This video will show you how to use Nikon D3300 to record video. Topics covered include setting up camera, formatting memory card, recording in Auto mode, recording in manual mode, auto and manual focus, and some other tips like with 1920x1080 resolution, camera can only record 10 minutes video.
Disclaimer: Formatting your memory card will delete all photos and videos on your memory card. Do not do this step if you have data you want to keep on the memory card.
Could you please help me? I have a Nixon DX AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G camera and I do not know how to take videos with it. I tried doing what your video says but it's not the same camera as the one I have. Thanks.

Green Wood Excuse me Wood but the complaints arent hate comments. The video was definitely clear. Its just that people are upset that all their photos were deleted because the woman said to delete them before telling that it would delete them. Thank you for reading

If anyone knows ANYTHING in general about SD cards, one should know that formatting will delete everything on your card. This even goes wayyyy back to floppy disks and rewriteable CD's/DVD's. Sorry you guys have deleted your information, but it should have been backed up regularly anyway to a PC, laptop, or external hard drive. Always back up everything and don't have all of your valuable video/photos in one place. :) :( Great video! I learned a lot!

6:22 This is incorrect. You can set the camera to full-time-servo autofocus (AF-F) in LiveView mode and the camera will keep refocussing while the video is shooting.

I made 3 videos before I watched this. There was no need to format my card. You will lose everything on the card if you do that.

I don’t know what to do I filmed many videos on this camera but I pressed the photo button to make it focus once and now it won’t record at at and when I press LV there is small writing that says rec and this is crossed out and it won’t record

I have Nikon Dx ( Af -p Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G) and I got only 14 Gb memory card. I have to take video till 2.5 hours.. so can I reduce video quality to take all video with out full of memory card space.

look, not to hate, but I have to get my point out. While I was watching this video, I followed the instructions 1 by 1. The fact that they said formating the memory card would delete all your photos AFTER saying to do the step caused me to delete all my photos, not all of which were on my computer. So, when your giving a tutorial, say what each thing will do first, AND THEN you say what to do for the step. Sorry if I look like im hating on the video, because I'm not. Like if the same happened to you and you want to get the point around.
I get your point, but man, were you expecting something else to happen? Besides... you can do all what's presented in the video without formatting anything. By the way, why is it even a step?

What if I want to video myself and there is nobody to hit the focus button before recording?
Dr. James Spurgeon do a sample shot of just adjusting the focus with you sitting there till you achieve what looks best. Then record a "final take" . After a few takes you can get a feel of where the focus needs to be,little time consuming alone but it can be done

Put the camera in auto focus mode (is it called live focus maybe?) and put it at around f6.0 That should make it easy. If you see the camera going nuts and trying to focus on million things, set it to a higher f value (and increase ISO if the image is too dark). Simple.
