I've tried so many brands, Sony is just incredibly convenient for the quality you get out of them. I think the fact that they have a proprietary microphone system with no cables is pretty dang underrated. Currently using the Sony a6700 and it's been great. Just earlier today, I was outside shooting in the cold, was like -17c, and because of the size of the camera and lens I was able to put the whole thing in my jacket pocket, along with my hands, to keep warm. For the interval focus thing you talked about relating specifically to YT thumbnails. I personally have stopped shooting photos for my thumbnails and just roll a video clip with autofocus on. I go frame by frame on the video and export 4k stills from premiere as .tiff files when I find a good pose. They aren’t as high res as shooting a photo on my A7IV and not in RAW format. But the continuous AF in video works better for me while self shooting thumbnails.
lol, I paused the vid to type my last comment. Then pushed play and you talk about rolling video too… but yeah. Self Shooting video just seems easier overall than self shooting photos.

I love the Canon EOS R5 Mark II! I upgraded from the Mark I and glad I did! I do content creation for UA-cam, shot personal videos and take tons of photos (especially volleyball action shots). I love the flexibility of the body and now the inclusion of Canon Log 2. The auto-focus is in a league of its own for sports. The stacked BSI sensor is a big improvement over the Mark I's for rolling shutter and makes the electronic shutter actually usable for me. I have been a long time Canon user, so my view is likely a bit skewed. My UA-cam channel partner is on the Sony platform, so I used both and just prefer the Canon. @@dadstalktech I wanted to get that camera but the new battery and the 60fps no being fine stopped. Oh the price hike. I heard the new battery is way worse only allowing an hour of shooting.
@@heynow2880 I get it, but I probably looked at it a bit different. I used the heck out of my R5 OG. And now, more can be done with the N version battery installed as of the latest firmware. There are still restrictions, but there are actually good reasons for the P version. The R5 II brings a lot more to the table. The Digic Accelerator chip is going to require some power. Though rated for the same capacity, the P version battery provides more of the power during peak demand times. The frame rates for stills photography doesn't drop the same way that it does on the R5 OG as the battery drains. A lot to pick from. The Panasonic s5iix has great stabilization, built in fan, open gate, and the Nikon z6iii has internal raw, n-log and good autofocus now. Both are around 2k-2.5K. Nikon now has Red luts. Both shoot 6k. It’s so hard trying to decide 😂. You can get the canon R8 which has the same sensor as the R6ii. I think it’s around 1200 bucks. It’s still c log 3 tho.
@@YCImaging yeah I'm leaning towards grabbing the canon r6mii and eventually pair it with the r8 or r50. Or jumping over to sony getting the A7iv and eventually pair it with the zv-e10 mii. Switched from Canon to Sony a year ago and love how compact the system is. Also lenses are small and lighter. I also rock the 24-70 GMii. The punch sony compact cameras punch in image quality and features is crazy
The a7c II is such an underrated camera. I keep waiting on someone to make a video on the creative looks or embedding LUTs for great videos straight out of camera.
I went from Panasonic and now I'm embedded with Canon R6 mark II. I'm loving the camera and missing being able to shoot 4k60 without the threat of overheating.
I hear it! After being with the FX3 + A7iv so long, anytime I rent it out for some extras BTS photo stuff I can't stand how different and more complicated the menus are, everything else about it is wavy though, very nice camera
Great points through-out the video . Hopefully sony will come out with and update for the A7Cll in which makes it compatible with Sony's updated Monitor & control app , I have been using it with the ZV-E1 and it feels like its connected by wire with how quick and solid the connection is.
I just switched from the canon r6 mk ii to the Sony a7iv! I love canon but this sony is giving me a different love from video quality to customization to lens selection. Grading Slog 3 on this camera is AMAZING in comparison to clog 3. That may just be me idk but this joint lit
@@CAMphotography_ I have both and love the image of the R6 II. It has more of a movie look oppose to Sony which is more clinical unless your using manual focus cinema lenses. Thems the facts!!
Honestly still figuring it out, but to put it simply I’m going off of how it looks and not the exposure meter. A lot of other Sony users told me “just set it to +1.7” “just set it to +2.0”. But I’ve realized if I like the way it looks, just shoot it.
On the a6400 you need to set the Focus Mode to "Continuous Focus" instead of "Single Focus". On the a6400, I have Focus Mode in "My Menu/Focus Mode/AF-C". Note that the "Manual Focus" mode is actually an Auto focus mode but it only focuses once at the "start" of a clip, though I think you can force a re-focus by pressing the focus button while recording.
