“Yes! Yes! I’m about to score a touchdown!”
Darrell Green: 😈
😂😂😂
He's scary fast at age 40, you can't say that with modern NFL players
"Tootsie Roll, baby--make you run fast."
Darrell Green was so fast for so long.
That man was running like he had rockets strapped to his feet.
Crazy speed. And nothing but respect for his hustle every down. The man was a *menace* on the field 😂
the Larry Allen chasedown was absolutely glorious
Fr
Just imagine someone of his size playing RB tho he obviously got the speed
@@ghostintheshell3576 I'm imagining it and it's magnificent. Although realistically I don't think someone that size could sustain that level of speed for a whole game, but I bet Larry would prove me wrong.
I saw the video title and all I heard was the two of them together saying 'Larry Allen!'
I've seen it a dozen times and it just looks impossible. Allen was flat-footed when the DB was on a dead run.
Larry Allen got the best chase down, for him to be that big and the way he ran down that LB was insane
Especially given that he was standing flat footed to start and didn't have a great angle for pursuit. I have no idea how he was able to accelerate like that.
Absolutely. I always liked Darrell Green and Sneaky Ed too!
@@mastick5106 he was covering 4 yards a stride, absolutely unbelievable.
I didn’t know that a big man like that could move so fast. I do remember seeing Tony Boselli, the Hall Of Fame offensive lineman was also over 300 lbs and he once ran down a DB to save a TD.
Darrell Green wasn’t 300 lbs, but it was how often he ran down some of the best RBs in the NFL at the time. Running down Tony Dorsett and Eric Dickerson was insane at that time. He made several other amazing stops to prevent TDs. That’s why Green was a first selection Hall Of Fame selection in his first year of eligibility.
What was really amazing is how far he was behind some of those runners and made up the gap in record time. Green nearly caught world class sprinter Ron Brown, but needed about another 5 yards to close the gap, but Brown made it across the end zone before Green could agh h him. Many times it is claimed that Brown outran Green that day, but if you watch the footage, Green was closing the gap and most definitely would have stopped Brown if there were five more yards before the end zone.
@@RoarOfWolverineI remember when he nearly caught Ron. It happened on a Monday night and if there was one man who I thought could beat Green in a sprint race in the mid to late 1980's, it's Ron Brown.
Someone needs to mention how much of an athlete Hunter Smith was. 3 straight highlights of him running down Deion Sanders, Desmond Howard and a blocked field goal return for touchdown attempt.
The most run-downs on this video...
Darrell Green- world class sprinter and defensive back and member of the HOF...
Second most.. A punter for the Colts that even Colts fans wouldn't recognize if they were standing next in line to him in the grocery store...
I was just typing “hey man good for Hunter Smith.”
Larry Allen was a 6'3", 325lb. offensive guard, who may have been the strongest NFL player ever. The man he chased down, Darion Conner, finished second in the Mississippi state high school 100m finals.
No that was a linebacker
WOW I AGREE !!!! That was awesome ... on the greatest offensive line ever assembled by Minnesota LOL
Never give up on the play said Charlie Hustle.
@@dorionisntsteezy59 no the guy that was tackled was the guy who finished second, and the guy who tackled him was larry allen
I don't even care that Larry Allen was a Cowboy. That was damn impressive.
Julio and DK running so majestically down the field saving their qb’s mistake is amazing to watch.
Julio could absolutely truck people
I swear Julios entire job was fixing the play after the interceptions thrown at least once every game 😂
Ben Watson catching champ Bailey was better
I love how Darrell Green is featured throughout this video. Not just in his rookie year, but as an aging veteran, and still one of the fastest players in the NFL.
He was the ultimate example of a guy who lost a step as he got older, but had way more than one to give.
He was fast but overrated. He had an angle and a head start on the Dorsett play that made him famous.
@Christopher Tracy are you kidding me??
He may have had a slight angle on THAT play, but seriously. He didn't need it. He just happened to have it. He was gaining so fast, even if he didn't have an angle he was going to catch him.
Darrell Green was the fastest man in the NFL for well over a decade.
@@christophertracy2807overrated? Lol. He came from behind on TD… not to mention the other rundowns they showed. Whatever…
@@christophertracy2807 the same Darrell Green that won multiple NFL Fastest Man competitions in the 80's and 90's when Players like Deion, Jerry Rice, Bo Jackson was in the league. Yea ok that overrated
D.K. Metcalf had arguably one of the greatest touchdown-saving tackles in NFL history as he quickly reacted to Russell Wilson throwing an interception to Budda Baker and immediately hustled down the sideline to deny a 100-yard pick six right before Baker had his chance in an absolutely insane foot race!
