I have had a few different “exotic animals” that were all rescues and I can say that all of them made for terrible pets. Just because something is cute and sweet doesn’t mean you should own one
Does this include foxes? Its been a dream of mine to care for a fox as a pet, but if it's not going to be safe for both myself and the fox I can give up that dream. I've seen quite a few people who have had foxes, but never really got the full run down. If you don't have an answer, that's alright, lol.
I really like your point. It’s fine to have them if they are a rescue, you know what you are doing, and can take care of them. Especially if there are no sanctuaries for the animal whete you live. In my area, the only option would be giving them to a local zoo, which is rather a bad option, and they would have hundreds of people starring at them for hours daily, which is rather stressful. However, videos like this one here, might end up causing many people who have no knowledge, to just buy the animal, treating it like owning a cat, or worst, buying it to make pictures or videos to post and earn money on them. Or reproduce them and sell their kids to earn money.

Most states these little guys are illegal unless you have a permit (Texas and Ohio are known exceptions and you could get one without any permits). Even when bred in captivity they aren’t fully domesticated yet and these captive bred foxes cannot be released back into the wild. There’s more but mainly the cost and work should be enough to deter most intelligent people from getting these little foxes.

California too, you have to be a legalized breeder and it's a very tiny list of people otherwise owning any animal deemed a predator is hella illegal here.
If you want to interact with wild animals, get the training to be a certified animal rescuer! Lord knows we need more injured foxes nursed back to health! But also maybe DON'T interact with a wild animal if you aren't a vet/rescuer/zookeeper/etc? You can get arrested at the least, and the worse comes in forms of the animal attacking or you actively killing it instead of helping. So... Maybe instead of making pros and cons about owning a fox, they should be saying "don't buy one unless you're certified" (which still ain't good but.)

@cro no. Thats not why fennic foxes dont want to cuddle. Its because they aren't social animals. Cats are DOMESTICATED. We specifically bred them for a very very long time to be more friendly. If you knew anything about cats you would know they've been bred to be more like kittens. They kneed us like theyre kittens trying to get milk. Fennic foxes are completely feral and wild. That's the difference. Cats are also notorious for not being cuddly. Theyre domesticated animals we bred to be cuddly and want our attention... Yet they barely do. How cuddly do you really think a wild animal will be if they're comparable to cats socially? Yet again cats are a horrible example because they're D O M E S T I C ANIMALS!! WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WILD ANIMALS HERE! Not comparable in the slightest. What reason is there to keep a fennic fox other than they are cute?? Cats are so far removed from their wild counterparts that that's argument enough to keep them because they've been bred for so long to suit our needs. Fennic foxes have extremely specific needs that can't be bred out of them. Cats don't. Cats need a litter box and something to trim their claws and thats enough to make them happy. Thats not nearly enough for a fennic fox.

There are people who literally live with prides of lions simply because they understand and mimic lion psychology

So... Cons: You're better off raising children
Actually they can be. But its special breed, that isn't aggressive
They can. 🙄
@@Nana39290 This specific breed cannot be. Domestication takes thousands of years. 🙄
@@cutienerdgirl oh okay. Thank you!
@@cutienerdgirl domestication doesn’t take thousands of years lol. it’s takes as little as 10 years. i even fact checked it lol
Or, you know, you could just get a cat instead!

Actually the ones people keep as pets have been domesticated over the years in a similar way that dogs and cats have
@@ratvessel1684 no they're not. They're not domesticated, it takes centuries to become domesticated. Stop spreading lies

cons: a literal wild animal when the world is overpopulated by stray domestics. specifically- a desert animal with hypersensitive hearing that will be stressed out by every noise you make and the sounds of every electronic in your house.
❤️❤️❤️ yep!
true true true true
Thanks was thinking the same thing, this is the result of your parents having to much money.
I also like that she said they need cat food with fruit and vegetables when fennec foxes are non-domesticated OBLIGATE CARNIVORES....they ain't eating fruits in the wild let alone anything a human grows
@@killerslowpoke Fox are Omnivores they rely heavily on meat, so it would be more of a supplemental nutrition.
Dont forget they're an exotic animal so you need an exotics vet. You also need to give them a sandbox to burrow in. They're nocturnal. Theyre not social animals so they dont want to cuddle. There's no reason to keep one of these animals as a pet...
"but it's cute" is all these people think! Lmao
@@skinlesswalnut6259 its sad. Human selfishness. Its one thing if its a rehabilitation animal or one that can never go to the wild again. But its another to steal an animal from the wild to keep it as a pet... When we barely understand their basic needs and common people really can't handle these wild animals. Its sad. We do it for our own entertainment...
@cro what do you mean? Cats cuddle all the time. They love the company of humans.
@cro someone's never heard of a cat colony I see
Every time UA-cam shows me a short of a white girl and her exotic pets that she keeps in her McMansion, an angel is drawn and quartered
