Hell yeah! Thanks for the feature. I'm glad you like em :)
The Thunder Warriors were the first army that really sparked my imagination when I heard about them in the lore. The Unification Wars is a fascinating era of 40k prehistory with just enough snippets of information to spark the imagination. It's a post-apocalyptic Earth full of wild chaos sorcery and techno-barbarism. Tempest Legion/Thunder Warriors are the genetically and psychologically unstable precursors to the Astartes.
I've long wanted to do armies for the Emperor's campaign against Old Alba / Albion, and thanks to 3d printing I now have the perfect STLs for both. Several creators have done takes on the Thunder Warriors, though Makers' Cult is the most complete and original re-imagining.
I'm definitely a huge fan of non-clone proxies. The first time I tried reading Eisenhorn, I was put off as the book described a battle between an imperial navy landing force and the household troops of a chaos-corrupted noble house. Something the 40k game didn't support eithers as rules or miniatures. Now I know creators with stls perfect for both sides and could easily stat them up for OPR's Grimdark Future. Instead of only being able to play the bits of the 40k setting that Geedubs decides are profitable enough to support, the whole universe of possibilities has been opened up to us as never before.
The reason there's no thunder warriors army is because they were all killed prior to the great crusade. They are quite literally extinct.
I mean, in a universe where crawl had a few chapters of super space marines in his garage, I am willing to just go with it.
@@Brian-us2xz Also Trazyn the Infinite's collection..
@ulthrant82 ahh yes, that guy, my assumption that some of that collection would just propped up pictures with a blood raven iou note attached.
@@ulthrant82yeah his collection is a bit secure to say the least. Plus he has a few of each solider at most usually, not entirely armies.
@@dennisflanders1957missed the joke.....
Multi use armies are great for disabled gamers - carrying one box with different options means that the idea of a tournament or even just going to a club game is less daunting.
I used to be able to pull over 200kg across rough ground for my job, then I got bowel cancer, and it's associated surgeries have left me with nearly no core strength and limited mobility - a dual purpose army is a great idea.
As are models where you can replace different parts for WYSIWYG games
I am making a thunder warriors army out of those exact models! I highly recommend using the older tempest legion mk2 shoulders on the mk3 sculpts, it fills them out and makes them look a bit chunkier and ancient
Fun fact: The Thunder Warriors were not fully wiped out. Stragglers survived. In the book "The Outcast Dead" we can find a Thunder Warrior who started a hive gang. He uses gang funds to create a gene lab, where he makes more Thunder Warriors and extends his own cancer riddled lifespan. He steals some geneseed at one point, so he can turn himself into a Space Marine and live longer. He even escapes Terra before the Siege of Terra with the help of Traitor Space Marines. Implying he never died and could've survived. Chaos Thunder Warriors when?
im sure there was a story about a planet with a rebellion on as well, where the emperor sent in his warhounds (pre finding angron) to slaughter them... but they in turn was slaughtered by large warriors that was even more ferosious then the warhounds
Maybe try making Chaos Dwarfs next?
I just printed an Alpha Legion proxy army. They look so much better and are more unique than GWs standard chaos space marines.
I love the GW Chaos Marine sculpts, but they don't fit that well for Alpha Legion
Brother Sam. How do you know the points and power level of the units that you 3D print?
You should play using the models. I'd totally watch that.
What curing lamp do you use?
Minitours are more of a bronze but you could get away with gold, the Celestial Lions are pretty much all black apart from some blue on the shoulder pads so that would work too.
there is like 3 gold chapters I can remember rn, minotaurs, celestial lions and golden griffons
Heraldry says Yellow is the same as Gold, so Imperial Fists as well.
I love the idea that the secret to the creation of Thunder Warriors is still out there, and they’re still being made by some ancient arm of the Inquisition or some Rouge Trader enclave.
Hey Sam, what band are you using on your resin tank? I assume it’s a heating band. I’m curious what you’re using. I ended up getting a small space heater but something that wraps would be better
Minotaur's are gold for marines
Wait I have official gw models of these what😂
The rouge trader ones ?
@@nickdavis5420 no the thunder warriors
I could be misremembering, but aren't thunder warriors supposed to be much bigger than Space Marines?
By a little bit yeah. But really they're just Space Marines on a 40mm base instead of 32. So it's more like every Thunder Warrior is Captain sized.
Somewhere between Primaris and Custodes, according to most sources I've seen.
Hey BBS, what kind of oil wash (brand) do you use?
what printer did you use?
Grate video brother wonderful army
The Thunder warriors were seen as a threat by the Emperor and eradicated
These look amazing! Wish they'd drop some new valhallans, or some proxies, had a hard time finding some that hit the same.
well the space marine chapter you are looking for is Golden Gryphons
The lore works 10000% better when rogue traders are all 10k year old Thunder Warrior veterans juiced to the gills with xeno and heretek along with their original DAoT gear and ships. Makes a lot of sense then why Inquisitors et al are like... "Yeah, I'm gonna let this guy slide..."
Very cool sadly I’m gonna get a fdm printer first but I have a friend with resin .
Ha Yes I love my Thunder Boiz from them. So glad I have been using them since 2020!! so damn cool.
Amazing and I’m going copy also Gw have a marine army that’s gold called Minotaurs
Looks very nice. Could also sub as Iron hands. The flesh is weak.
Why did I knew from the title alone he meant the thunder warriors 😅
I thought this was going to be about pygmies in WFB.
Minitours re pretty much goldish. In the 90's I used to make Custodes from ELDAR and SM kitbash. made like 1000 points before 4th. Then came the Custodes by GW
Im telling You for.....dont remember how meany time....;) go to the teritory of historical games, fantasy.... :) got few armies in 10mm, 15mm for flames of war and battlegroup, 28mm for bolt action, and wayyyy more!!! Ooo and The Old World is comming, so now im 3d printing orcs :)
Oh no, why wouldn't JamesWorkshop let us play Bretonia as medieval France in WH40k? 🙃
a great idea well done, could you also use them as a guard regiment or are they space marine size
Three weeks and no new Video 🤔 GW striked again? Hope not
their frackin dead dude! did you even do your research? cmon man your videos are great but come ON thats like... the main point of the thunder warriors?? they die so marines are born. cmon
id pay real money for a "Men of Iron" army