That’s Budda Baker…
I loved the twitter exchange between Budda and D.K.😁
36:06 DK!
Justin Tuck running down a prime Ladanian Tomlinson back in 2005 is incredible. Big man went on to have a legendary career with the GMen and play a massive role in 2 Super Bowl victories against the Patriots
He had a legitimate shout for Super Bowl MVP in XLII. Great player.
Absolute freak of nature. One of those guys that looks like a man playing amongst boys.
Was looking for the love for that play. He had that hustle in a 19 point deficit with 6:23 to go too, pretty sick
The way Tannehill straight up tackled Hurst after the interception was perfect.
33:05 It was like he ran away from the play just to get enough momentum to lay him out.
Six times Darrell Green was featured in this video. That just speaks volumes about the kind of career he had. Four times he competed in the Fastest Man In the NFL competition and four times he won. He was the fastest player in the NFL during his long career and may well be the fastest player ever.
Darrell played well into his 40s and was still able to compete. He ran a 4.6 forty on his 50th birthday just to prove he could still run faster than most young people playing in the league at that time. He was a first year selection for the NFLHOF and is a legend of the game.
The great thing about Darrell was how he was always able to make the tackle after running down some of the fastest running backs of that time. Tony Dorsett and Eric Dickerson had never been chased down and tackled until Darrell Green.
The tackle of Dorsett was in Green’s very first game of his career. It was the season opening Monday Night game and Darrell shocked the world by catching Tony and taking him down when everyone thought Dorsett had an easy TD.
I'm pretty sure he had more than six in his NFL career.. In my opinion Darrell Green was the fastest man to ever play in the NFL.
I love when showboaters get caught -- it's sooooooo satisfying
Larry Allen was an AMAZING athlete. Big as a house but could chase down linebackers and could easily dunk a basketball. Man was damn near a unicorn.
Title should read "A bunch of times NFL players tried to outrun Darryl Green and failed"
😂😂😂😂
Hilarious
Well, Julio Jones needs to get at least an honourable mention.
What school did he go to? 😂
@@terry7907definitely
The amount of horse collar tackles is staggering. Love the Vinatieri, Metcalf and all Darrel Green plays.
O believe they made those illegal after Joey Browner broke a dude leg . Joey was a marital arts dude strong and didn't back down from anyone.
Aka the Darrell Green invitational
that dude made plays.
I did NOT expect to see Payton Manning on this list 😂
and... I'm not sure the guy was actually down. It seems like he landed on Payton Manning but not the ground.
@@trackcoachmac If you stop trying to advance and/or are ruled down, you're down. Most likely, the guy's forearm or knee scraped the ground at some point though.
These were all awesome! Loved seeing all the great players and hearing the great announcers. The second angle on that Malcolm Jenkins tackle showed his amazing closing speed! 5:09
Darrell Green had so many highlights and used his incredible speed to play 20 years in the NFL - he was so fast. Anyone watching NFL in 2020 remembers that amazing DK Metcalf run down!
That Larry Allen rundown was damn near a video game cheat code!! Running down Bo Jackson should be a line item on your resume.
I wonder how many of these ended up with the team not scoring a TD 😳
DK metcalfs tackle actually saved it. Cardinals went for it on 4th and goal and got stopped
Don't matter these were great plays. Don't be a hater.
@@gabrielrizo3116 no I’m talking about the team with the player that got chased down, and props to the guy that caught him for saving a touchdown that would’ve been scored if he got to the end zone the first time.
@@gabrielrizo3116 reading
I know the Boswell tackle on Erickson was a four-point swing, as the Bengals couldn't punch it in and had to settle for a field goal. That four-point difference was also the Steelers' margin of victory. Add in Boswell's six field goals (five from 40+ yards) and it's easy to see why he got a game ball that day.
Darrell Green: The 🐐of chase down runners!
I was a cowboys dan but Darrel green as all my respect. The man was a beast.
Kids today have no idea of the legend of Darrell Green…
Yeah, Farrell was a first year HOF selection for a reason. He may well be the fastest player ever in NFL history. He won the Fastest Man In The NFL all four years he competed. He opened his rookie season by chasing down Tony Dorsett on the opening night of 😮Monday Night Football. He was something to watch.
