    I think LA should use all of their picks on guards. It's Rae Burrell and a dream right now, while their frontcourt, featuring Cam, Rickea, Dearica, and Azura, is already stacked with long-term and short-term talent. Get Miles with the #2 pick, Paopao/Fudd/Sellers with the #13 pick, and if HVL is available take her with the 26th or 28th pick.

    • @WNBAnow

      It will be interesting to see where Paopao and Fudd go, but in my latest mock 2.0 (coming out next week) I have them in the first. Fair to think they should go guard but I'm still rolling the dice in free agency bc of cap room and the hope that this front court and offensive scheme can attract some bigger name established 1s

    I love for KiKi to team up with Angel Reese…Kiki put you in the mind of the likes of Allisha Gray. Kiki is extremely talented and just like Allisha would fit better with the Sky, Kiki would fit better with The Sky as well with her ability to shoot over defenders… the Sky needs shooters, bad!!! But… I cant wait to see where Kiki land…

      That's interesting. Dont think Hayes wants to play for Conn as she retired from there, but trading Plum for Thomas and then having Bonner sign a team-friendly deal would definitely put them right back in the driver's seat. Good thought!

    You can say LA should take Kiki Iriafen over Olivia Miles. But saying Shyanne, Georgia, or HVL has a similar floor/ceiling is just wrong. Shyanne doesn't shoot enough. Georgia is not efficient, and liability on D. HVL (5'7, not 5'9) is also a liability on D.

    Why is the wnba commmunity(in general) low on Odyssey Sims? She was a former 2nd overall pick and balled out last year?

    • @WNBAnow
      @WNBAnow 2 дні тому

      It's a totally valid question. I'm definitely not low on her and would be 100% cool with LA bringing her back. It was criminal that she was off a roster for so long last season and definitely agree she will be hoping for someone next year and undoubtedly scoring buckets

  • @tonyburns1029

    The Sparks should target Awak Kuier (Dallas) for the frontcourt and Marine Johannes (Liberty) in the backcourt. Dallas is overflowing with frontcourt players and the 6-foot-6 Kuier didn't come over last season. Johannes also stayed overseas last season and the Liberty's roster is already stacked. The new LA coach probably has more interest in Minnesota's Alissa Pili than Haley Jones. The rosters in Minnesota and New York are loaded. I would target any bench or role player from those two teams. As for the draft, Iriafin is very good but what are you doing with Hamby? LA has to get a lead guard and why get the third or fourth best when you can get Olivia Miles, the best point guard in the draft, who should be a day one starter? By the way, I'm a huge Haley Van Lith fan but if Sellers is available, I'd take her at 13. Van Lith struggled at LSU against super athletic guards. The WNBA is loaded with super athletic point guards.

    • @WNBAnow
      @WNBAnow 2 дні тому

      Love AK and MJ, but feel like they'd be hard sells. Certainly open to that, tho, if they can swing. Hamby is a UFA after next season and will looking for max. That would be okay, I suppose, but, imo, Kiki is a far superior offensive talent already, and you can use that max money to go get an established point guard on a long term deal/wait on another (imo LA still a year or two away from seriously competing which means more high draft picks). I initially had Miles going 3 to Chicago in my first mock, but even with the year she is having, I'm just never taking her over the size, speed and athleticism of Kiki

    • @kelsawlink60
      @kelsawlink60 2 дні тому

      @@WNBAnowI can see them taking Kiki given Hamby's age and the ages of the rest of their core players, but to say Iriafen is better would be incorrect. Hamby was putting up All WNBA numbers for the first third of the past season. She's also a solid three point shooter and double digit rebounder. Kiki looked bad against Notre Dame. She played well against UConn, but didn't put up superstar numbers and got into foul trouble.

  • @JasperRedd
    @JasperRedd 3 дні тому

    You play a clip of Lynn Roberts telling you exactly how she wants the Sparks to play, yet believe they should draft Kiki Iriafen who doesnt fit Roberts style at all Next you say the Sparks should draft Van Lith, even though she's not a true point guard and a streaky shooter, another ill-fit Everything you said about Van Lith is actually who Olivia Miles is and proves why she'll be picked #2 by LA Nigga said Van Lith was box office, hahaha How you box office at the 13th pick? Make it make sense

    Olivia Miles.shoulx be the !st. round pick. Yeryui has vast potential and should start in my opinion. She would fit perfectly because she can really play if given the chance,she also would fit the new offense with her 3 point shooting. The team is grooming Brink to be a Forward. Then get a quality free agent shooting guard. Also don't forget Shaniece Swain coming over next season.