I went from a Canon R6, EOS R, M50 and BMPCC4K to (2) FX30s an FX3, an A6700 and an A7iv. I do miss the feel of a Canon. The grips on the full frame cameras are just great. The colors were great. The menus were great. The issue was flat out cost vs value and capabilities. The lenses are too expensive and there is not an equivalent to the FX30 or FX3 for the price. Canon makes great cameras and lenses, but I don't regret the move for myself.
@@MrFarley2323 I know the lenses are expensive but almost every lens has stabilization. Almost every Sony has doesn’t which super frustrating. I don’t get it. Sony needs it more than any of them with the micro jitters
I use R5C and A7Sii, I shoot both depending of the situations. When is low light I choose sony when I have good light I choose canon. Both has AF issues but it's not a huge problem because i'm always behind the canera. I love sony as a tool, but canon brings so much joy and fun. I do prefer canon colors when I don't wanna go crazy on color grading.
Man, to be honest i think you will love A7Siii even more. It's not a lot bigger. But there are 3 aspects where A7Cii is worse than A7Siii. Personally for me it's the fact that A7Cii is cropping in slow motion. It's just amazingly convenient that with A7Siii you not loosing anything when switching from 24 fps to 60 and 120. There is a tiny tiny crop in 120 fps, but compared to APS-C crop it is nothing. Second fact is that A7Siii just simply has more buttons (and joystick) and i programmed and using all of this buttons. It's very very useful. And the last fact that A7Siii has much better viewfinder with much better resolution. But i know it's personal preference, but i use my viewfinder not as much while shooting but more like a reference monitor to check the footage. It's like having good big monitor with you. I have an A7C and love it, but if i have to pick which camera i will pick as my main, the A7Siii is my all time favourite
Yeah I’m sure it’s better in pretty much every aspect but AF, I really just bought what I needed in the smaller package. It’s been great to strip down the unnecessary for me.
@@YCImaging yes, i agree. Anyway, the result is great, so some inconveniences is due to the small form factor. So it's necessary compromise. By the way, ZV-E1 is in fact is A7Siii or FX3 in small cheap plastic body. I think it's about the same size as A7Cii. I think the body of ZV-E1 is worse than A7Cii, but the full-frame in 60/120 fps is a plus. But man, I have always respected your work, when you was on Sony, then on Canon, and now on Sony again 🙂 But for me, as a Sony user, it's much more interesting to see how your'e using the Sony gear 🙂
I had forgotten that you switched from Canon to Sony because all these videos still look the same. I mean, they look incredible, so that’s not a criticism, but the same. Just your editing style. I guess it proves that all these cameras are great and it’s up to the creator.
I’m planning to buy Sony FX3 which is a cinema line camera switching from Canon of-course. But now I see the A7C is not bad at all plus it’s a lot cheaper
What would you suggest for filming outdoor scenery, sunsets, lo fi, landscapes, cityscapes… particularly nightime scenes with lights, reflections etc… also the same for photos I am a beginner and use iphone for filming and would love to upgrade to my first camera for photo and video but have no clue what to choose… I am here watching videos like this trying to figure out but it is so hard for me because I am so unfamiliar with the equipment on the market. Please help
The fix I landed on for the no continuous AF on interval shooting was to purchase a wireless remote that can also do interval shooting. Annoying to spend an extra $40 on a remote system to do something it should easily do internally, but it does the job.
I m curios why you didn’t get the Sony A7Siii or the FX3 which would allow you to keep a smaller frame but still be used for production if you ever needed it I have a Sony A7Siii and a Sony A7C the first model. Autofocus def don’t miss and the picture quality is def awesome. I think the A7C A7Siii and FX3 all have the same sensor
With the a9iii currently. Returned the R5ii image was buttery and the blacks were so deep but at the end of the day the auto focus kept hunting and the corners were jello. As soon as canon fixes those issues I’d switch back in a heart beat. For now the a9iii is the best hybrid camera that I’ve used and can shoot clean footage at 6400iso
The joystick is the only think I wish my A7CR had. I get the HDMI issue but it's also a small camera they need to cut down on size somewhere and the HDMI makes sense as it's large. If you need a fulls size HDMI the a7iv is the better option
I have a solution for lack of Joystick 1.Manu 2.setup 3.touch operation 4.shooting screen 5.touch function in shooting 6.touch focus Now you can use your touch screen as a joystick or trackpad 👍🏼
have you had any overheating issues with 30+ min videos? Also, do you use a lut or can you upolad without too much color correction? I too have darker skin and dont see many darker creators talking about sony skin tones. Thanks so much!