You could do a whole video of just Darrell Green tackles
I could watch the Larry Allen run down a thousand time and it would put a smile on my face every single time
As a Cowboys fan, we should be annoyed by the turnover but we’re actually thankful LOL BC we got to see Larry do that lol
23:46 RIP Corporal Tillman...great safety Thank you for your service
Thanks President Bush, for starting a war in Iraq for illegal and made-up reasons to help his corporate benefactors. Thanks for opening up that whole second war that took away the majority of troops, vehicles, armor, helicopters, planes, satellite coverage, bribes, humanitarian aid, spies, and everything in between from Afghanistan that desperately needed additional support to fully rat out the Taliban and keep them gone. Thanks for allowing the actual terrorists to spawn and fester in Afghanistan while your companies like Haliburton rake in the big dollars. Thank you for tricking Americans into serving in the military because they thought they would be fighting for a good cause, and instead it turned out Bush only used them as corporate enriching goons, entirely disposable and discarded once they left service. Thanks for covering up the trauma done to this country and its people by demanding media could no longer cover the caskets coming off the planes because it was too embarrassing to your administration. Thank you for trying to cover up the circumstances of Tillman's death. You were such a good Administration, Bush. We should thank everyone for serving under him to support his and his cronies' interests.
Or, maybe, you don't thank people serving in the military because it isn't going to be for a good cause.
My HS coaches would HAMMER us on pursuit angles!! This video is a GREAT example and really brings me back!
Dorsett looked back and said, "Oh carp!".
35:36 just when you thought you were done seeing him, comes Darrell freakin’ Green again for like the 6th time this video
He was drastically underrated
@@kennondosher-rp4mw one of the most consistent DB’s in NFL history. He was last playing at 42 at a high level.
DG could have filled this whole video
Darrell Green is unbelievable ... dude is 63 years old and STILL runs a 40 sub 4.6 ...
Really? I have my doubts on that one lol.
@@mikepalmer2219u better believe it. I know that Darrell did run a 4.5 forty on his 50th birthday, so I have little doubt he can still run a 4.6 in his 60s. He played for the Redskins well into his 40s. Darrell is a legend and probably the fastest player ever in NFL history. Look, six of the highlights in this video were his, more than any other player.
@@RoarOfWolverine that is impressive.
@@mikepalmer2219 I will put my money on Green. I would never bet against him. From what I hear he is still faster than hell!
Darrell Green was amazing. Is amazing. Ran a 4.4 on his 44th birthday.
Best chasedown I have ever seen, and I haven't seen a highlight of it since it happened, was by Jevon Kearse. Kearse comes off the left end, play is a bubble screen to the right. He ran 7 yards into the backfield, all the way across the field, as the receiver took off up the sideline with another receiver directly behind him. Kearse caught up and tackled both of them :)
THAT WAS THE VERY BEST COMPILATION OF GREATEST FOOTBALL CHASES I'VE SEEN. COULD WATCH THAT OVER AND OVER. THANKS FOR THAT. WHAT GREAT ATHLETES. JUST AMAZING
One of the best NFL Throwback videos I've ever seen. Shout Out 2 Darrell Green #28!
So many good ones in this list. I like how some of the slower skill position players were aware of the risk, shifting the ball and protecting it (probably from experience), so their big gain wouldn't be erased. Larry Allen's run down is amazing lol. Also like to see T.O. pushing a defender into the guy and making the tackle...for all the drama associated with the guy, he never let up on his work ethic.
Congratulations to all the professional announcers calling touchdowns that never happened!
That was crazy how many of those tackles came inside the 1.
…and Darrell Green - just amazing.
The best ALMOST chase down was the Colts against Devin Hester in Super Bowl XLI. Watch Matt Giordano (#43). He doesn't give up immediately, and he starts running at the 25 and runs all the way across the field and catches prime Hester at the 101 yard line. That was one of the best plays of hustle I've ever seen.
I think it was XLI... super bowl XL was when the Seahawks were ROBBED. But we finally got one in XLVIII. Let us not speak of what happened the year after.
@epa316 You're right, I thought I had changed it, but apparently I didn't. What can I say? It was Trump's fault.
