My favourite part of the Library House is the way it reminds me of my grandparents’ shophouse in Malaysia. The video transported me back to more than a decade and a half ago where we’d use to gather at my grandparents’ during the new year. It’s lovely that the important elements are kept intact, with updates made to balance an elevated, more relevant design for the Library House’s current function. Thanks for the tour-it’s mesmerising through your lens so I can only imagine how awesome it’d be to actually get to stay in the Library House and experience this ourselves!
I like the abundant use of timber furnishings and fixtures in the Library House, as it gives this warm and peaceful feel. A close second is the atrium and the abundance of natural light!
I love how the contrast of the Library House. It looks so unassuming on the outside but yet, it is so tastefully done on the inside. And just like all libraries it always looks unassuming on the outside yet house the treasures within.
Absoultely loved the atrium in the centre of the house. Brings in natural light, ventilation and a touch of nature which complements the dark wooden interior of the house really well
Absolutely adore the beautiful wooden element in the Library House, from the rafters and windows to the furnitures, while the granite floor blends in seamlessly, giving off zen vibes.
Loving how big those rooms are, well designed studio with all the necessities without having to leave the room and the gem of this Figment unit is the 30 year old bonsai tree and water feature.
Future generations would thank you for breathing a fresh lease of excitement into these icons of our heritage, while respecting its historical, cultural and social significance. How else would we relate to the past if it’s not given a tinge of the present and a hint of the future to come? That’s what I like best about your projects, they represent a labour of love that is part preservation, part restoration and a whole lot of education. It would be a privilege to explore, experience and express my excitement towards this gem of the nation that you have marvelled forth for us. And for that humbling opportunity, I thank you.
I myself grew up and spent my younger years living in a shophouse so this definitely brings back some memories albeit it looking a little more eclectic than my old home. What I loved about the Library House was all the little pockets of space that you can go to work, read a book or just chill. I also liked how Figment had manage to preserve most of the details of what makes these shophouses unique.
What a fantastic walkthrough. Apart from Reuben's always professional and enjoyable presentation style, may I commend the edit on this upload for leaving in the sounds of the birdlife calling in the background. It compliments the friendly vibe enormously. I imagine Haruki Murakami would be very pleased to have this eclectic space named in his honour.
I like the common area right after we entered Library house, it’s quiet, neat and tidy with touch of art around, contrasting with busy Orchard outside. One more thing I like about Library house is the atrium in the center of the house, greenery plus water sound, great place for reading and working. Thanks for sharing.
Love the creativity of naming each room but the feature that takes the cake is the air well with the fountain and bonsai tree. It gives this calming vibe and produce an ideal place for a retreat even if its for a day
I always loved the whole stretch along emerald hill, a quieter orchard section tucked away in a quaint street. The shophouse exterior gives it a really nice, local nostalgic 1900s feel. The library house space is very well-planned given it has a long, well-lit communal area while the rooms, especially the murukami room that has its own quaint privacy yet the decor gives it a very home-y feel! Love any home with wooden stairs 😍😍 and it was nice to watch such an interesting tour!
Having a mini studio room in a co living space is just so cool! You get private stairs leading up to your room as well, reminds me of those intimate extended family living units you find in China. Superb architecture.
Finally getting to see what’s behind those doors and it’s absolutely charming! Those cozy wooden tones yet airy and sunlit space 😌 100% relaxation aw thanks for this video!
my childhood years were spent in a shophouse; not the heritage-looking or art deco-styled ones shown in the video, but one closer to a modern shophouse in the infographic. On the ground level, it sat a stationery shop, and the second level was where my family and I lived in. It’s a longggg time ago but I vividly remember the really generous stationery shop uncle would offer free Pilot pens to my siblings and I, and my mom would thank him with home-cooked food. Looking back now over a decade, it was a really simple yet heartwarming time back then, and the neighbourly spirit is one that we don’t see often anymore sadly. Watching this video brings back so much fond memories, and I really love how Figment brings new perspectives to shophouses as well; showing how culture and modernity could co-exist in such harmony 🥺❤️ Fav spot would hands down be the cozy corner with the beanbag overlooking the 30year old bonsai tree!!!! I hope that one day I’ll be able to reclaim that childhood shophouse (that was once lived in by my maternal grandparents before my parents bought it over), refurbish it, and live in it for years to come. For now, I’ll just be satisfied watching video tours of revamped shophouses 🤣
Wow! Yes the Figment founder also grew up around shophouses, so doing this is really natural for him 😀 Thanks for sharing your childhood experiences, it's really heartwarming to read them 👌
@@StackedHomes ahhh it’s a full circle!!! it’s a pleasure to know that ☺️ it’s awesome what Figment is doing! thanks you guys, and especially the host Reuben who’s so great in sharing all the tidbits of info about shophouses; there’s not a dull moment at all in this video :”)
Enjoyed the trip down memory lane and how figment has transformed the place into such a calm oasis whilst still respecting the history of the building!