    • @WNBAnow
      @WNBAnow 3 дні тому

      Totally agree that LY is an excellent prospect but she all but said she has no interest in LA next season (unclear if Miller getting fired changes that) Swain would be a great unsigned draftee, but also have a wait and see approach on her entry

  • @Dunybrook
    @Dunybrook 3 дні тому

    I will be very surprised if somebody doesn't snatch up Shyanne Sellers well before 13th. She just fits in with what too many teams need in a draft pick. Whomever they pick, they could also stand to replace Zia Cooke with somebody more exciting. I also think they will be fine if they can pick up a big and a wing or a couple of wings with their remaining draft picks. It's a very deep draft this year so you can't count out even 3rd round picks.

    • @WNBAnow
      @WNBAnow 3 дні тому

      All fair points, and I actually love Sellers (originally 10th in Mock 1.0) but the complete lack of outside game is a big knock, imo. I certainly won't be too upset if someone takes her late 1st, but I do think the lack of shooting will be a hindering on the next level. I think Cooke stands to take a step forward without Miller at the helm, tbh, so Id like to see her with one season under Roberts

  • @Rebound703
    @Rebound703 3 дні тому

    Like that starting five with Satou in the mix. But the Fever need a bucket getter off the bench and I think that player is Chennedy Carter. The shoulder check incident can be talked out and resolved. It's not something that's irreparable. And by signing her you'd be keeping her away from the Liberty, Aces and Lynx. I know fans don't want her and are concerned about potential attitude issues. Chicago's locker room last season was toxic because of Reese. I think with her being around Mitchell, Sabally, Cc & Stephanie White, there wouldn't be any issues. Look, the young lady can hoop and she loves the game. You add her offence off the bench you'er looking at a championship team. And not one, we're trying to win multiple titles.

    • @WNBAnow
      @WNBAnow 2 дні тому

      CC with CC would win some headlines for sure, and it would win games, too! I appreciate you putting hoops over all else. Interesting thought. Not sure I agree with the Reese bit, but Carter off the bench would be a nasty punch. I'll be interested to see what the going rate is for her to see if they could make it work financially

      @WNBAnow 2 дні тому

    @Dunybrook 4 дні тому

    Seems to me that they have lots of others they could get rid of before they touch anyone in the Core 4. Tiffany Hayes, Alysha Clark and Sydney Colson are all at risk of aging out. Kiersten Bell, Megan Gustafson, and even Kiah Stokes don't add much value to the team. That could free up a lot of room for some much-needed fresh blood, particularly for a backup point guard and a power forward. They'd probably be better off looking for some good and affordable free agents to pick up rather trying to get lucky with the draft but hope springs eternal. It is way past time that they brought Kitley into the mix somehow. Maybe bring back Dyaisha Fair and Queen Egbo and round out the roster with a small forward, a stretch forward, and a combo guard. Easier said than done right? Might take a few years to get there fully but looks doable eventually. Or it could work right now, at least as a stop gap measure, if Kiersten Bell or Megan Gustafson and Kiah Stokes can step up their scoring and defense while Tiffany Hayes can hold on for a few more seasons.

    • @WNBAnow
      @WNBAnow 2 дні тому

      The problem is the money. They can get rid of KS or MG and it won't count against the cap (Bell it would) but even still. The core 4 salaries will cost the team over half of the cap with 8 roster spots to fill. Don't get me wrong, I think they will be back with a vengeance regardless, but to win a title I think they need to spread the wealth and they only way I see that is by unloading their biggest contract for multiple pieces that fit the things they need, without taking away from the overall skill set of the team

    Thank you for no AI. Great analysis. Remember WNBA has more expansion teams coming in 2026 too. teams are going to lose more players Also with CBA opt out new contracts will probably be 1 year. Fever was going to lose Temi anyway so they couldn’t save her. 🏀