I got my a7cii as a stills camera and/or a b-cam for my fx30.(Also my wifes nex 5n) A lot of your observations are valid but not relevant to my still needs. Joysticks, internal NDS, hdmi etc aren't even noticed. What I do miss about Canon is how it handles zone focusing and auto white balance, for some reason Canon does these things better, that said I plan to stick with Sony, my life is super easy juggling full frame and aspc lenses. They simply both work with small or no tradeoffs.
Recently pick up a c70 and definitely love it. No hate on sony but it feels overhyped at times. Own R5 & R6mii & R8 used them more for still and the R5 for vid but adding the c70 16DR hit different man
Never mind. I just saw you mentioned it. 24 to 70 and 20 1.8. My go-to for portability has been the 20 mm 2.8 which is the smallest pancake option available. And, the samyang 35 mm 2.8 for full frame. The 20 mm that I have is for crop sensor, but when I'm running full frame in dynamic active stabilization mode, I get the appropriate amount of punching that I need to avoid vignetting. There's also the classic Sony Zeiss 28 mm f2 which I've had probably the longest but not exactly pocketable but still small. I also adapt Canon EF version of the sigma 18 to 35 1.8 and the 24 mm 1.4.
So I actually didn't start using Sony cameras until early last year. I had the Sony ZVE 10 Mark one and before that I had the Canon rebel T7 now I have the R8. If I were to get a Sony camera right now I would do the Sony A 74 along with the a 7C mark ii. I feel like that would be a good combo. but I feel like my dream trifecta would be my canon R8 the R5 and the C 80.
Question for you . please forgive my lack of knowledge , I would like to know when you are using your Sony lens 20mm f/1.8 and when you are using the other lens 24-70mm f/2.8 ?? which purpose lens has in different scenario .Thank you .:) I just subscribed to your channel.
When I bought this camera, the 20mm was my favorite lens for pretty much everything. I used the 20mm for like the entire first month with the camera. Then one day, I used the 24-70mm and I’ve never went back to the 20mm once haha. I basically ONLY use the 20mm for talking head setups in my UA-cam videos, having that wider perspective while also having the shallow depth of field is great for that. The 24-70mm is just so versatile.
Hey, I would really love to know, why you picked this on over the zve1? I'm nit a fanboy but just stand in-between these to right now😄 but 1 thing is sure! These colors are great
Overheating and interface for me. I saw the potential in the ZVe1 when I tested it, but something about the camera I wasn’t vibing with lol. It’s hard for me to explain
@YCImaging Ah I see. What do you think about the rolling shutter and low light performance with the a7c2? Is it enough or do you think, more is only necessary if you're not using any light? Like imagine filming something like gawx. Would you benefit from a better low light performance or stabilization?🤔
The rolling shutter is so bad that camera. I have a Sony A7SIII and the rolling shutter is amazing on it. Not sure whey you didn't go that route. That being said I also own a Canon R6 II and love the image more than my A7SIII. It is ok to have both systems or even more. You didn't have to leave Canon.
Yea probably could have went the R6ii route or even the R8 which has the same sensor and kept the RF lenses. They are expensive and selling them at a loss is a big ouch. I just checked the R8 price is only 1099. But as he stated, he is only using it for vlogging, content creation so I understand selling the c70
The problem with this philosophy for me is, i can always justify owning something even if I never use it haha. I don’t need all these cameras to create content.
@@YCImaging there like playing guitar. They each have a different look than the other. When people say they are the same I disagree. If they were than no one would switch.
Bro that second point about cameras not focusing for interval shoots I agree it’s a gripe I hate 😅. I bought this lumix s5iix and I was expecting I’d be able to use it for exactly what you mentioned for thumbnails. It doesn’t focus after every shot when you set off time mode. So annoying 😭 even for the first shot You lose focus
I love my both my A7C and A7Cii, I’ve been trying to justify upgrading to a camera that shoots 6k but these just out perform in features. Hopefully the mark iii shoot in 6k.