Enjoyed your video, never knew some of the details you provided, thanks for the effort. Like the warmth feeling this house brings. Whenever I do see Ronald, I will sit beside him for a while.☺️
Lovely tour! My favourite part is the atrium and the sound of running water, and the attention to detail, with the 30 year old bonsai. Definitely adds to the relaxing vibes of the home!
Love the way Rueben interpreted and presented his ideas. Linguistically adequate and everything falls into place. Hopefully more Malaysians can learned and acquaint with his style of delivery. I'm a Malaysian, though.
I love everything about the library house! From the history and architecture to its gorgeous interior design giving it that very homely rustic vibe, feels modern yet nostalgic at the same time! Can we just talk about the size of the place!? WOW! Figment is doing amazing rejuvenating these shophouses, breathing new life into them. Gorgeously done up homes and an absolute dream to live in, must be wonderful if you're a tourist here with a few friends, because this would be perfect!
Love how the Library House combines modern with tradition so seamlessly, without looking outdated or cold. Love how cosy it feels and the courtyard with the windows and natural light really elevates the space! Thanks for hosting this giveaway, have been watching Stacked videos and following Figment on Instagram for a while now and am rly glad for this collaboration!
That feeling when nostalgia hits. My favourite part of the shophouse is how it makes me feel. My mind is just bursting with childhood memories with every single turn of the camera. But maybe best of all is the fact that we can enjoy that sense of nostalgia, while at the same time appreciate the pleasures and perks of modern living with all the amenities installed. Great tour guys!
I love the vintage vibes, not just the shop house but the surroundings and the rich history. Wooden beams are my favourite feature in any home, I wished I could install wooden beams on my HDB ceiling, but I know it's near impossible.
Love all of the small details in this shophouse, especially the 30-year old Bonsai Tree and there is a small reading corner facing it. Would love to chill there with a good read! :)
Another great video Reuben. I love that even the bonsai tree that they chose to put in the courtyard is itself aged and with some history. Everything in this wonderful building has history and substance - from the tiles to the doors.
Was introduced to the bars along emerald hills during my polytechnic days. We were always peeking into the shophouses. The atrium area is so zen together with the bonsai tree. Thanks for featuring the shophouses... a great video and will be saving it up for decor references :)
Thanks for doing this giveaway! What a lovely, spacious shophouse 🤩 Really like the atrium which provides a cosy nook to chill and just enjoy the natural light and admire the greenery/bonsai. Great for ventilation too! All in all, this shophouse just feels like home, and I think that’s the most important thing no matter where we travel to 😌
What I really admire about the Library House is the attention to detail! The wooden beams on the ceiling used to match the timber panels to the retention of the Peranakan details retain this shophouse’s rich history while contrasted with modern touches, such as the monochromatic grey wall and granite floor! I love how these tastefully co-exist with the warmness of the timber staircase, for eg, while also giving an interesting layer of texture. I think these subtle touches are what really bring out the Library House's eclectic style, yet maintaining its historical integrity...kind of like a mirror to its external surroundings in how the shophouses interact with our modern cityscape! It'll be really surreal to get to experience this unique house in person!
