These assembly holders are better than they first appear imo. Whenever I can I always paint the heads of minis separately, so there's that. But when it comes to having to fiddle around with corks, blutack and bits of wire for the assembly, for me, these things win.
I'm torn on trying these out myself. While to get all these items isnt cheap compared to going old school with free paint stir sticks for spraying, empty pill bottles for painting handles, and paperclips for those pesky heads and sub assembly's they do offer a tiny bit of organization/method to the madness. Cant decide if its worth it overall.
Thank you for this walk through!! Bought this on my own for some reason, no freaking clue how to use it until now- should have just a stuck with drilling a hole in the base of the heads and using half a toothpick. Oh well, live and learn!
it's nice that you'll be painting sister exosuits, they're a bit of a pain in the tabards, but the whole line of sisters finally looks correct in terms of female anatomy. How many paintable armor do you have?
While I like that its designed to work with the paint stick etc this actually seems like more time and work than im currently spending by sticking a piece to a cocktail stick with a little blu-tak. Ill pass on this. Thanks for showing what these really are so I dont waste my money 😁
Umm... so basically you have to glue a head on a little plastic spike, and that's it? No thanks, not diggin' it. I prefer the old method of putty + metal rod. Does not damage the head in any way, is cheaper, and it's not GW.
When they revealed these I was feeling it because with the Black Templars I'm painting the unhelmeted heads seperate from the body but the way they described using them sounded like you would cut off the nub on each winglet after you were done sounding awfully pricey and wasteful.
Buy some bamboo skewers and a few alligator clips. Fasten alligator clips to end of skewers. Voila, a far better tool for holding pieces and no glue needed. Also far cheaper.

Super Glue + Debonder + spike from GW = super duper coolness according to GW. Your best test was at the end, a beautiful summary of this "miracle";)
Might buy them for a self-defense weapon by the bed. Looks brutal, Khorne would be pleased.
Thank you Naomi 😀
Thank you , Lady Naomi .
Looks like GW have found a way to sell old rope !
Thank you for the look-see ,
not for me , even if it was free ,
Thank you so much for the review... I couldn't figure why these were a thing
Personally I have to paint heads separately if I want them to look any good

Another good review, thanks for sharing
Tom Vassel would approve your durability test.
Durability check? Check! Weapons check? Check! So... a durable weapon. Cool.
all you need for a sub assembly is a blu-tak, chopstick or a wooden skewer and some cork
Do you mask the contact points with tape, or do you just make sure the point of contact is where you superglue it to these "sprues"?
The latter :) but if I have to I would mask
Wow. Thanks Naomi! I'm honestly baffled @ GW for this, goofy crap! 150mm long metal wire alligator clips, 50 pack for $8 US on Amazon.
Glad you checked durably.....whew. I thought they might break.

A table top, percussive 'Whoopsie' !!

Great suggestion, but I recommend a frying pan.
What are the little wings for?
So you can twist them out of whatever is holding them
Please remember to like and comment to appease the almighty algorithm 😁👍🏼❤️
Still looking beautiful!
I don't paint in subassembly so not very useful for me. Thanks for the review tho🙂
Could use the paint stick with the plastic spikes like a back scratcher.
Why put a sword in your bed?
That's very specific. " Nods in understanding " I'm a machete man myself.
The enthusiasm for these gubbins is palpable lol
Save on plastic mouldings and make a home made impliment out of wood and a nail or three.

I have Prosecco corks, blu-tac and brass rod. Hard pass.
Nagyon szépike vagy🌹🌹🌹🌹
;)
Is it a waste of plastic? Yep.
Chopsticks are free with takeout dinner

GW has time to invent such a crap instead of producing where is demand for...
The things are Not even worth a whoopsie. Though I did appreciate the durability test.
:-) :-)
Stupid product, I could just cut off some sprues and glue it wiht parts...
Just paint on the sprue before you cut the pieces off.
I'll just stick to toothpicks.