@epa316 Oh God, unfortunately my team was on the receiving end of that country ass whipping. What an embarrassing situation. THE ONE SUPER BOWL in the cold. Who gets it? The worst cold weather QB in the NFL. Two points for you: 1. Read Joe Buck's book, Lucky Bastard. He talks about that game. He married a former broncos cheerleader and all week she was bragging (about my team). So then Buck went to do the pregame interviews. The Broncos are all clowning around, being idiots, Manning will score six touchdowns...blah blah. So then he goes to interview the Seahawks. Cam Chancellor walks in like some prison just let him out. Slams a chair down two inches from Buck. Then Sherman, then Thomas, etc... Buck asked, "how will the game go?" Chancellor: "Well, Manning will hit DT across the middle, and Earl is going to smash him right in the fucking ribs. Then Welker will get it and will kill that little MFer." Buck went back home and said, "Your team is going to get the dog piss beaten out of them".
2. On the Marshawn Lynch thing, sore subject, I know. No one ever considers the possibility of Marshawn Lynch fumbling. I did. And it's a closer call than you think. There was about a 6% chance of Wilson throwing an INT, and about a 4.5% chance Wilson or Lynch fumble. It's closer than people think. Plus, isn't it smart to throw when everyone expects run? I don't know. I hate Pete Carroll, like seriously I have pure wrath for that douche canoe, but I don't think it was automatically a bad call. What do you think?
@@Mr.MikeBarksdale On #2, Lynch DID run the ball, and got taken down at the 1. He is Beast Mode, but he does get stuffed sometimes, and he does fumble sometimes. I think Brandon Browner on NE’s defense, who had been on the Seahawks team the year before, clued them in to watch out for the slant pass. Belichick is lucky that Butler made that interception, or he would have been roasted for not calling a timeout and preserving some time.
But whatever; it was a long time ago. Our team is getting better, and we still have the draft.
#1 "Almost" to me...Larry Fitzgerald in Super Bowl 43 almost chases down James Harrison...would've changed the game.
At age 31, Devin McCourty clocked the first and second fastest maximum speed of any NFL player in the 2017 season. Of course, New England fans will never forget his twin brother sprinting fifty yards to break up a sure TD pass in Superbowl LIII.
#1 Darrell Green vs Tony Dorsett #2 Darrell Green vs Eric Dickerson……everything else is distant
Not to nit pick, but the Rothlesburger one - he didn't chase him down, he just happened to be there and caught him. But still, these are all AMAZING!!! Thank you!
Hunter Smith must have been a state trooper!!! To make deion Sanders eat his words and catch Desmond Howard.... RESPECT!!!!
Larry Allen and Darrell Green were my favorite. DG was one of the most underrated players ever. That is back when the NFL was great!
Darrell Green was so fast, he was clocked running a 40 yard dash at 4.06 seconds in 1986.
It's amazing how some of the older clips show touchdown saving tackles that ened up horse collar tackles in today's game....
those Julio Jones tackles as well... what a player. would have loved to have him on defense as well. :D
RIP Walter Payton
Sure, but how the heck did he get in this video?? He chases down what looks like a defensive tackle who had only gotten about 25 yards with the ball, moving in slow motion?
Chase down tackles are my favorite “type” of play in the NFL, so this video is like heaven to me 😂
Benjamin Watson chasing down Champ Bailey 100 yards from the opposite side of the field is by far the best. A tight end his size chasing down one of the fastest CB
with a Ref in his way!
I remember this play. Champ Bailey is really fast but what a shock Watson was. The camera was on Champ and out of nowhere, like a blur, ambush! It was a great game. I’m a Broncos fan so the interception was sweet.
And ball went through end zone, should have been a touch back for the Pats
Heard Pat Tillman's name on a couple of tackles. A real American hero.
No, he was a stupid man, who bought into a bunch of fantasy military nonsense, losing his life.
Justin Tuck chasing down LT is crazy
It always will amaze me that some of these HUGE lineman can be that quick...How do they do that???
Tacklington
Lol
Don't showboat/celebrate until you get into the Endzone
Dang, Hunter Smith tracked down Prime and Desmond Howard?! Those are some good bragging rights
I had a hunch several of these involved Darrell Green. That guy was something. At 21:10 Frank Gifford said all, "He'll never get away from Darrell Green..."
Darrell Green was a beast. He is in half of these videos. 😮
This video is missing one of the most impressive chase downs: LB Patrick Willis chasing down WR Sean Morey in 2007. That was more impressive than 80% of the ones in this video (which were mostly small DBs chasing down bigger players)
Absolute the most impressive great event in NFL history. shout out to em all 🏈
The best video I’ve seen in quite awhile! Thank you to whoever put this together. A lot of work!