Absolutely loved the quaint, "home away from home" feel of the Emerald Hill. The Library House is an unadulterated gem. From the dark wooden interior, to how little Peranakan touches were incorporated into the house, to the pretty Bonsai. What a treat it would be to have a little getaway 3D2N style with Figment. Transport me back into the 1920s! Thoroughly enjoyed the video, start to finish. The host, Reuben has voice like smooth, hot chocolate. Moreover, the way he effortlessly educated us on the bits of history of EH neighbourhood. We love to be schooled. Stacked Homes team, great job with the film shots and edits. I see some aerial footages. A* for effort. Please keep the videos coming! * A little update: I shared this video with my Ah Ma, and she said seeing the interiors of the shophouse, brought her back to her younger days when she stayed in a shophouse. She shared about how she and her many other siblings would compete over the use of the toilet. It was great hearing her reveal snippets of her past. Sacred grandma and grandchild bonding time.
I love the little nook in the Murakami room that overlooks the atrium (a wonderful place to hide, read and journal!), and how the whole house has been updated to reflect a modern feel of the space, while keeping its integrity to the heritage of the shophouse, in structure and sense. I also think it's wonderful the effort that went into crane-lifting an old bonsai plant into the middle of the home to add a dash of nature and zen to the home! I'd love to be able to experience the home in-person :)
It’s so amazing that these shophouses rich with heritage is nestled right in the heart of modern orchard road. And I think the Library House is a beautiful reflection of how tradition and modernity can blend so beautifully together - the modern classic interior colours/materials/decor, with the Peranakan windows and ventilation portal and not forgetting the 30yr old bonsai! Would love the opportunity to stay here, draw some interior inspiration for my future home!
Absolutely adore the eclectic mix between antique and modern-esque aesthetics, exemplified by the Murakami room featured - complete with that lovely cosy little nook! My wife and I look forward to your weekly house tours and insightful podcasts. Kudos to the team 😊
I love the sharing of the history of shophouses, it is very informative and interesting! The Library House is a well thought out and wonderfully designed co-living space. Where function and style co-exist perfectly!~
I’m really impressed with the interior design of the Library House. The tone, colors, furniture pieces really sets itself apart from any other shophouse accommodation! My favorite area would have to be the bonsai tree in the middle of the house. It gives off that rustic, away from home vibes (almost kind of Japanese modern contemporary feel). Really impressive! Would love to experience the Library House with my wife for our upcoming anniversary!
Thanks for featuring shophouses and enlightening us on the history especially on the transformation through the decades🏡. The most pleasant surprise in the Library House is the kitchenette in each studio! It’s such a cozy self-sustaining living space by itself.
Amidst all the chaos, concrete jungle and bustling city life, the Library House feels so much like an entirely different world of its own. Definitely an awesome place to relax and self-care!
I walk through this area from time to time and really appreciate all the details you pointed out in this video! Love what Figment have done with the Library House, putting the bonsai in was well worth it :)
Watching this episode I learned something new about shophouses and their different iteration...my paternal grandparents came from Indonesia and settled in Bussorah Street, No.37... I now can date that to the 1840s... It is said that we are a nation of immigrants, but when you move from one place to another in Nusantara, even across seas, I think that is hardly called emigrating. Indeed knowing that tells us how old our family history us and how rooted to this island we have been... Thanks.Great episode.
What a fantastic shophouse tour? Lovely, thanks for shooting this for us. I can imagine how much footage you guys have shot, esp there are so many perspectives in the clip, inside, outside, overhead, etc. I have more knowledge about SG shophouses. Very informative and educational.
Omg absolutely blown away by the beautiful interior of the Library House!! I love the mix of modern and traditional elements and I would love to be able to experience living in the shophouse!!
The exotic architecture of the space was a breath of fresh (old) air! it will be truly an experience to those used to the smaller, cramped houses that modern Singapore has today :)
What struck me the most (and I probably would enjoy the most) is the scene whereby the 30 year-old bonzai plant was introduced as a scenic spot exterior, where we could seek solace in while sipping on our coffee or reading a book on the interior on the high chair! It definitely brings some chill vibe that make me forget that I'm actually living within CBD. I love how the supposed bustling city is enmeshed with the nature and historical roots in this house. (Followed both on instagram!)
Amazing stuff - tastefully renovated in cohesion with the traditional architecture, textures, and materials. You introduced me to new housing options if/when I move to Singapore. Keep them coming!
I love how the house brings back wonderful memories of watching TV shows on channel 8 of old singapore during the colonial era (like Tofu street!) but also manages to stay modern and updated. The bonsai plant in the airwell is such a unique and important feature of the house - i can smell how fresh the air must smell! Hope that my partner and i would be able to get a chance to have staycation there!
