I personally always thought the visions were an accident: Doyle wanted a kiss goodbye, that was it. The Powers That Be, though, weren’t going to let the visions die with Doyle, so they intervened.
We already had multiple other dimensions on Buffy, though. The one Angel was sent to, the one Buffy and Anne escaped from, the one Buffy's roommate Kathy came from... Those were all different demon dimensions.
Glad to see someone else with the earworm named Spike after watching Buffy. "How much is that? Enough for Spike to do the job." "Imagine if Spike saw this, aw, his commentary would be killer!" Yeah, I know those feelings, Spike is just so charismatically funny he steals scenes even after the episode ends. What's particularly wild is that he was originally supposed to be a one shot villain of the week, but James Masters just nailed the performance so well he became a regular, escaping death at least twice (at the end of that first ep, and when Dru was restored) to Joss' initial outrage (at least I think it was only initial, dunno how long he held on to that for). One of the rare cases of writing, directing, costume and actor working so well the resulting character takes a life of it's own beyond original intent.
I think you missed recognizing another Avengers actor here! The guy helping the female demons is played by Sean Gunn, who plays Kraglin in Guardians of the Galaxy. He also appeared briefly in episode 9 but he played a demon in that episode, so the makeup made him less recognizable.
This episode is so hated, but I love it for the dancing, and Angel’s turn as an art museum guide. I also thought Bai Ling’s character was compelling. The episode has a Star Trek TNG vibe that maybe doesn’t fit with the show, but I don’t think it’s terrible.
When Joss Whedon, Eliza Dushku, and Tahmoh Penikett were at Comic Con advertising _Dollhouse_ in 2008, a fan asked Tahmoh a possibly insensitive (yet oddly funny) question in reference to _Battlestar Galactica,_ saying, "Does Eliza's spine glow?" AtS started three years before _Battlestar Galactica._ This episode has a reference just as similar as that fans question, which makes me wonder if the mythology from _Battlestar Galactica 1978_ had the reference or if Joss Whedon (or David Greenwalt and Marti Noxon as they're the writers of this episode) found something else that gave them the idea for the demon mythology and how the plot of this episode works.
How did I forget Sean Gunn was in this episode?! I just watched Guardians of the Galaxy 3 last night. I love his character here. There's no one better to protect a group of women than a gay man who will divert any creep from getting close. The dancing gives me so much joy. It's amazing that I didn't realize I was queer earlier because I was obsessed with Jhiera, too. The inspiration this episode got from FGM makes it so potent.
While I think this is one of the weaker episodes of Season 1, Angel dancing never grows old 😂. Anytime I’m having a bad day and want a good chuckle to cheer myself, I play the clip.
This is the only episode of the Buffyverse I skip. Besides the funny dancing, there is just nothing here that makes me want to watch it. It has absolutely no effect on the bigger storyline or the character development. But I still appreciate your reaction! Binging them all now.
The existence of other dimensions has always been implied in the Buffyverse. The Hellmouth leads *somewhere* after all. Hell is just another dimension, and there are in fact many "hells." Demons are just beings from other dimensions. The show goes into this a lot more over the seasons (not a spoiler), and we even get to see some other dimensions.
Probably the most hated episode of Angel, and definitely unwarranted in my opinion. As shown from how many times you laughed in your reaction, there's some great moments. Angel being an awkward old man is always entertaining. And as you said, there's some interesting social commentary in this one.

Angel and Wesley together are hilarious. The awkwardness is just too good. 😅. The dancing…omg…🤨😆😆😆
An episode of Angel and Wesley dancing with Spike doing commentary? I wouldn't survive the hilarity. 😆
7:37 Remember when Angelus drew Buffy, her mom and Jenny? He’s been known to do doodle.
We already had multiple other dimensions on Buffy, though. The one Angel was sent to, the one Buffy and Anne escaped from, the one Buffy's roommate Kathy came from... Those were all different demon dimensions.
I always liked this episode myself. Creative.
One of my favorite episodes just for the dance scene and the credit dance scene continued. 😂

"She's definitely going to appear again, right?"
SPOILER
She should have!
.
This isn't one of my top favorite Angel episodes, but the dancing scene is worth the price of admission right there. Hilarious.

He's also the brother of Guardians of the Galaxy's director James Gunn.
It's funny there's a wide open double door right there at 8:18 when Angel is running up the wall to the roof.
Fun Fact, Bai Ling also played "Myca" in The Crow 1994.

Loved your reaction. Thanks!
And....you've reached the absolute nadir of this show. From here on, it gets much better....
Whoa whoa…let’s not act like “The Ring” isn’t still on the docket lol Gotta get through that mid ass episode still
At least until the last two seasons...

Just when I thought Wesley dancing was the funniest thing ever... 4:00 🤣🤣🤣

You didn’t forget about Angel’s amazing art skills, did you? Passion? His skills actually get worse as the show goes on.
Beat me to it!
Just want to say one thing.Your hairs are beautiful👌.
this episode always makes me scratch my head like what? 🤔 not sure if i love it or hate it.
What’s the main thing you hate about it? I haven’t seen the episode properly in a while so I’ve kinda forgotten

Better than iPhones? In 2001?
Terrible episode. Aside from the dancing. 🕺
