken system, broken players and Southgate united that, made it a positive to play for England....currently we have big names that aren't performing like they are at club level and needs strong management. England aren't renown for top class managers and I can just see someone like Carsley perhaps not getting the respect of the team with a few strong personalities.
I feel that anyone other than Klopp or Pep (I think it's an unlikely appointment) will bring in questions on their appointment and it will be an uphill clime. I can see us struggling at the next tournament or 2.

Very suspicious, these accounts with no posts or new accounts are commenting Carsley. There are top Pl managers who are English and several top manager who are free agents. No one in their right mind must think Carsley is better than any established manager, Klopp, Howe, Potter, Poch? Women's football and men's football are different. That being said experience can make the world of difference. Women will one day be great coaches in men's football if given the opportunity. But I don't think this is a time to experiment.

Gary Neville talking about English coaches 😂😂. English coaches are not doing well in coaching. Gerrard, lampard, rooney and more have got their chances. But they are not good enough. That's the reason foreign coaches are taking over the league. If you watch the league table, Spanish coaches are far better. The first four teams, three of the coaches are Spanish. It will be nice for English ex players to put more effort into their coaches abilities. Everything Comes with effort and dedication. Pep,Arteta,mourinho,and others show lots of commitments into their project management and it pays off for them. English coaches must try to copy from them.
