    I just found out my neighbor is from Marshall Islands! I gave him a pint of blueberries the other day, and today he gave me some chocolate covered macadamia nuts, lol.
    Nice dude, super friendly and yes, LOVES to laugh!

    I know these guys, Taylor and McComie. I served with them in the Marshall Islands in 2011 to 2013. What they say is true. It was such a great place to live.

    Everyone does go to church regularly. And a "pick me up" basketball game draws a crowd. Not much else to do. Internet is slow and expensive ($0.10/min). I go there regularly for business reasons for the last 40 years (I live in Guam) and have not noticed any changes in high water marks. He is right about one thing though. The people are great.

    I knew plenty marshallese in big island in Hawaii. I was once invited over for dinner. I have a new appreciation for what they did for me. Those were amazing pork chops

    A fermented breadfruit base that was not wash in sea water and fresh water result in having that stinky smell. So it was eating during famine time and also it is better to eat with fresh crated coconuts. You need to eat it more than once and you will love it like stinky cheese.

    Hi doing a brief talk on 1 March in remembrance of the US bombing in the Pacific and the fallout on the Marshall Islands - can I ask what the local take on the Nuclear testing is?

    Is water-catchment still the primary source of drinking water in Majuro?

    • @altonledoux7430
      @altonledoux7430 3 роки тому +2

      2021. yes. Runoff from the runway main source but most houses have their own catchments.

    If one wants to leave The United States and retire there what is the best way to go
    about doing this?

      @Tom Wilson The atolls are actually eroding and sinking. I encourage you to do some homework on how atolls are formed and how they will disappear.

    • @JMan-24
      @JMan-24 3 роки тому +1

      It is all readily available info if one can get to the geology without drowning in politics. Basically the atolls are dead volcanic mountains on the sea floor. Over time their weight depresses the tectonic plate on which they sit. The coral grows around the outside of the old mountain and struggles to stay near the surface as the whole thing sinks and erodes. Eventually they will all disappear as erosion of the land is the predominant force.
      There are lots of atolls in various states in the Marshall Islands, Caroline Islands etc. some are all submerged and some still have mountain tops remaining above water. Kwajalein is a good example of this.

    • @JMan-24
      @JMan-24 3 роки тому +3

      @Tom Wilson The islands are eroding through natural processes and don’t underestimate the speed that happens. Yes rising sea levels would speed this up but the fact is no one can predict this accurately. Back to the main point, to state that you shouldn’t retire there because of rising sea levels is just alarmist and ridiculous.
