With testing different trunk cars over the years I’ve always found it’s the loudest/lowest with the sub firing in the corner of the trunk (little sealed box to find peak frequencies of the car)…I’m currently doing 1 18 in the trunk sub up port side firing, loads up really nice
@@Clare.1985 That's the nice thing about building your own boxes, using a sub calculator you can squash the top down and expand it wherever needed to both make it fit and give the sub it's optimal volume. My Impala has a huge trunk but the stupid opening didn't let me put in a 15" with a typical enclosure so I built my own ported box with some weird dimensions but it works perfectly. >;D
I've actually got mine running parallel with the driver side and for some reason it sounds better that way. I never thought of trying to flip it around to put the port on the other side though I'll have to try that.
Port in a sedan trunk can also be moved to which ever side of the back seat folds down allowing subs to load of the back of the larger seat and porting into cabin on the small side that folds down.
Mr Garcez knows the goldilocks sweet zone with the droop eye wave deflection technique for win 😁 it's like technicolor for the ear bones, don't just tickle my lobes man puts some stank on it!!!
I plan on running my single 12" front firing sub / front firing port subwoofer enclosure with the subwoofer & slot port facing the truck. Can't wait till my enclosure is finally done & have it at my front door step. Should be done any day now being you said Tuesday or Wednesday this week it would be done.
I blew the lights out and then the rear lid after. Ended up facing towards cabin area and porting through the fold down seat . Sounds way better now and no more damage for now although the doors now flex really crazy at the top above the windows
Sub in corner subs port facing port towards the longer back seat and having the shorter back seat pulled down in a car. Sound deadening trunk and doors. Long throw Bass output . Bass from the subs port Hits the back seat and the seat that pulled down acts like a port into the car. Port within a port in a way. Running a PRV DSP for the tune. Always Play around with sub position sometimes finding what sounds best to you might go against what other's are doing do what sounds best to you. Got some 8s hitting like big dawgs in a kerf enclosure.
Like what he saying about position on that design but i had all trunk setups best is subs forward port to the side box pushes all the way back which isn't much if running 2 12s. Do a 8" aero or big slot so the drivers side. They meter on passenger side.
It's actually the difference of the waves being sumed in the box vs. trying to have two different port parhs and then suming them in the port. In other words it's easier and more predictavle and uses less material. But if you want to flip boxes around that's up to you.
Would you say that the same thing could apply to a SUV? I have a 2003 Tahoe, and was told by someone that Tahoes like center ports. I built a center ported enclosure, but am now limited to only getting the response from the port in that location.
I have a 2018 Infiniti Q70. my seat doesnt fold down unfortunately. I have a single 12 Skaar right now with a ported box. do you think it would make a big difference if I removed the old factory sub on the rear deck and left it open so that it could breathe more?
yes absolutely, I actually carefull with a sawzall removed as much material from the Rear Deck as I could without messing with the structural integrity.. It made a ton of difference.... For your Q, depending how big the facory subwoofer hole is... you can even get a hude Aero Port.... try and find the total cubic air space of your trunk with the 12 driver.. and find a length of a big aero port.... Like 8 inch Hole and 16 inched long... you then could literally turn your trunk into a large box if done right
So if im building a 4th order in my trunk will a rear facing port sound good if the sealed portion firing in the cabin? Port being in the middle of the back inside trunk
@@chamhadcoler5079 what is the point of having a ported box tuned to a certain frequency then having an epicenter to override that? Also you do not need an epicenter you can do the same thing with coils on your woofers and capacitors on your mid's and highs
Only no no is not trying, tho you may be limit on options by box or trunk dimensions . I’d argue if dimensions of box and trunk allow (smaller single sub will give the most options) your options are limited by your imagination as long as you don’t block the port. All depends on the sound you’re looking for. Bigger the box or bigger the port opening the fewer the options. ie 4” dia port needs to be at least 4” away from anything
Port center u can face forward, backwards, firing up, or catty corner the box towards each tail light. Mines in a trunk, i fired it every which way possible, firing up like a Gately box hits hardest and lowest in my car
HEYYY! I've been scrolling through your videos and you are very educated in this subject. I want to add my own aeroport to a prefab box and want it to be to spec of the net volume of the box (4 cubic foot) I want to tune around 28hz because I listen to rebassed music and love the lows. I've tried everything on the online calculators and can't get it right. Jerry ain't loud's channel recommended to go a little low on port area to build port velocity to get windy lows. Please help me or make a video on this subject. IM TRYNNA GET WINDY MAN!!! PS subs I have are 2 American bass xfls 2ohm
Good video bro... trunk builds are the hardest to get loud but this explains the right box for your setup..