At the laundromat watching this video.. I have both Canon and Sony .. greedy right lol .. I do a lot of BTS for videos and film so depending on the clients or what I’m shooting I know which one I’m going use lol however it’s Canon 1st and then Sony lol
Because there are so many features and cameras, I find all menu systems a little confusing and hard to find the feature or function that I actually want. But out of all of them I find Panasonic to be the most user-friendly. Fuji is straight trash and the old menu system from the A7 wasn't that good either.
Bro all them cameras are elite but the sony a7c II can battle with them depending on the shooter everything is personal preference but real world usage the sony a7c II is a major underrated camera bro way underrated because it’s not the main marketing camera
You should do a giveaway for all your Canon gear...atleast it can get work done for someone who will appreciate it instead of it just sitting being used here and there IF you even still use it.
Bro please can I win the Dji action 4 I wanna start making videos and I already have my name is Semir you can also see I’ve bought ur colour correction material please man I really need this camera
canon colors... man I love the people talk about that because they don't know how to color grade or lack imagination and want their shit to look as generic as the fellow users who use the same gear., also Isn't the c70 an apsc sensor?
Sony’s color science isn’t a matter of opinion. Whether colors are represented accurately or not is something your eyes can tell you. However, if you’re brand-blind, feel free to keep convincing yourself it’s just an opinion. 😂 m.ua-cam.com/video/TTGsXm3cxOY/v-deo.html&pp=2AGOB5ACAQ%3D%3D

I've got an a6700 earlier this year, fucking love it, it's been literally perfect, the autofocus and the colors are mint
Hey the a7c isn't a crop-sensor camera. You're thinking of the a6000 series
But man, I have always respected your work, when you was on Sony, then on Canon, and now on Sony again 🙂
But for me, as a Sony user, it's much more interesting to see how your'e using the Sony gear 🙂
Need the links to the LIGHT TUBE HOLDERS on the desk…
You could use the Bluetooth remote, not sure it will work at 30 yards though, but u can half press to focus
I’ll have to look into this!
I had forgotten that you switched from Canon to Sony because all these videos still look the same. I mean, they look incredible, so that’s not a criticism, but the same. Just your editing style. I guess it proves that all these cameras are great and it’s up to the creator.
100%. These cameras are almost always indistinguishable, especially online.
I’m planning to buy Sony FX3 which is a cinema line camera switching from Canon of-course. But now I see the A7C is not bad at all plus it’s a lot cheaper
You’re colors do looks superb! Better than with you did with canon. That’s a fact!
What would you suggest for filming outdoor scenery, sunsets, lo fi, landscapes, cityscapes… particularly nightime scenes with lights, reflections etc… also the same for photos
I am a beginner and use iphone for filming and would love to upgrade to my first camera for photo and video but have no clue what to choose… I am here watching videos like this trying to figure out but it is so hard for me because I am so unfamiliar with the equipment on the market. Please help
The fix I landed on for the no continuous AF on interval shooting was to purchase a wireless remote that can also do interval shooting. Annoying to spend an extra $40 on a remote system to do something it should easily do internally, but it does the job.
Send me the link!
If you like that try the A7c r its is awesome
I m curios why you didn’t get the Sony A7Siii or the FX3 which would allow you to keep a smaller frame but still be used for production if you ever needed it
I have a Sony A7Siii and a Sony A7C the first model. Autofocus def don’t miss and the picture quality is def awesome. I think the A7C A7Siii and FX3 all have the same sensor
you should do a "whats in my camera bag" video.
It’s hard to find a gripe when you’re shopping in that price range, but I feel you. Gotta choose whatever works best for the job.
The joystick is the only think I wish my A7CR had.
I get the HDMI issue but it's also a small camera they need to cut down on size somewhere and the HDMI makes sense as it's large. If you need a fulls size HDMI the a7iv is the better option
You have me over here contemplating whether or not I want to switch lol
I use the Sony A7C and its also very good, at least i love it, but the new features of the A7CII look like it made it even better
I have a solution for lack of Joystick
1.Manu
2.setup
3.touch operation
4.shooting screen
5.touch function in shooting
6.touch focus
Now you can use your touch screen as a joystick or trackpad 👍🏼
This video, THIS VIDEO. More of this.
So should I switch to Sony bro? 👀
Iv heard good things about this camera, getting soon ..
have you had any overheating issues with 30+ min videos?
Also, do you use a lut or can you upolad without too much color correction? I too have darker skin and dont see many darker creators talking about sony skin tones.
Thanks so much!
