  • You Swedes are like Robin Hood, you take from the rich and give to the poor, especially good social services for the poor. Dead Wrong®. The way these services are funded hides a dirty little secret. Find out what it is from Free To Choose® Media Executive Editor and Cato Institute Senior Fellow Johan Norberg.

"Sure, it is unfair, but we have no better solution" - Swedish Finance Minister.
This is incredibly enlightened. Not so much the Finance minister understanding the obvious, but that he can openly state it as part of the political process.

It sounds as if you were calling poor everyone who is not rich. Isn't it more accurate to say that the responsability of mantaining the state is equitably divided among swedes?

Value added taxes (VAT) consume a larger percentage of your income the poorer you are.

Stop the nonsense disparaging term "regressive taxes" when that term actually means "fair taxes." A flat fee per head is the most egalitarian tax, one that treats each person's tax obligation the same as it gives in terms of voting. A flat RATE already means those with more will pay more, something that seems fair even if we don't allow votes to be tallied this way. So-called "progressive" tax rates simply deny equal protection, create the complex tax code that nobody knows, and perversely gives advantages to the rich and donor class who then corrupt politicians, making us all worse off for denying liberty and equal protection.

I don't know about dead wrong, but the figures you quote are highly misleading. The top 10% in US pay higher proportion of income taxes because income inequality is far greater in US compare to Sweden and they take in a higher proportion of total incomes. In 2014, US top 10% earned 47% of the total incomes, Sweden top 10% earned 28%.

Sweden is divided into right-wing nutcases and radical left-wing hippies. This political polarization has made it difficult for marginalized communities to have their voices heard and for real solutions to be implemented. Immigrants can't become rich and successful in Sweden because their economic system is designed to benefit the already wealthy. It's very hard for immigrants and Swedes from low socioeconomic backgrounds to live their American dream. Sweden has for a long time been ruled by conservative and communist parties that come up with bad economic policies since they fail to address the needs of the working class and poor. This has resulted in a widening income gap and limited opportunities for social mobility, making it difficult for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve their desired level of success. . Politicians don't care about making the country great because they benefit from inequalities. Sweden can never become like China and America. Sadly the fascists in Sweden destroy their economy, and the Swedish people lack the courage to make a revolution. The Swedish government provided Swedish people with free stuff, and it made their dependency culture" worse, leading to a lack of motivation and innovation among the population. Unlike the Japanese the Swedes lack the drive to work hard and improve their economic situation, resulting in a stagnant economy and a population that is content with mediocrity. If Swedish people don't change their shitty system they will be doomed unless they government takes action to incentivize entrepreneurship and innovation, and instill a culture of hard work and ambition among the population. Without these changes, Sweden may struggle to compete in the global economy and maintain its standard of living.
