I think that if the aces want another backup for Aja then they should look for a big that can shoot. And I found one! Ashten prechtel 6’5 and long can shoot the 3 and block shots has gotten a lot better overseas. If you look at her college stats you won’t be impressed (she didn’t get a chance at Stanford) but just look at her stats overseas she’s dominating and would spread the floor to let the guards drive/kick. Definitely take a look at her and give me your opinion!
I love the find! I'll have to go take a look at some film, but I love looking for those types of players. Also cool to seem them thriving after beening drafted late. 6'5 and can shoot is certainly the name of the new WNBA, too! Appreciate the insights!
@@WNBAnow i agree i have been a standford fan since 2015 and ashten was a big part of the 2021 title. she didnt get enough time but i saw good things. Loved seeing her defense on boston. glad to see she won a mvp overseas! wnbanow did you look at her film?
They need to address the need for a true point guard to back up Chelsea Gray. Prior to her injury, she was responsible for so much of their offense. The point guard by committee strategy doesn't really work that well in the WNBA. They need someone to facilitate their offense or else they will struggle. UNLESS, A'Ja Wilson develops a passing game. In that case, she will be the second coming of Candace Parker/Lisa Leslie and they will be virtually unbeatable because of all the attention that she draws when she has the ball.
I think you raise valid points here. Especially considering you want CG healthy and rested for the postseason push. A very competent backup might be just was the doctor ordered!
@WNBAnow I agree. I hope they have the willingness to make some hard decisions this postseason. Otherwise, it may be a repeat of last year. Thank you so much for your content.
I love TJ! Really hope she gets a run to go somewhere! I don't mind the MHA pickup either, but they'd have to eat the Bell contract, so I'm not sure how the math goes. Also, Plum would have to take a pay cut to sign a one-year deal and not use up a core des year. I like your squad, tho, although Clark can't start imo. She will be most effective at the 15-20 off the bench roll
that an interesting setup but honestly that kelsey, natalie & becky chess move makes sense lol....those sneaky coaches lol ....my only concern is who going to be their small guards...because as nice as it is to go big they still need small guards for quick high offensive players in chenn, kelsey plum, arike and kelsey mitchell....i also think the aces (though i hope the sky does something to interrupt this) picks raven johnson small guard that can defend and s. prince (an adequate center) with their second round draft picks....though becky likes veterans ...so ur idea works better (not that i am going to complain since that puts the sky in position to get raven johnson)
Started loving/following the team last year and all of the personalities/talent. So imagine my surprise to know they essentially had the same makeup the year before to win a championship. I understand the failing of an aging formula and the league getting more competitive, but, and this may need to be explained to me, why isn't the factor of having pretty much their whole starting lineup possibly strained due to olympic participation not considered at all as to why the team might have struggled? All of this talk about breaking up the "core 4" just doesn't sit right with me. I am such a huge fan of last season's roster and feel they are such a formidable force. I am genuinely confused that they're being dismissed like this.
That's interesting. Dont think Hayes wants to play for Conn as she retired from there, but trading Plum for Thomas and then having Bonner sign a team-friendly deal would definitely put them right back in the driver's seat. Good thought!
Seems to me that they have lots of others they could get rid of before they touch anyone in the Core 4. Tiffany Hayes, Alysha Clark and Sydney Colson are all at risk of aging out. Kiersten Bell, Megan Gustafson, and even Kiah Stokes don't add much value to the team. That could free up a lot of room for some much-needed fresh blood, particularly for a backup point guard and a power forward. They'd probably be better off looking for some good and affordable free agents to pick up rather trying to get lucky with the draft but hope springs eternal. It is way past time that they brought Kitley into the mix somehow. Maybe bring back Dyaisha Fair and Queen Egbo and round out the roster with a small forward, a stretch forward, and a combo guard. Easier said than done right? Might take a few years to get there fully but looks doable eventually. Or it could work right now, at least as a stop gap measure, if Kiersten Bell or Megan Gustafson and Kiah Stokes can step up their scoring and defense while Tiffany Hayes can hold on for a few more seasons.
The problem is the money. They can get rid of KS or MG and it won't count against the cap (Bell it would) but even still. The core 4 salaries will cost the team over half of the cap with 8 roster spots to fill. Don't get me wrong, I think they will be back with a vengeance regardless, but to win a title I think they need to spread the wealth and they only way I see that is by unloading their biggest contract for multiple pieces that fit the things they need, without taking away from the overall skill set of the team
YES! I love this series!!!
Appreciate you!!!

Harold I really like your second rebuild on making the Aces a contender trade K. Plum gives them more options to reload.
cut bell(85), gustafson(97) and stokes(103). sign plum(210), hayes(100k), clark(100k), hines allen(200k) taiyanna jackson(70k), egbo(80k) and kitley(69k). draft any combo of emily ryan, utsby, ayoka lee, hvl, rayah marshall, van oelhoffen, deyonda gaston and diamond johnson
starters-gray, jy, clark, aja, egbo
bench- plum, hayes, hines allen ,kitley at pf, taiyanna jackson
reserves- rookie pg, rookie big/wing

Try to get Britney griner or Natasha Howard
I don’t like that second scenario if I was the aces trade plum and Hayes to Connecticut for Bonner and Thomas

@@WNBAnow Great argument. Would certainly be interesting to see them make such a bold move.
What if they grab alyssa thomas as FA
At 5:30, you said Kelsey Mitchell instead of Kelsey Plum. Mitchell last played for the Indiana Fever.
Pure misspeak! Should have caught it in the edit!
Trade Plum and Gray
I think Plum is a real possibility