  • @chrisbadger8684
    @chrisbadger8684 6 днів тому

    Interesting take, but not sure I agree with much of it. I'll explain. When next season starts CC and AB will be 23, Smith will be 24 and Lexie will be 25. That is a nice young core. If my goal is to win championships with an S on the end, I'm not going to start bringing in old players. Many teams do that, but when the core gets old the jig us up. The run is over and it is rebuild time. What if the Fever kept the same team together and made no moves (OK Temi is gone so can't really be done, but even so) the team would be better next year because the youngsters are growing up, and they likely have better coaching. That means in order to stay ahead of the Fever the three teams ahead of them have to get better, not just maintain. I would say if they make no moves they are contenders next year. Now what about Smith? If the off court crap can be eliminated she is too valuable to get rid of. If it doesn't look like it can, she has to go. With new team leadership they have to figure that out. And soon. So what about Sabally? At 26 (I think), would love to have her. But they simply can't give what you suggest they give for her, it is way too much for a 1 year player. If they could get her for 3 or 4 years guaranteed then you may be close. But the CBA is over after this year. It will be a strange year for free agents because most likely they will all be 1 year deals. That makes all free agents much less valuable. This is a big deal that I don't think most are thinking about. Then there will be another expansion draft. Truth is this is probably not the year to go nuts. First thing is I would keep this years draft pick, it looks like it will be a deep enough draft that you want this pick. The team need to keep bringing in youth. If we think Smith can behave keep her too. If it doesn't work out they can leave her unprotected next year. What would I give for Sabally? Well in a way she is tainted much like many think Smith is. If Dallas doesn't trade her now they likely lose her for nothing next year. So that lowers the price. So a first in 2026 and 2027 may well get the job done, or Smith and 1 first, but not this years pick, it is not on the table. But overall my thought is if the Fever can improve with little future cost they should, and they could possibly win a championship. But with the CBA and expansions draft ahead major moves need to wait till next year. But don't sell out now to win before the core is really ready. What is scary is Amber Cox talking about adding senior leadership and that is scary. The concept is total BS. They already have a team leader, don't muddy those waters. The one thing the Fever have that no one else has is that are now and will solidly become America's team. There will be more endorsement opportunities for any player that is on that team than on any other team. One last thing, I would get Kate Martin. The synergy would be so dynamic.

    • @WNBAnow
      @WNBAnow 2 дні тому

      Appreciate the insights! A lot to unpack but I'll start with if Indy makes no moves, they are certainly not real threats for anything next season. New York is an absolute juggernaut, Minnesota is only going to improve and the Aces will certainly be back. We can simply agree to disagree on that point. Next point is Sabally. She has never been cored so the Wings can slap that baby on her for 2 years, which is why the price tag is higher in year 1. She can't just leave for nothing next year, as a matter of fact. Last point is I disagree with the draft analysis. Many people are thinking this class is as deep or deeper than last year and I don't think it's in the same galaxy as 24. Obviously time will tell, and if they do go the conservative approach, I wouldn't have an issue with it, but the thesis was how do they legitimately compete in 2025, and I think Sabally is move. Id also like to add that when all these young Indy players contracts are up, someone is getting left out in the cold. Can't be paying Clark the max, Mitchell the max and Boston the max and expect players like Hull and Smith to play for team friendly deals when plenty of teams will be in the market. Obviously, this is dependant on new CBA particulars, but, if I have Clark, I'm always trying to build today rather than waiting for tomorrow

    Fever have to compete with New York for Satou. So Satou may not agree to take less money from Fever if New York offers more.

    Started loving/following the team last year and all of the personalities/talent. So imagine my surprise to know they essentially had the same makeup the year before to win a championship. I understand the failing of an aging formula and the league getting more competitive, but, and this may need to be explained to me, why isn't the factor of having pretty much their whole starting lineup possibly strained due to olympic participation not considered at all as to why the team might have struggled? All of this talk about breaking up the "core 4" just doesn't sit right with me. I am such a huge fan of last season's roster and feel they are such a formidable force. I am genuinely confused that they're being dismissed like this.

    Aren't you concerned about Satou injury issues? She has only played more than 17 games 1 time in 5 years. I do want to move Smith...but the cost is awfully high when Sabally has issues staying healthy.

