I really like what you did with this image. When I first saw it, I didn't think it needed any improvement, but the 'glow' in the center, and selective sharpening really made it great. Thanks. I'm still learning all the magical things you can do with layer masks.
Thanks. That's the great part about editing, someone else would take the image and do something completely different. My own approach is usually to find the parts of the image I don't like and remove or reduce them. Then find the parts I do like and slightly emphasise them. Thanks for watching. 😊
Hi Robert, As a photo / graphics creator hobbyist & Elements user, I truly enjoyed a Pro perspective on PSE. I take great interest in seeing the technics you used to achieve desired effects. I will keep an eye on your channel for further tutorials using Elements. Your calm & thorough approach to teaching appeals to me. Thanks.
Once again very informative video Robert, Elements is cheap for starting out and I used it myself but for me I will stick to Photoshop and Lightroom with everything at my finger tips. Thank you for guide and insight into Elements. 🐕👌
Cheers John. Yeah, if you have the regular version of Photoshop and Lightroom, no need for elements. I would definitely recommend elements to anyone not wanting to pay the monthly subscription though. Thanks for watching. 😊
Thanks for showing your process here. I am having to learn PSE for a course I’m doing and, coming from LR, have found it a bit limiting, but you have opened up new perspectives, thank you ❤🙏 Looking forward to more content like this 😊
Seems like a great program for beginners or hobbyists who don't need to pay for the yearly subscription. Or for those who are new to editing. Great image Robert, really liked that one! And you were still able to give it a nice edit despite not having all the tools you would normally use. Great tutorial pal, very informative. Hope you are doing well, have a great week!
Yeah, exactly Paul. Really good introduction to the software, and surprisingly feature rich when you start to dig a bit deeper. All good here mate, hope you are too. Has it stopped snowing yet?! 😁
Very helpful, thanks! I use PSE2021 frequently (a hobbyist not professional) and didn't know about some of these tools. Would love to see more demonstrations with PSE. I've actually put together some fairly complicated images using layer masks, etc. but it takes a while. Thankfully I'm retired. LOL.
Hi Robert, Thanks for the video. As a rusted on "Luddite" been using Photoshop Elements for a few years simply because the complexity of its big cousin eludes me! What continues to elude me is the concept of layers; and the integration with layers of the editing techniques, some of which you demonstrated today as emulations of what's more readily and easily possible in, say, LIghtroom through sliders. I pretty much do all my colour, tone, and white balance editing in the Camera Raw editor, and generally get good results, but still wish it had more functions like Lightroom to be able to add even more fine tuning to my images. Wouldn't mind a basic "class" in the use of layers and how to integrate with other editing techniques in the Expert mode of Photoshop Elements. Cheers, Frederick Jansohn
Camera RAW and Elements was my first software for post processing back in the day Robert prior to moving across to LR and PS. Great video for beginners and well explained as always 👍🏻
@@Robert-Bishop it served me well for a long time and PS definitely more feature rich altho I probably don’t use it to its full extent as I do the majority of processing in LR to be honest
This is really useful, Robert, thank you. Elements 2025 is probably imminent (I am writing mid September 2025) and I'd be grateful if you would consider reviewing the new version when available
Thanks - yeah, I'll take a look, hopefully it has some useful be features for photographers. Will be interested to see if it includes some of Adobe's newer AI tools.
@@Robert-Bishop Thanks, Robert. At present I am developing Raw files in DXO Pureraw 4 and exporting to the latest version of Apple Photos, which is actually fine for global edit changes. However, I do miss not having dodge and burn and HDR functionality, so I' be grateful for your views on the quality of these in Elements.
Hello Where did you just get that raw file from at the bottom of the page? That looked so easy compared to what I have had to do? Okay, I just watched more of your video and this is amazing!! Thank you for educating me about Camera Raw.
Great, really glad you found it useful! I had a folder window just off screen with the raw file in it, and just dragged the file from the folder into Elements. You can do the same as long as you're able to see your folder and Elements at the same time (so don't have it set to full screen). Thanks for watching. 😊
Hi, I just bought Photoshop Elements 2024 and most of the dropdowns are in gray. And when I bring up Guided, there is no elive or photomerge. Do I need to do something to bring all this up? Or am I forced into buying the upgrade 2024 as well?
I have just entered into a trial period of photoshop elements where I find the usual anomaly that Adobe products seem to follow???!!……ANYTHING BUT SIMPLE???!!!…… I say this as a former photoshop/lightroom photography plan user who came off the subscription model, having tested elements b4 a while ago?!!!… . Now this 2024 version appears to require a new laptop to enable access of camera raw features???!!

What’s a “roar” image?
RAW is a digital image format. 😊
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raw_image_format
@@Robert-Bishop There is no “r” at the end of “raw.” 😊 Why do you pronounce it “roar?”
I guess that's my accent. 🤷🏼♂️
@@Robert-Bishop I’m learning English. It’s good to know.
