It is really hard I do colorgaurd for my school. And as a 13 year old having more experience and having to do rifle saber and flag it’s so much fun but so hard at the same time!

@SpintronixGuard I was like at the back of the floor, a few steps from where the floor ends and the judge table was like right where the floor ended. I think the judge table was the only thing separating the audience from us.
This video was made a year ago but I’m normally a band kid. I joined winter guard because I loved watching the color guard during marching season, but I’m the only new person on the team and it’s been hard being the only one having trouble so seeing this is really cool.
These clips are from our 2020 show (before everything got shut down) and I am glad it’s helpful to you to see this!!! We all have to work hard to get to where we want to be and it’s important to see that side of things.
I’m in Color guard, and I can relate to the messing up part. Just find where you are and continue like nothing happened. I just got my rifle today and I’m still learning, but it’s really not as complicated as it seems. So I really don’t recommend scaring yourself.
It's true though, What I always say is that If you work at it, and keep trying, You will always get in the end. But don't take it too hard on yourself, learn from your mistakes to improve.

i think we have all had our bad performances i went from doing drop spins and a pop toss to spinning weapons and flint sit rolls with a toss we all have our moments and that’s okay bc we will grow from those moments
It’s completely okay I messed up both my solo parts in one comp, i couldn’t see when I looked up bc of the glitter eyeshadow that caught the light and completely smacked myself in the face and when I was running for my other solo I tripped and fell due to my pants being too long😂

Bro literally earlier today I broke down crying cause it was so hard and I messed up so much and I didn’t know what was coming next! And I ended up missing out pretty much all of the routine that we learned so far for marching band! So yeah it’s hard but it’s still really fun and I enjoy it and it’s definitely worth it!❤
I just had winter guard championships at the nixa eagles high school on Saturday, we got second place in our group!! We had a drop and some counts were off but we got 83.04 Guard is a true sport and it’s not easy, but it’s so special to me
We just had our first competition yesterday!! We got 3rd place with around 53 points! It was really difficult and I dropped the last toss but it was pretty good for our first comp :)
Im trying out for color guard for next year and if I make it I am nervous that I will forget the routines for marching band season and I won’t know what to do then be out of sync with everyone
Congrats on trying out! You are taking the first step into what could be an awesome future if you decide to stick with it. When you learn routines and then practice them over and over again your body does this cool thing we call “muscle memory.” Once the music begins your mind will focus on the performance while your body will do the EXACT thing you practiced. It feels like magic!

I do winter guard at my middle school right now and I'm 14 I've been in our program since I was 11. It is crazy how fast time goes by it feels like just yesterday I was preforming my first show and struggling lol. Now next month is premier of my 3rd year and I have 2 major solos and captain of my team. It is honestly insane how fast time goes

My greatest fear when doing a winter guard competition 😂 Small story time this one competition for are performance we were supposed to move the props but um 😅 are roadies put the breaks on the props and we all FROZE when the props wouldn't move and we spent to long trying to turn the break off so we had to jump right into the ending 😂(we cried after but it's ok) now we laugh about it ❤️ I wouldn't trade winter/color guard for anything
Oh man that reminds me of 2018… we had a door prop that we were supposed to be able to go in and out of, but someone accidentally LOCKED the door before the performance at state championships. So everyone had to go around it instead of through it. 🤦🏼♀️
I was in color guard last year and I’m doing it this year to and my first performance this year is at a football game and I’m scared but I think my cousin was is the performance in this video
It’s definitely hard but it’s SO worth it!!! Really anything you do in life is going to have its ups and downs, you might as well do something that’s fun to do!

My school does 8 HOUR PRACTICES where YOU STAY AT THE SCHOOL OVERNIGHT 😭

Doing color guard is fun just learning how to do a 45 on the day before the competition was one of the most stressful things ever

I just joined and have a parade in a few days and only remember about half of the moves and I'm a little anxious tbh
Parades are great for that!!! You’re going to repeat the choreography SO MANY TIMES during the route, it will be second nature by the halfway point!

Oops. That one really stinks too. I always say to get the flag picked up and recover ASAP but, man sometimes it’s just not possible.
