Took one-on-one lessons with Jared years ago. I still use a lot of his exercises to this day and they REALLY made a difference, it's the real deal. Wouldn't be the player that I am today if it wasn't for him. Incredible teacher, can highly recommend his approach. Thanks so much 🤘
I took a couple as well and they blew my mind. Thanks to him I can get through 10% of an Archspire song at 50% speed!!! Seriously though, Jared is awesome. Please put more of him on this channel :)
@@dbumpppYay another „Alumni“ 😁 I concur, Jared is a reason to click as fast as I can. Videos like this are a gem. I‘ll watch them daily to practice along ❤
I took lessons with him too as well as Nick from Havok and JFaC. The right hand techniques they both teach are astounding and I learned so much from them.
Man we need more lessons for bass! With a bunch of bedroom projects, almost all of them using virtual bass libraries, we need to step it up and make these kids realize how much of a difference a fantastic bassist makes.
The fact that you are wearing a Big Trouble Little China shirt just made you my #1 favorite technical metal guitar player. That was my favorite movie growing up
Cool video and I love Jared's playing but we're all still waiting to hear who the new dummer is. Was really hoping it was Kevin but since he's out I'm hoping it's John.
unless you already play guitar just learn righty, its going to be incredibly alien regardless of direction if it will be your first stringed instrument and not limiting to lefties means you can play all make/model/neck profiles not what manufacturers limit lefties to. My 2 cents from my days in a guitar shop.
@AThousandSons1 While that makes sense, I've already been doing hammer-ons, pull-offs, tapping, etc for 15+ years on Guitar Hero and eventually Clone Hero as a lefty, so it is very natural/comfortable to play lefty (and I write lefty). I also played guitar lefty in high-school (for 1 semester) and both my BC Rich Warlock Revenge and accoustic/electric Ibanez are lefty. I am very much committed to staying lefty but I appreciate the help. Plus Paul Gray (Slipknot) was lefty (I believe) so I'm a bit inspired by him.
@@Benobot99 totally respectable just gotta make sure you know it's a nightmare to "try before buying", wish you best of luck! I'm an ernie ball stingray guy myself, and they definitely make lefties!
buy a glarry 5 string or 6 string bass. they're actually cheap for a starter instrument can find them under 100$ not the best bass in the world, but its a lot better than the price leads you to believe and you can learn A LOT. i run a glarry bass through paralax by neural DSP and that shit sounds absolutely disgusting for a 100$ bass.
Yeah seriously, best bass I've ever played. The neck is super fast and comfortable and the pickups are brutal 😊 so glad I pulled the trigger on it rather than a Dingwall for 2k more.
@@fysy9989 Imagine that on Friday evening I received information that my parcel was completely damaged. If there was a hole or two on the box, I would still accept it, but when I saw the photo... it was too much, the box was broken into pieces. I've been waiting for her so long, so long... now she has to go back to Germany and I hope they will send me a new one, but I'll have to wait again.
This lesson was fantastic, the graduated speed increases are perfect for play along, I was able to keep up till the very end, which surprised me! It's actually a very simple technique when broken down and taught well like this, and I can already feel the gears turning about other ways to utilize the technique: other intervals, shifting the motion around on the fretboard with chord changes to created arpeggiated melodies... now I have a fun new toy to play with in my own practicing -- great lesson!
I started learning drums when I was 12 after already playing guitar for 3 years. I never remembered consciously coming across triplets before I started on drums and I could NOT get my head around them - I had to play them with weird rudiments as RLRRLRR instead of the normal RLRLRLR. One day though, they just *clicked* and I was like "why did I struggle with this so much before?!"
This is very beginner stuff, how about a follow-up with how to move the tapping around and how to tap beyond the initial shape and hit notes with right hand to be more interesting.
i have a question for Jared how do you get your signature bass tone and do you have any recommendations for some one trying to get the same bass tone but with free bass plugins
If you wanna play death metal you better keep your Primus skills back at home. It's impressive noodeling but kills every slime covered morbid vibe right from the get go. When you make the cherry on top to your center piece you might only end up with a pile of cherries but no cake.
More Jared is all we need!!!!

Jared is an absolute monster on bass. Also, this is a great way to practice. This is how I learn riffs.
The fact that you are wearing a Big Trouble Little China shirt just made you my #1 favorite technical metal guitar player. That was my favorite movie growing up
You never could beat me egg shen😈😈😈
@MaXaNoMaLoUs who are these? Friends of yours? Now this really pisses me off to no end! Hahaha
That's one of the most beautiful bass guitars I have ever seen.
0:54 wow that alternate scale neck looks so trippy from this angle. its like an illusion XD
2 seconds in and I am crying already! My biggest inspiration😍
Awesome! Im signing up forthwith! Oh man that Dingwall!
Pleaseee more Jared
Thanks Dean for reminding me that I bought myself Big trouble in Little China for Christmas and should find time to watch it haha
Oh sick, bass lessons! I've been practicing the two hand tapped arpeggios on bass because of an old Jared interview I saw.
Yeeeeahhhh more bass videos please!! Great job!! 💪🏼💪🏼
Yay!, a Jared video!
Love the T shirt! All in the reflexes

I cannot wait to watch this!
Finally something I'll be able to play 😂
Is there a way to get jareds quad cortex presets? 😮
when will you be on Right Now with John Goblikon?
Jared is a bass god. The whole band is a unit
Dean, any way you could make a quad cortex tone build? Or maybe a tone pack to buy?! I need the juice
Awesome. I'm hoping to get a bass guitar this year and give playing bass a go. Lefty though, so they are hard to find on a small budget.

I got the BTB 605MS and it's amazing. Have fun with this one!

Thanks Dean now I've given up bass as well 😂
Hooked on bass fonics with Jared Smith.

That first tapping pattern kinda sounds like Say It Ain’t So 😂
Fucken sick!

Would it be possible if you do this as well in udemy?
More Jared. Or just have him make his own channel!
i have a question for Jared how do you get your signature bass tone and do you have any recommendations for some one trying to get the same bass tone but with free bass plugins
More jared!!
I am an Archspiring bass player. I'm not actually. Just wanted to make the joke...
Fapping!? Dean, you hornball.
Spaghett!
Maybe its....fapping?? Lol fuck yea bro you guys are insane
Lol... I see deans almost as many people as me
Watching 210 bpm on 2x speed you do the math 😎
Is it true that he learned bass to join the band?
Yes - according to a recent drummer audition reaction video. He auditioned using a bass he rented from a local music store. Crazy, right?!?!
Relentless Mutation
Bass 8-bit

Jesus. Literally and figuratively.
big trouble
Jared rips
Jared plays a bigger guitar than you.
I thought all of you were bald.
He's probably the best bassist of all time and he's a guitarist, lol.
Normal tapping...
It needs controlled speed
More Jared, please! Would love to learn more techniques