Growing up with my parents at a tender in a shophouse, I could never forget peeking through the little windows towards the main street and people watching all day with them. The library house is such a modern and upscaled version of the traditional shophouse. It would be such a lovely one which my parents could can a chance to experience with their childhood memories.
People need to appreciate shophouses more and this video just does it. Thanks for making this video, i really loved seeing the history you shared behind Emerald Hill. The setting of the Murakami room got me the most because it gave me vibes from his book “Norwegian Wood” and also the 森 feels especially with the Bonsai Tree and the mixture of granite and timber. Excellent video!
The house was unexpectedly big! But despite that it looks really cosy as well. It's a place that I'd definitely want to stay at to explore and experience!
Thanks Reuben for the lovely walkthrough of the Figment shophouse with nice vintage exterior & tasteful interior cum decor. It's been my dream to live in a shophouse and hopefully own one someday. 🙏
I really like the interiors in Emerald Hill, reminds me of the Villas I stayed years ago in Bali, holiday and chill vibes. And especially one can really sit down and do some reading, shows that its a relaxed holiday! lol
Love how homely and peaceful the whole library house feels even when its in the middle of a busy part of the country and that we can still enjoy our privacy while living in a co-living space.
Always wanted to experience how it is like living in a shophouse in SG. Love this video as a sneak preview of how living in this space will be. The lighting throughout the house is really good, bright and airy interior design makes it nice and cozy and a wonderful place to come home to at the end of the day :)
Always wanted to explore shop houses and see how people lived and observe how different the designs are. Every house just seems so unique and beautifully designed. Thank you for bringing us this experience through your lens.
Ahh the Murukami room is such a dream with that cosy spot just by the window for me to just unwind and relax 😍😍 soooo sooo beautiful absolutely love the vibes and in awe of all that history behind these buildings 🤩
I love how you shared the history of these houses in such an informative and interesting manner. Plus these houses are so aesthetically pleasing, which was really surprising for me. I would definitely love to try staying in one someday.
Love the layout of the Murakami room! Hard to choose my favourite spot...it'd be the cosy kitchenette with the window by the side. Nothing like one's own space to cook and a view to enjoy while eating. Thanks for letting us view this shophouse!
Another great video from Stacked Homes and wow such a eye-opening shophouse tour! Genuinely surprised by the size of the Library House as I always thought the space would be rather small inside. The interior was beautifully designed and the touch of the bonsai tree, along with the water feature, really brings peace and tranquillity amidst the hustle and bustle just around the corner that is Orchard Road. My favourite corner of the room will definitely be the little nook in the Murakami room that overlooks the atrium. I could just imagine myself reading a book there or watching another video by Stacked Homes there, must be relaxing. Hope to stand a chance to win this giveaway, thank you!
I like how homey it feels and as mentioned in the video, it's hard to believe that it's right in the middle of the CBD area (especially next to Orchard Road as well!). The rich history and the Peranakan/Chinese designs are timeless (i love the tiles). Great video as always.
Never knew of how much history was packed within Central Singapore! And what a sight to see a shop house like that around the area as well! Can't believe I've lived here majority of my life and never knew of its existence. Love the contradicting exterior and interior feel of the Library House. Interior reminds me of a modern version of my family's ancestral home in Malaysia! Making me miss the trips back to our family home 🥰
I would have been sharing this video with or without the giveaway 😊 Thank you for bringing us for the shop house tour! I love the atrium with the bonsai plant & sound of running water! if i could visit i wouldn't be moving from that spot for a long time! love the timbre ceiling panels and the design of the common area.. the crate & barrel furniture! & the cutaway glass ventilation point :) Love how modern the place is, while still a living breathing place rich in history
Wow thanks for your kind words ms! The place is really wonderful. Feels so much quieter, calm and definitely more cooling due to the aircon on the inside 😂
Just gotta love the contrast of modern and old. Liked that the interior is so different from what you would expect before entering the place. Also, I share a love for the food by the new friend you made ;)
stack homes has some of the best linguistic expert. haha... this is so far my favourite type of houses!! i never dream of living in GCB or any landed properties. BUt i would dream to live in a antique home like this. I know this kind of homes come with alot history baggage...