I have a 01 buick century with a 15 in a side firing enclosure. I have been wondering if I could fit an 18 in there.

Hello sir I must say your are one smart man you are bringing a lots of new to game thanks and God bless 💯

That when the subs is at max rate power for over one whole minute
An theres smoke coming from the ports lol.
Simple yet easily overlooked. Good vid

That makes perfect sense bro

Port rear firing on passenger side was loudest in my bmw.. however I blew the back lights out of the trunk literally

cool video like always, knowledge is power❤
What about a box design with subs facing towards the cabin and a port on the right side of the box facing the wall of the trunk.?
What's a rule of thumb for distance you would have your port from it's loading wall?
Very good information, keep up the good content!💯💯
I have a center port and i tried 5 positions before finding the obvious louder (spl) in trunk system
I like to have the subs firing forward and aero port firing out the side of the box, on the drivers side
Thank you
Nice video I didn't think about that!💪🏾
I Have a Trailblaze would this be the best box design for a pair of Q Power 15s or should it be subs up port back just wondering what you think
🤔
Those Q power 15s go hard . I've had some had some that I passed down to my lil brother n law that are about 15 years old and still going strong
Could you do sub up port up?
I love this info bro!
Thanks now I know

Na'll na'll na'll speakers facing backwards and also port ass well with da box pushed all da way against da back seat.

You actually have 4 positions with center port. Down up rear or front firing.
I like my subwoofer box facing up less trunk rattling rear more decibels front cleaner sound
I have 3 12s in a box firing back ports on top should I put the ports facing inside the car or no
Salute💯
You da man 🤙🏽

Ahhhh I see …. One step closer
How about port location on a wall?
what about for an SUV

im trying to figure out how to do 4x12s in a 04 impala i seen someone with 4 in a 4th ourder
What about facing up
So if im building a 4th order in my trunk will a rear facing port sound good if the sealed portion firing in the cabin? Port being in the middle of the back inside trunk
I sub and port on driver side facing in the cab but my windows flex more but when towards the trunk everything shakes more
Do u make midgate boxes for 2003 avalanche
What if subs facing forward, but vent/port is out the back on the bottom/top edge? I havent seen that yet, maybe for a good reason.
Those boxes have 4 triangle ports at the bottom of the box & they are small ,
What is the best box (sealed or ported) for say rock music like AC/DC, Stained, Metallica and music like that?
EPICENTER

What if the box is up right
Surely you have 5 positions because you could have the port/speakers facing up. Or is that a No No🤔🤔
Height and depth of box are not equal. If box is on its back with woofers pointing up, you can't close the trunk.
Only no no is not trying, tho you may be limit on options by box or trunk dimensions . You've missed one more bro you can turn it firing up you get 5 different positions
Actually 6 cuz port can still be left or right…
8 if you can orient it length wise…. 12 if u wanna include left/right/centre with port forward or aft…
And if u got a van/suv u can stand it up on its side for basically infinite options….
What do you recommend for 2 skar evl 12 on a 1800.1 kicker amp I have a 2012 M37 INFINITI
Quick question, D2, DD, DC OR CTaudio ? Which one should I go with, looking for a pair of 8”
DD
Website where I can order DD SUBS ?
How do I get ahold you for a build
You forgot port up with center port box as an option
How bout 6 positions. Subs facing up
2 more positions if port facing up...
You really get 6 different ways cause u can face it up both ways also
This is a good conversation but some of you guys are acting like you are just learning this
Well that is the whole point of this channel, it is for people without much car audio experience so they can learn.
I got 6 12" and I wanna build a box can anyone offer tips please
💯
Subs forward. Port to side.
What up bro I hit you up and left a voicemail I need a box for my Tahoe
5 positions
Unlike mids and tweets which are very directional, bass is not!
Wtf r u saying rarrarra ja rule lmao
This is not the best sub/ port orientation for a trunk car