    • @WNBAnow
      @WNBAnow 9 днів тому

      I'm personally not concerned in the least. The year she did play, she was All WNBA. Last year, she came back fully healthy and there is no reason to think this isn't the player you're getting. If you follow my work, you'll see that I generally tend to think in terms of biggest upside rather than a more conservative approach (not saying either is right or wrong) I think when you have Caitlin Clark, every year should be an opportunity to compete and by going a conventional route, that won't be the case in 2025

    • @donnamoore2832
      @donnamoore2832 9 днів тому

      @WNBAnow I'm not saying she is not gifted. When healthy, she is amazing. I am looking at historical data. Played 44 games in her first 3 years with Dallas. In 2023, she played in 38 games, then dropped back down to 15 in 2024 after the shoulder surgery she had. In 2021, she missed a lot of games after the all star break due to Achilles soreness, if I remember correctly. In the latter part of 2022, she missed time for knee and ankle issues. In 5 years, she has played in 97 games. For me, she has to prove she can remain healthy as she has struggled to do that in the past.

    • @WNBAnow
      @WNBAnow 10 днів тому

      It's been widely speculated she wants out, so the thinking is, instead of her leaving for nothing, they can potentially move her and add something to the new Paige era. It's definitely possible she goes nowhere this year, as Dallas can core her 2x

      I love TJ! Really hope she gets a run to go somewhere! I don't mind the MHA pickup either, but they'd have to eat the Bell contract, so I'm not sure how the math goes. Also, Plum would have to take a pay cut to sign a one-year deal and not use up a core des year. I like your squad, tho, although Clark can't start imo. She will be most effective at the 15-20 off the bench roll

  • @senseigenius
    @senseigenius 11 днів тому

    They need to address the need for a true point guard to back up Chelsea Gray. Prior to her injury, she was responsible for so much of their offense. The point guard by committee strategy doesn't really work that well in the WNBA. They need someone to facilitate their offense or else they will struggle. UNLESS, A'Ja Wilson develops a passing game. In that case, she will be the second coming of Candace Parker/Lisa Leslie and they will be virtually unbeatable because of all the attention that she draws when she has the ball.

    that an interesting setup but honestly that kelsey, natalie & becky chess move makes sense lol....those sneaky coaches lol ....my only concern is who going to be their small guards...because as nice as it is to go big they still need small guards for quick high offensive players in chenn, kelsey plum, arike and kelsey mitchell....i also think the aces (though i hope the sky does something to interrupt this) picks raven johnson small guard that can defend and s. prince (an adequate center) with their second round draft picks....though becky likes veterans ...so ur idea works better (not that i am going to complain since that puts the sky in position to get raven johnson)

    I think that if the aces want another backup for Aja then they should look for a big that can shoot. And I found one! Ashten prechtel 6’5 and long can shoot the 3 and block shots has gotten a lot better overseas. If you look at her college stats you won’t be impressed (she didn’t get a chance at Stanford) but just look at her stats overseas she’s dominating and would spread the floor to let the guards drive/kick. Definitely take a look at her and give me your opinion!

    lmao…giving up 2 future first round picks, and 2 previous first rounders still under 25-ish for what might be nothing more than a one year rental of a player who still has fishy injury history, is madness and borderline irresponsible. No competent org is doing that and putting all their eggs in one Sabally basket.

    • @WNBAnow
      @WNBAnow 11 днів тому

      You make it seem as if the entire city of Indianapolis wasn't praying Smith to be taken by Golden State or that she will fetch any type of '1st round' value or that she won't leave next year for nothing. As for GB, also, she would be worth, at ABSOLUTE best, a 2nd rounder on the open market. You're trading the 8th pick this year, and presumably, if the team continues to evolve and get better, a late 1st rounder in 27. You're not trading lotto picks here. And, the idea that Sabally is some kind of question mark is hilariously misguided. She was an All W 1st team performer in 23 and is lightyears more valuable than any other player not named Caitlin Clark. Also, bc of the rules, she has to agree to any trade destinations. If she gives the green light to come this year, you would obviously have discussions and get assurances she wants to play with Clark long term. Regardless, the question being answered of 'what will it take for them to be contenders' was answered. If you think drafting and devolving Sonia Citron will get them to the finals, I got some pretty bad news for ya

    • @AsoOrad
      @AsoOrad 11 днів тому

      I don’t really care about whatever happens with Nalyssa, nor do I have any idea who the best draft options would be as I barely watch any college ball. My point was simple and straightforward; all that for Satou is ridiculous and no competent org is pulling that. That’s a Paul George to Clippers-type trade for, again, a possible one-year rental.