Impressive work done on the shoot, it captures the feel and nostalgic element of the shophouse as well as Figment's cosy stylish decor that really entertains and make the occupants feel well taken care of. And I really love the stories behind the architectural history of shophouses and its origins. That is very educational and Im going to show my children, hopefully learn some history of our early settlements. Fantastic homework done right there by Stacked. Will really love to experience Figment's coliving and in fact, I have bookmarked this video for ideas when I next do my renovation design. Thanks for sharing this wonderful work!
As an artist, the dream really is to live in such a creativity inducing space. The energy, the hustle and the bustle of shophouses will definitely spur unique inspirations.
Ooh! I love shop houses! In fact I was just there yesterday for an afternoon walk. Admiring the shop houses at Emerald Hill 😊 and I took a selfie with Ronald McDonald too! 😅 I love the atrium with the 30yrs old Bonsai plant and the water feature in the Library House. Would love to sit there and enjoy the sound of the water 😊
Thank you, Reuben, for the educational and well-presented video! I see it as a really positive sign that there are increasingly more videos like yours shedding light on these shophouses which are an important part of Singaporean architecture. I also love how innovative businesses like Figment are serving as attractive use-cases for such shophouses and in turn preserving them in great condition! 😊 I really enjoyed browsing through the Figment website. Each unit looks so quaint and cosy! What I enjoyed most about the Library House has to be the thoughtful design details all over the house, where modern design choices were employed while paying homage to the heritage of the building. While perhaps not the most recognisable detail, I appreciated the tasteful design choice to cover the ventilation portal with transparent cutaway glass. Doing so allows the guests to appreciate its original necessary function of allowing air flow and in turn ensuring that the house does not get too stuffy in tropical Singapore. I also loved the thought and effort the Figment design team put into installing the bonsai plant (amazing to know that it was crane-lifted) into the atrium within the shophouse - It reminds me of the internal gardens in Kyo-Machiyas (Traditional Wooden Townhouses in Kyoto, Japan). I’m sure the guests appreciate the serene and relaxing environment it provides! As a Singaporean relocating overseas for work in a few months’ time, it would be really meaningful for me and my partner to have the chance to immerse ourselves for 3D2N in this slice of local heritage. I can only imagine how wonderful an experience it would be for Figment's residents when they WFH within the shophouse, either within their cosy room or surrounded by the tasteful design in the communal area. P.S. I am also a big fan of Haruki Murakami. My favourite books of his are “Norwegian Wood” and “What I Talk About When I Talk About Running”. So, it was such a pleasant surprise to find out that the studio for this giveaway is the Murakami Studio! 📖
Thank you for sharing and uncovering the history of Emerald Hill, which I frequently visit but never knew about. With the context to the rich history and heritage of the neighbourhood, I can better appreciate the architecture nuances highlighted in the video, such as the 5 foot yard walkway that Raffles wanted. I have also never been into a residential shophouse before, and always had the impression that since shophouses are old, the interior must be old but I was pleasantly surprised it retains the history and heritage with modern interior furnishings and a huge floor area which is preferred in recent times as we stay or work from home more often. Overall , I learnt alot from this video and thank you for sharing. Please continue to do more so such videos !
Hello! Thanks for your kind words! We'd warmly welcome you here 😀 Yes there are some of these shophouse hotels that you could also book to stay in too!
Liked and subscribed! I enjoyed so many things which I saw that I had to re-watch the video just to select one thing about it. What hit me the most was that I could immediately imagine my partner and I lounging around the space. It’s the down to earth vibes and cosiness inside that made me picture us at each spot, despite the exterior shouting “luxurious and unreachable” library house on Orchard Road. It’s like my heart rate goes up (and up) before entering the shophouse front door, but calms down upon transitioning into the homely interior - what strange feelings. That was my authentic feelings. ;)
Thank you for this video, definitely interesting to understand the history of Singapore’s heritage shophouses! My grandma used to stay in a shophouse in Craig Road, Tanjong Pagar & she often share her fond memories staying there when she was a young kid. It makes me wonder as to how big families stay & mingle together in such a small shared space :) I loved the Library House that you’ve brought us around because of the modern & Peranakan interior design and surely makes me want to relive my grandmother’s memories of living in a shophouse!
