    MY ELEMENTS HAS CHOKED ON MAC! I have PS elements 2020. I can no longer upload TIFF files. Adobe Help has told me the latest IOS version Monterey 12.0.1 is not compatible with PSE. This includes PSE 2022. Specs are only macOS 10.15 or macOS 11. They suggested I downgrade to previous IOS version as they have not got around to testing with Monterey. They may find a fix for 2022 but no promises a fix coming for 2020. They suggested I download PSE 2022 trial - Also didn't work. My parting comment to Adobe help was that I have owned PSE 2020 for only 1 year and already redundant. As apple often upgrade their operating system PSE 2022 will soon be incompatible with the next newer version of IOS. WTF. This is amazingly slack from such a big company. They have not even bothered to test with the latest IOS AND they have produced such an unstable package with zero support.BE WARNED!

    Another great informative video, George, thank you. Some time ago you expressed the opinion that it looks like Adobe is pretty much through upgrading this product for photographers and is more focusing on cute social media projects instead. This video reinforces that opinion. While the warp feature may be very useful for graphic artists, the artistic transformations, while quick and easy can be done in a more useful way with a program like Dynamic Auto Paint. The rest is fluff as far as I can see. Thanks for providing a basis for users to decide if it is worth the upgrade.

      Thanks! and I agree. This update is useful for people who want to do creative stuff like I do in Photoshop Elements but it is a worthless update for people who are doing primarily photography projects.

    Hello George!!! Thank you for spending the time to really cut through the reality of this upgrade. The enhanced warp tool is enough for me to upgrade (Plus the discount Adobe gives you to upgrade...LOL!) I also really like the animated effect as well as the art looks. I feel the pressure is coming in on Adobe to compete with some of the AI programs out there. It is long over due on the warp tool but will so useful I will certainly take it! One question, it seems like on every update they make claims to enhance their "Slide show function". I don't know if it was PS elements or Premiere elements who make the claim. Have you checked out this feature for any improvements???
    Thank you for all you do!
    Rich

      Hi Rich, they added 5 new templates to the Slideshow but they haven't added back any functionality. The old slideshow from PSE 10 was great, but there hasn't been a good slideshow app since then. I will be doing a video at some point on how to make a slideshow in Premiere Elements, that is the way to go now as it gives you complete creative freedom.

    Hi George,
    I just upgraded and downloaded Photoshop Elements 2022 after owning the 2018 version on my old computer. I bought a new computer several months with a Nvidia Geforce RTX graphics processor. Is there a way to change the GPU in Preferences? When I look in the Performance tab it indicates the detected graphics processor is an Intel (R) UHD Graphics Processor, but my computer is using a Nvidia Geforce RTX Graphics Processor. My old computer with Photoshop Elements 2018 was using the Intel Graphics Processor. I'm not sure why it's recognizing the old graphics processor instead of the Nvidia graphics processor. Any idea on how I can change that in Preferences so it will recognize the Nvidia Graphics Processor?
    Roger

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  2 роки тому

      Hi Roger, I don't know of any way to force Photoshop Elements to use a particular graphics processor. Keep in mind that PSE isn't a performance program and it may not recognize higher end cards, or it may use them but list a more generic card. Adobe Photoshop is different, it will recognize the latest cards since it is a performance based program.

    • @puddy007
      @puddy007 2 роки тому

      @@HTGGeorge Thank you for your reply, George. That makes sense. I didn't think about PSE not being a performance based program. I upgraded to a new computer because I use ON1 Photo Raw as my photo editor and my old computer was running slow using a lower end graphics card.
      I enjoy your PSE tutorials as I've been a subscriber for many years and have learned a lot from watching your tutorials. One of my favorite things to do in PSE is using the Out of Bounds Guided Edit to make a 3D effect from my images. I've gotten pretty good at making some unique 3D effects. I've heard you mention frequently that a lot of the guided edits can be made easier and better in expert mode. Would this apply to the Out of Bounds feature and if so would you be able to produce a tutorial demonstrating how it could be done in expert mode?

      I may have a suggestion for a future tutorial after looking back at some of my past special effects images that I created. There was a video I remember watching several years ago which showed how to make a mirror box effect in Photoshop. I was able to produce the same effect using Photoshop Elements. I thought you might be able to expand on that technique and perhaps add some of your own insight and tips for improving on the final effects of creating this mirror box effect using Photoshop Elements. The finished product really produces a pretty cool effect when used with the proper image. Here's the video tutorial link for that ua-cam.com/video/yTDQ6EsmT_s/v-deo.html

    Thanks so much for this review. I'm still using Elements 14 and have Lightroom for most of my photography corrections. I'm always a bit reluctant to jump on an update because I fear them removing something useful to give 'fluff' stuff I will never use. Apparently it's time to upgrade...I see 2022 seems to be download only. I like keeping hardcopies (like a USB if not disks) of programs just in case. Can you save the software to a USB in order to reinstall if necessary?? (ie, in case an internet connection is NOT available but you need to reload it.)

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  2 роки тому

      You can save the downloaded file anywhere you want. I put a copy onto my backup drive. Then it is easy to reinstall in the future if you want. The downloader installer file is actually quite small, what it does is to go online and download all the files from Adobe during installation. So to reinstall you will need an active internet connection, and of course you will also need your license key so make sure you put that into a file and keep it with the program download file.

    I think I may have to upgrade because of the problems I'm having with the current version. I cannot reset the settings in the Hue/Saturation layer adjustment, unless I double click on the eye icon. Much more irritating though is that after making a selection then very likely when creating a Layer via Copy the selection is not there. This also happens when I do the Cntl/Alt/Shift & E shortcut. I re-installed the program but it did not solve the problem. So, I have to save the document then close PSE and re-open it. It then works OK - for a while! Have you ever had such a problem, George?

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  2 роки тому

      Hi Peter, sorry but I haven't come across those errors. The first thing I would try is when the program is launching hold down ctrl+shift+alt to bring up the reset dialog box. Use that to reset the program back to its default settings. Often that will fix odd problems. Aside from that it may be a version issue, if you are using PSE 15 it was a bit glitchy. Also one of the things that Adobe does each year in their updates is to stay current with Windows updates, so if you get too far out of date there could be compatibility issues showing up.

    Does it make sense to upgrade from 2020 version to 2022?

      Only if you like the new features. For me the Image Warp is worth the upgrade, but you may not need that. So take a look at the new features and use that to decide. Here is my video for new features in 2021 ua-cam.com/video/JvAZZdK0zEg/v-deo.html

    Where is 16-bit editing?

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  2 роки тому +1

      Photoshop Elements only edits in 16 bit in the Camera Raw window. The rest of PSE edits in 8 bit. You can find the 16 bit setting at the bottom middle of the Camera Raw window. If you really need 16 bit I would recommend moving to a different program. Adobe Photoshop is the obvious choice, but for a whole lot less money Affinity Photo is a great option.

      Forgot to mention, you also can save to different bit depths with some image times at the Save dialog box, for instance BMP can save to 16 and 24 bit

      @@HTGGeorge I'll check that out. Adobe should have stepped up to 16-bit editing of raw files

      @@ormonde2007 The problem is that Adobe doesn't consider PSE as an advanced program, they have Adobe Photoshop for that. They consider PSE as being for amateurs and light hobbiests. They expect anyone who reallly wants to handle high quality photo editing will be using Adobe Photoshop.
