"Content Manager"...brilliant! I've also barely messed with AI tools, then get back to learning Houdini. I've like using Midjourney for a storyboard concept I created for a short film but haven't used any AI art tools other than that.
I totaly agree with you about AI stuff. People doesn't know how a commercial shot is prepeared and rendered. How FX Tds, lighters and compositors work collaboratively. They don't know about art directing and rendering same shot with hundered different variations. Also they don't know how compositors use different render passes to adjust fine details to get top notch quality. You will never get the same quality with AI where you see in transformers, avatar... movie.
It just hasn't been trained on it. What it's doing is trying to help you and instead telling you it doesn't know it's trying to make assumptions. A flaw in ai is that it won't admit it doesn't know everything.
I think that filmmakers, and ultimately the public, will not care how certain effect or certain character is made as long as it looks good. Zemeckis recently rejuvenated Tom Hanks and Robin Wright with 100% AI in the movie "Here".
Houdini and Nuke's node based openness might be too much for it to understand, where blackboxes like Blender have more rigid workflows. Really cool stuff, just hope us feeding it doesn't come back to bite us..
You're right about AI "artists." I'm relieved AI all has the same creepy surreal look for now - and that half the stuff it says is made up and false. Makes me feel a lot better about being outsourced to it.
I'll tell you why you're right. AI is a parrot. If you get instructions or something generated by AI, it's pulling it from multiple sources where it's cut and pasted together. I'd say it's good for inspiration or instructions but should NEVER be taken as the final art or animation piece. At work I use AI to figure out how to do things - I use AI to ask questions about excel or how to better structure sentences - but I never give AI anything personal to keep or that is personally identifiable. I'm not sure about sharing my screen with any AI bot. Maybe on a computer I don't normally use.
Hey Man, I hope you are good, its been a while. I was using this Gemini Screen Share function for writing VEX, it works a little bit better but I always end up on a wall, but as you shared, it has a long way to go to understand "debugging" and "Feedback" in realtime. Blender works well, even Cinema 4D is a bit better, but Houdini needs still some work. Who knows maybe sideFX will come up with something similar but more ingenious. XD
Im devided on ai. Ai in tools is great! Dummed down tools for the public to quickly generate movies, not so good as it make artist made work seams less impressiv when people learned to accept less than perfect ai generated stuff that washed over them. Like you say, the struggle to get from start to finish has a value where we have opportunity to reflect and envolve. But i dont mind ai being used in our tools. I love it. But i do fear timelines going to thrink and expectations sky rocket when client think its just pushing a few buttons. This is what the old people thought 20 years ago. Its only made by the computer, they said, like it were made by itself, an ai. I belive this can be the typical citizens view in a few years.
I should imagine it it would be pulling its training data from UA-cam tutorials. This is probably it why it works better with blender. There are simple more blender UA-cam tutorials then other popular 3d apps. This is just speculation. I have not data to backup this idea.
the amount of times chat gpt has hallucinated instructions for me for basic UI elements in houdini has had me completely give up on AI for help with learning it and I always end up defaulting to reddit or discord, would infinitely love if SideFX trained a GPT for houdini for basic things at least
I am a cg generalist and I've been learning houdini for a month through paid tutorials. Beginners shouldn't start their 3d journey with houdini. Houdini has many prerequests to understand. It's much suitable for intermediate-advanced users. Unfortunately, Houdini doesn't have enough resources to learn. Their videos dosen't even scratch the surface. Their book is crap. I am exited about this AI however, I belive there are not enough resource to train the AI for houdini.
If AI is working well or understands the process, so no need for VFX Artist!. Haven said that I use AI to tell me where and how to use the tool instead of going to search hours on the internet for tutorials, you need to use it as an assistant not doing the work for you. For me working very well.
Even the AI can´t undestarnd Houdini 😅
😂😂😂😂
I think the Coke commercial proves that even when AI sucks, corporations are eager to replace artists with it anyway.

ok, this days youtube-teachers are still needed
Dang, this is what I actually was curious to use it for. Houdini is just one nut that I have a hard time cracking.
wait, I never know Matt Damon can do VFX on his free time let alone he also knows to use the most complicated vfx tool among all…
I noticed there is a limit amount of times i can ask it stuff before it stops working and I have to start a new conversation.

Houdini is alien software even too advanced for the AI.
I've also parroted your perspective on "AI Artists" before it's what makes the most sense to me anyway

I also tried it with houdini after your 1st video and it sucks mostly
even sometime it said "I can't see your screen"
Yes dude! i just tested it with C4D after I watched your vid. I got triggered by Puck lol

does it work with unreal engine?
It seems ai dont catch up NODES System ;)
AI Sucks??? It came from telling stories to this stage in less than 2 years, After few more years it outperform you in anything.
Is this a paid tool?
its free :)
AI sucks almost all the time! Haha!
Universe toughest software Houdini side fx ai is don't understand Houdini work flow 😂 and. Ai understand only Houdini name only