Hey Reuben, always enjoyed watching you host but after watching a couple videos thought I'd comment a small correction.. it's "memory lane" hahaha. Also the oowoo bird sound in the background is pretty haunting, thought I really had those birds cooing at this time! Great work as always Reuben/ Stacked Homes :)
I love the heritage vibe of the Library House, with the frosted windows, dark wooden stairs and beams while incorporating comfortable modern elements such as kitchenette within the room! I love the sneak peak into these exclusive shophouses, and I'd love to see more of such unique local tours!
Very informative video with charming presentation. Really like the mini history lesson. Would you consider to include the name of the supplier of the furniture and decorations during the house tour? You did mention Crate & barrel but there are some piece of furniture and paintings that I’m interested in finding out more.
In my opinion, this property is 10x more valuable than all the previous penthouse and condos shown in this channel. This is freehold, amazing location, accessible, limited quantity and uniquely singaporean. On par with GCB.
Thanks for this sharing session and walk down memory lane. Really appreciate the architecture and attention to detail. Does feel like time slow downs with Orchard Rd just around the corner.
Glad you enjoyed it. And omg yes time does slow down there. You can really feel the distinct difference as you walk through Emerald Hill. From the noisy bars near the front, to the quiet and rustic shophouses in the back.

Shophouses are such a mystery aren't they. It's always a wonder to see the inside given how special they are 😀
@@StackedHomes would you be able to do a house tour of the one with the blue car? I have always been so curious about that space

my childhood years were spent in a shophouse; not the heritage-looking or art deco-styled ones shown in the video, but one closer to a modern shophouse in the infographic.

Watching this video brings back so much fond memories, and I really love how Figment brings new perspectives to shophouses as well; showing how culture and modernity could co-exist in such harmony 🥺❤️
Fav spot would hands down be the cozy corner with the beanbag overlooking the 30year old bonsai tree!!!!
Thanks kq for your kind words!
Enjoyed your video, never knew some of the details you provided, thanks for the effort. Like the warmth feeling this house brings. Whenever I do see Ronald, I will sit beside him for a while.☺️
Thanks for watching!
Wowwwww! If only i could make myself invisible n be in this fabulace n relaxing habitat without being notice. Superb! I love it.
Haha thanks for watching!
I love the tall windows and the dark tone wood elements throughout to preserve a more traditional look.
Glad you love them! Thanks for watching!
Lovely tour! My favourite part is the atrium and the sound of running water, and the attention to detail, with the 30 year old bonsai. Definitely adds to the relaxing vibes of the home!
Us too! Thanks for watching!
Love the way Rueben interpreted and presented his ideas. Linguistically adequate and everything falls into place. Hopefully more Malaysians can learned and acquaint with his style of delivery. I'm a Malaysian, though.
Thank you!
Totally agree on this 😀 Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I enjoyed the airwell the most! The bonsai tree and the running water feature made the house feel very tranquil for me.
So did we! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for dropping by!
I love the vintage vibes, not just the shop house but the surroundings and the rich history. Wooden beams are my favourite feature in any home, I wished I could install wooden beams on my HDB ceiling, but I know it's near impossible.
Worth exploring the look 😀
I like how the features of the shophouse are still being preserved while still accomodating to the modern needs. My favourite part is the lightwell!
Yes there's always a real charm to blending in both the modern and heritage elements 🙌 Thanks for watching!
Love all of the small details in this shophouse, especially the 30-year old Bonsai Tree and there is a small reading corner facing it. Would love to chill there with a good read! :)
Good point! Thanks for sharing!
Another great video Reuben. I love that even the bonsai tree that they chose to put in the courtyard is itself aged and with some history. Everything in this wonderful building has history and substance - from the tiles to the doors.
So nice of you to say that! Thanks for sharing your thoughts Dominic!
The little nook at the window with the beanbag!