Im pretty sure the pre focus otion is your solution or it might only work with sony lense ... i'll check it out
Nevermind you are right, well thats dumb
Own R5 & R6mii & R8 used them more for still and the R5 for vid but adding the c70
16DR hit different man
I love my fx30 and my fx3. I gotta a lot of cameras but I pick up my sonys first
Highly recommend you pair it up with the zv-e1 (mini fx3). It’s. A lowlight content monster
What have been your go to lenses 90% of the time on the sony?
Surprised you didn’t go for the FX30 or FX3
*FX30
Great cameras, just more than I need honestly.
Well canon is cool every body going over to Sony UA-cam, freelancer, and pro
Would you benefit from a better low light performance or stabilization?🤔
as a kid I would call that phone number alllll the time expecting to talk to Mike Jones :( lol
Lmaoooo. I’m glad somebody caught that reference
@ I got a R6II new for $1650 no tax. Best camera I own now. Like it more than my A7S3
@ that’s a good deal
The problem with this philosophy for me is, i can always justify owning something even if I never use it haha. I don’t need all these cameras to create content.
@@YCImaging there like playing guitar. They each have a different look than the other. When people say they are the same I disagree. If they were than no one would switch.
maybe you can try using a slower shooting speed,
I know that it’s not a topic of the video, but what’s the brand of your black hoodie? It looks amazing. 🤩
Caught the Mike Jones reference
I love my both my A7C and A7Cii, I’ve been trying to justify upgrading to a camera that shoots 6k but these just out perform in features. Hopefully the mark iii shoot in 6k.
Bro, can you please tell me what do you keep your in camera detail level on for 4K/HD nobody can seem to answer this question maybe you can thanks
Whatever it comes out of the box, I’m not even sure how to adjust this setting.
@ cool thanks
At the laundromat watching this video.. I have both Canon and Sony .. greedy right lol .. I do a lot of BTS for videos and film so depending on the clients or what I’m shooting I know which one I’m going use lol however it’s Canon 1st and then Sony lol
Should have gotten the Sony a7iv
1DXmark 2
Canon has the color science. There is a difference.
🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣.. how much is your Canon gear??
You mean for sell? I sold it all a while ago.
I switch from Canon to Red. I got a Komodo x, brand new for $4000. I got lucky.
That’s actually fire!
WHERE'D YOU GET THAT HOODY YC! sorry for yelling
Abercrombie, overweight cropped. 🔥
Damn my boy a whole Sony boy now 😢
Because there are so many features and cameras, I find all menu systems a little confusing and hard to find the feature or function that I actually want. But out of all of them I find Panasonic to be the most user-friendly. Fuji is straight trash and the old menu system from the A7 wasn't that good either.
canon is not better than sony, but bro, from all the models u picked the acii? wtf? why not fx3, a7iv, a1 mark 1 or 2, a9 mark 3, a7r5? or even a7siii
Canon IS better than Sony
@@petrub27 the AS3 is the best. Has it all and does great for photography even with 12mp
Bro all them cameras are elite but the sony a7c II can battle with them depending on the shooter everything is personal preference but real world usage the sony a7c II is a major underrated camera bro way underrated because it’s not the main marketing camera
Most of those you named have horrible rolling shutter, and canon lenses are extremely better.
@@TheOneAboveAll_ totally agree.
You should do a giveaway for all your Canon gear...atleast it can get work done for someone who will appreciate it instead of it just sitting being used here and there IF you even still use it.
I currently only own the a7C II, it’s my main camera.
Bro please can I win the Dji action 4 I wanna start making videos and I already have my name is Semir you can also see I’ve bought ur colour correction material please man I really need this camera
i miss my canon lol
i do enjoy the video quality sony produces though 😮💨
I aint on this level of camera yet
I use a73
Switching from canon to sony is such a fool move hahaha
You’re coming from the C70 and seriously don’t want to talk about Canon colors and dynamic range?
Downvote for not being real!!!
canon colors... man I love the people talk about that because they don't know how to color grade or lack imagination and want their shit to look as generic as the fellow users who use the same gear., also Isn't the c70 an apsc sensor?
Sony’s color science isn’t a matter of opinion. Whether colors are represented accurately or not is something your eyes can tell you. However, if you’re brand-blind, feel free to keep convincing yourself it’s just an opinion. 😂

@matthiass5751 they are both great. Nothing to fight about boys
Im going to shift my blue’s to teal anyways lol. Point being, after I apply the grade I enjoy, it’s rarely ever color accurate.
wich lut were use in this video?