This entire video is awesome. Thank you for your fantastic work.
R.I.P. PatTillman you are not forgotten
The fact that anybody caught Bo Jackson from behind is just _ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!_
In another universe, Julio Jones is one of the greatest safeties of all time.
Awsome video keep up the awsome work
Larry Allen was something else.
That chase down by Julio at 16:50 is actually insane. That corner had a running start and the angle on Julio and yet he chased him down in 30 yards
Larry Allen chase down I will never ever forget!!!
I Didn't have too Watch all of it to See My Favorite of all Time. Tony Dorsett, of Dallas Cowboys being Caught by Daryl Green, of The Washington Redskins. That's the Absolute Best Ever. Thank You for Sharing.
There was no player with more speed, more guts, and more class than Darrell Green.
you will never ever see a better football video compilation--learn more, be thrilled more, see more, SPEED, EFFORT, BLOCKING, TACKLING, HOLE CREATIONS

Haha, yes! Especially on Extreme. My wide receivers with max speed and 8/10 stamina are being chased down from behind.
💀💀💀
21:10 easy pickens for Mr green
This was a great video. Edited to perfection. Thank you.
This was really just the Darrell Green highlights I think, that dude was pure smoke!!!
Some of these Lizzo highlights (lineman chase down) are crazy!!!😮😮😮
None will ever be as impressive as Larry Allen running down a linebacker!! Over 100 lb weight difference!! One of the best big men EVER!
The line backer caught the ball on the run and Larry started from a standing stop.
DK was more impressive easily.
I love to see the BIG guys chasing and making the tackle!
How fun! Larry Allen's was RE-DIK-U-LUS! Thank you for puttting this one together. 🙂
Matt Ryan turn Julio into a DB 😂😂
🤣🤣
Man there were a ton of Horse Collar tackles in this collection.
That was fair game back then
@@truthiscensored I know it was since the Horse Collar penalty started being enforced in 2005. I was just commenting on the fact that there were a bunch of them but never once referred to them as a penalty.
Nobody did it better than the Tootsie Roll munching Darrell Green what a great player he was.
Everyone is competing for second best rundown after Larry Allen’s.
This video should be called STATE TROOPERS OF THE NFL!!!😅😅😅
This Video 📸 Is Totally Amazing NFL Throwback 🏈🏉 Keep Up The Great Work.
I like how this video starts with a "High Speed Heavy Abrams Tank"~ Awesome vid! 😁
Luv to watch the Darrell Green clips .. life long Redskin Fan .. Great Memories
The Ben Watson one is my favorite. Literally ran 100 yards from the opposite side of the field, avoided a referee, and belted Champ Bailey out of bounds before he could score. If the refs called it a touchback it would be the greatest NFL play of all time.
I remember seeing an NFL films thing on that once. Watson said something like "I had a high school coach who told me that sometimes it's not about size or speed, athleticism or talent. Sometimes, if you want to win, you just have to be the one that tries the hardest."
Omg i knew that had to be on here I've been telling ppl about that play for years.

Julio probably loved getting that shot on Lattimore. Quality hit.
When they get caught celebrating early, it's the best!
Imagine the shock in Dickerson's head when he's caught from behind. 😳
Larry Allen, hands down THE best chase dpwn/take down ever..
TDST: Touchdown Saving Tackle should be recorded as a stat. This is the greatest tackle in football.
Darrell Green has 6 TDST in this video only. He must be the greatest safety of all time.
Darrell Green was a cornerback, fam
Safety wouldn’t have been his best spot. A ton of sped plays corner. Rod Woodson ( we know Green beat him in a race) lost a step and was very good hitter and could pick off a present from Santa.
Green and Deon were very fast
I’ll take Rod and no one is wrong
15:48 Well damn, Sanders caught ... and ended his career with 99 rushing TD
Barry Sanders used to get caught a lot from behind. Probably the only flaw of his game
Larry Allen is a MONSTER! To catch that guy and he didn’t have the angle. He just outran him.
Awsome video
That was a fun ride. I'd like to see a comp of the greatest plays that were nullified by a penalty. There have to be hundreds.
Benjamin came over 100 yards from the opposite side of the field like a f'n F15.
really enjoyed this. great video.
Darrell Green is in the hall of fame for a reason.
What , stop telling secrets.