Looks like a great place to chill and have a drink after work! :D
It is! I think that's the idea behind it 😂
Was introduced to the bars along emerald hills during my polytechnic days. We were always peeking into the shophouses. The atrium area is so zen together with the bonsai tree. Thanks for featuring the shophouses... a great video and will be saving it up for decor references :)
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for doing this giveaway! What a lovely, spacious shophouse 🤩 Really like the atrium which provides a cosy nook to chill and just enjoy the natural light and admire the greenery/bonsai. Great for ventilation too! All in all, this shophouse just feels like home, and I think that’s the most important thing no matter where we travel to 😌
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Thanks for your detailed thoughts on this !
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Yes it's a really lovely place! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! And haha yes that is a lot of effort!
Well said! Thank you for watching!
Absolutely adore the eclectic mix between antique and modern-esque aesthetics, exemplified by the Murakami room featured - complete with that lovely cosy little nook! My wife and I look forward to your weekly house tours and insightful podcasts. Kudos to the team 😊
Glad you like it! Thank you for watching!
I love the sharing of the history of shophouses, it is very informative and interesting! The Library House is a well thought out and wonderfully designed co-living space. Where function and style co-exist perfectly!~
Thank you so much!
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching Casper!
Magnificent. Sad that modern buildings lack this kind of beauty
Thanks for your kind words!
Thanks for featuring shophouses and enlightening us on the history especially on the transformation through the decades🏡. The most pleasant surprise in the Library House is the kitchenette in each studio! It’s such a cozy self-sustaining living space by itself.
It's our pleasure!
Amidst all the chaos, concrete jungle and bustling city life, the Library House feels so much like an entirely different world of its own. Definitely an awesome place to relax and self-care!
It is! Thanks for watching 😀
I walk through this area from time to time and really appreciate all the details you pointed out in this video! Love what Figment have done with the Library House, putting the bonsai in was well worth it :)
Much appreciated! Thanks for sharing your kind words!
Hey Tamrend. Thank you so much for your kind words! We're glad that it brought back some memories :)
What a fantastic shophouse tour? Lovely, thanks for shooting this for us. I can imagine how much footage you guys have shot, esp there are so many perspectives in the clip, inside, outside, overhead, etc. I have more knowledge about SG shophouses. Very informative and educational.
Thanks for your kind words Vicky! Glad you liked it!
Omg absolutely blown away by the beautiful interior of the Library House!! I love the mix of modern and traditional elements and I would love to be able to experience living in the shophouse!!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
The exotic architecture of the space was a breath of fresh (old) air! it will be truly an experience to those used to the smaller, cramped houses that modern Singapore has today :)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@StackedHomes hello! may i know if the winner for the giveaway has been selected and announced? thank you:)
Amazing stuff - tastefully renovated in cohesion with the traditional architecture, textures, and materials. You introduced me to new housing options if/when I move to Singapore. Keep them coming!
Hey Diana, we're glad you enjoyed the video! Watch out for upcoming videos for more housing options in Singapore. :)
Very rustic yet love how it successfully integrates modern design. Great for staycation
Well said! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Nadia!
Lovely shophouse at emerald hill. One of my fave place.
Thanks for sharing!
Growing up with my parents at a tender in a shophouse, I could never forget peeking through the little windows towards the main street and people watching all day with them. The library house is such a modern and upscaled version of the traditional shophouse. It would be such a lovely one which my parents could can a chance to experience with their childhood memories.
Wow! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us 😊
People need to appreciate shophouses more and this video just does it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this Sharil!
@@StackedHomes no worries!
The house was unexpectedly big! But despite that it looks really cosy as well. It's a place that I'd definitely want to stay at to explore and experience!
Yes it's really deceiving that on the outside it appears like a small house, but it's really deep! Thank you for watching!
Thanks Reuben for the lovely walkthrough of the Figment shophouse with nice vintage exterior & tasteful interior cum decor. It's been my dream to live in a shophouse and hopefully own one someday. 🙏
Thank you for your kind words B!
I really like the interiors in Emerald Hill, reminds me of the Villas I stayed years ago in Bali, holiday and chill vibes. And especially one can really sit down and do some reading, shows that its a relaxed holiday! lol
Oh yes it does remind us of that too! Thanks for watching!
Love how homely and peaceful the whole library house feels even when its in the middle of a busy part of the country and that we can still enjoy our privacy while living in a co-living space.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Cassandra!
