I had to watch this video twice. There is nothing wrong with you two laughing, ignore those clowns 🤡 who say otherwise. I love how you found mamie's grave, I believe she is there as well, or pretty close. This is another tragic story. 😥 when she said she was having affairs with some prominent citizens, she pretty much signed her own death warrant. Interesting about her husband dying in a asylum later. Heather, you did an outstanding job researching this story, thank you. Perhaps one day, someone out of the goodness of his/her heart ❤️ will put a simple marker on Mamie's grave. Thank you very much again, Leo and Heather, for another great story, and video. Have a great day.

WOW! I just absolutely loved this video. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful piece of history. When I lived in Charleston, I heard about Mamie Thurman's murder and all of the theories about how she died, why, and the murderer. I immensely enjoyed the history. of Mamie Thurman's murder. There is a road on the East side of the state capitol building in Salt Lake City, Utah. Locals call it Gravity Hill. As a teenager in the '70's, my friends and I would often go there and roll uphill. I grew up in SLC, but I live in North Idaho now. My son took me to SLC in 2018 to see a Bob Seger concert. I told my son about Gravity Hill and he didn't believe me. (brat...) So, I took him there. He was driving and he experienced rolling uphill for himself. It was great entertainment for me. lol Fun video!!

Just discovered y’all’s channel a couple days ago. Really enjoying the videos here. I’ve heard of this case before on Mysterious WV., but y’all put in a few details that I either forgot or Sean didn’t include. As an aside, Mamie is pronounced May-me.
Thank you! I call her mamie because everyone I know calls her that, I don't know one person who calls her mayme in my part of WV. So it feels odd to me
No worries. I’m in Tennessee and have known a couple women who pronounce it as May-me. Probably just the difference in areas and the unique dialect you will hear depending on the part of the country you live in.
I have my Mamaw’s notebook when she wrote that Mamie had been killed. Heather, her first name is pronounced like Mayme. My Mamaw’s name was Matilda Jane and she was known from infancy as Mamie or Mayme. I love y’all!
Welcome to Logan, WV! It was such a great place to grow up and go to school. Graduated in 1974 from Logan High School. Every store was occupied back in the day! It definitely was booming!
New subscriber here!🙋♀️ Love your videos! Just came across your channel. I’m from Crawley Creek, and am in Logan a lot! I’ve been to 22 Mine Rd a lot also. I’ve done the car trick multiple times, and it works every time. You have to be in just the right spot. Some people say it’s just an illusion, but many say it’s the ghost of Mamie. I actually fell off a cliff up there back in 2012 and about killed my damned self. I’ve always said that Mamie pushed me.😬 Lol. Thank you for these cool videos y’all do, and for sharing the forgotten history of this awesome state! Kudos!😊 Edit: Also, yes they did do a play based on this story in the Chief Logan State Park Amphitheater a couple/few years ago. You can find articles about it in old Logan Banner papers.
I came across one of your shows and liked it so much I am looking forward to the next one. I think the husband did it, crime of passion with the over kill. It was a small town, so he knew. But in those days, she would have been a wanton woman and ask for it. The husband would have been viewed as the victim being a respectable lawman out patrolling crime while his very loose and disrespecting wife was patrolling men.
I’m from Logan county. I use to party on 22 mountain road, to try and see her ghost. There is a cemetery in McConnel WV, which is where I lived till I was 18. My grandmother has a picture of herself sitting on a cross in the McConnell cemetery, people swear that marked her grave. I’ve been to the cemetery several times to try and find it, but it’s so overgrown. Ahhhh my hometown of Logan, damn I miss it
As a fellow west Virginian I love the laughter. I'm a new subscriber been thinking of starting a channel myself but anyways so far the couple videos I've seen so far are great keep up the good work.
my comment is about one of your videos from 1 month ago called "Kentucky winter camping". Would you please give a review on the tent you used. Is it big enough for 2 adults? How sturdy? Would you recommend it etc. Measurements, how the layers work? Is it hard to set up?
Good research. You have me convinced that she's buried there such a shame a beautiful young woman murdered like that. But as I always told my kids & now my little grandsons bad choices have bad ends. She definitely was playing with fire. She's lucky she didn't end up pregnant. Poor Clarence. How convenient to blame the black man. Do you have ideas about who really did kill her? Your car going backwards up that hill - too creepy & spooky for me. I can guarantee you I will NEVER go to that road. The thought of ghosts scare the damn daylights out of me. I sure as hell do not want to meet one. You are braver people than I am Thanks for a very interesting video.
Yep , Makes sense.....the way words sound and context gets confused sometimes .. in The 80s in WV a bunch of fisherman started aggravating their state representatives about the state stopping stocking streams and lakes with fish.......... Turns out they were misinterpreting the new ANTI-STALKING LEGISLATION they had heard about.
I was hoping you all would do this story. My Dad worked at Hobet mine #7 up 22 mine road. He worked there for 32 years. I heard a lot of stories about her ghost.
@@thehillbillyfiles maybe next timeI come in for a visit we can meet up for lunch and I can share some with you. I was raised over in Delbarton. Not too far from you all.

No one I know calls her mayme, so I never did
Love this video ❤️Thanks for all the great videos...keep it up ☺️
You are so welcome!

LOVE when I hear laughter !! Keep on laughing 😍🥰‼️
Kudos!😊
Edit: Also, yes they did do a play based on this story in the Chief Logan State Park Amphitheater a couple/few years ago. You can find articles about it in old Logan Banner papers.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I enjoy your video very much.
Thank you very much!
Great Detective Work! I'm curious about the STEELE monument because my area is rich with history involving the Steele Family!
Very possible
Love you guys. Keep on laughing, and keep up the great work. This Yankee is watching from Western NY.
Ahhhh my hometown of Logan, damn I miss it
I just discovered your channel, love your content, I subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
As a fellow west Virginian I love the laughter. I'm a new subscriber been thinking of starting a channel myself but anyways so far the couple videos I've seen so far are great keep up the good work.
Thanks! You should try a channel, it's been mostly fun besides rude people time to time
I have been debating back and forth for a long time on starting a channel the big thing holding me back is the editing I have no clue where to start.
my comment is about one of your videos from 1 month ago called "Kentucky winter camping".
Thank you. You made our evening.
😂
Very good detective work guys!! Interesting & an attention getter for sure
Thanks so much!
I was hoping you all would do this story. My Dad worked at Hobet mine #7 up 22 mine road. He worked there for 32 years. I heard a lot of stories about her ghost.
Oh very neat! Would love to hear some
@@thehillbillyfiles maybe next timeI come in for a visit we can meet up for lunch and I can share some with you. I was raised over in Delbarton. Not too far from you all.
@@jasonrunyon2663 sounds good thanks
Yep, rake and a pitchfork
Y’all have great voices for this! So glad I found your channel! I think there is not one thing wrong with laughing, I like it! 😁 What do you suppose to do, cry? 😁
Thanks so much!! Yes I agree! Appreciate the comments
Fantastic story guys
Thank you 😀
That's so sad and such a shame the cemetery is in that condition.
That's just sad to see that cemetery forgotten 😢
I love this video and I agree with you about the grave!!
Thanks so much 😊
Hey Leo and Heather I've been catching up on all your videos I think you're doing a great job I grew up with a guy who's family is from Pikeville sorry I can't join the channel I don't have a credit card I'm going to plan a trip to the area to area for a adventure
That was amazing you guys!
Aww thank you 😊
There’s not enough laughter in this world…we need more laughter less hate.
Just discovered your channel. I’m a subscriber. Really enjoy your videos.