Always wanted to experience how it is like living in a shophouse in SG. Love this video as a sneak preview of how living in this space will be. The lighting throughout the house is really good, bright and airy interior design makes it nice and cozy and a wonderful place to come home to at the end of the day :)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
I love the architecture as well as the interior of The Library House! 😊😊😊
Us too!
Always wanted to explore shop houses and see how people lived and observe how different the designs are. Every house just seems so unique and beautifully designed. Thank you for bringing us this experience through your lens.
Glad we could bring the tour to you! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Ahh the Murukami room is such a dream with that cosy spot just by the window for me to just unwind and relax 😍😍 soooo sooo beautiful absolutely love the vibes and in awe of all that history behind these buildings 🤩
Thank you for watching!
I love how you shared the history of these houses in such an informative and interesting manner. Plus these houses are so aesthetically pleasing, which was really surprising for me. I would definitely love to try staying in one someday.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching!
Love the layout of the Murakami room! Hard to choose my favourite spot...it'd be the cosy kitchenette with the window by the side. Nothing like one's own space to cook and a view to enjoy while eating.
Thanks for letting us view this shophouse!
It's a really nice spot that you chose! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your kind words Sebas!
I like how homey it feels and as mentioned in the video, it's hard to believe that it's right in the middle of the CBD area (especially next to Orchard Road as well!). The rich history and the Peranakan/Chinese designs are timeless (i love the tiles). Great video as always.
It really is! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
There is a lot! Thanks for sharing your thoughts Junny!
Also, I share a love for the food by the new friend you made ;)
Hahaha 😂 Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
stack homes has some of the best linguistic expert. haha...
this is so far my favourite type of houses!! i never dream of living in GCB or any landed properties. BUt i would dream to live in a antique home like this. I know this kind of homes come with alot history baggage...
Thanks for the kind words!!
Love the little nooks and table ledges by the windows! really a fantastic place to enjoy a book :)
Totally agree! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for being so informative. Some things like a covered walk way under the shop house that we take for granted.
You are so welcome Mark! Thank you for watching!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
As an artist, the dream really is to live in such a creativity inducing space. The energy, the hustle and the bustle of shophouses will definitely spur unique inspirations.
Well said! Thanks for sharing!
Oh wow! We were in the exact spot 🙌 Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
i enjoyed how reuben was so flabbergasted by the well designed shophouse
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
great content.. this giving me some idea on how am i going to do the makeover for my ancestral old shoplot 🙏
Thank you 🙌
Thank you, Reuben, for the educational and well-presented video!
I see it as a really positive sign that there are increasingly more videos like yours shedding light on these shophouses which are an important part of Singaporean architecture. I also love how innovative businesses like Figment are serving as attractive use-cases for such shophouses and in turn preserving them in great condition! 😊
I really enjoyed browsing through the Figment website.
Just wanna say this was a really sweet video down memory lane, loved it!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!
Thanks for sharing your detailed thoughts with us!
I’m amazed by how they insert the tree into the middle of the shophouse using a crane.
Dedication right there 👌
Enjoyed learning about history of shophouses and orchard road, great stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it Thank you very much!
Omg I want to visit Singapore! Hi from North Carolina! In the meantime, I found your shophouse tour very inspirational
That was my authentic feelings. ;)
That's a great perspective! Thanks for sharing!
Aww that's so wholesome 😊 Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
Hey Joceline! Haha yes these birds can be quite the noise makers, sorry it got you spooked 😆
I love the heritage vibe of the Library House, with the frosted windows, dark wooden stairs and beams while incorporating comfortable modern elements such as kitchenette within the room! I love the sneak peak into these exclusive shophouses, and I'd love to see more of such unique local tours!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Very informative video with charming presentation. Really like the mini history lesson.
Would you consider to include the name of the supplier of the furniture and decorations during the house tour? You did mention Crate & barrel but there are some piece of furniture and paintings that I’m interested in finding out more.
Thanks for your question! We'll check and see if there's anything we can dig from this!
I can ditch staycation if thats my home. The Concept and furnitures definitely on point.
Thank you for your kind words!
Which camera are you using and is it the same for the whole video or just FPV only ? Thx
In my opinion, this property is 10x more valuable than all the previous penthouse and condos shown in this channel. This is freehold, amazing location, accessible, limited quantity and uniquely singaporean. On par with GCB.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!
