I tried to watch the official tutorial on the UAD channel, couldn't. It was so boring, I learned nothing. Found your video and learned! Thank you!

Just thought I’d say that Logic Pro is another DAW that has the full channel strip for a single track available in the main window without having to open up the full mixer. I’ve used Logic since 2013, and I’m shocked to hear that other DAWs don’t have this feature. I can’t imagine what an inconvenience it would be to use a DAW without that.

It's pleasing to see that clip gain is supported but what about functions such as Protools shuffle, slip and spot modes as well as a tool that automatically changes depending on what editing function you're using including clip fades?

Long-time Logic user here, and new to Luna. Posting this in June 2024, so about a year after you recorded this video. Your series is looking pretty good so far, so thank you :)
Just wanted to point out, though, that Logic also has that channel strip on the Track/Arrangement page and the Stereo Out strip as well, and you can do anything in those that would be done in the Mixer view - just like in Luna. So while tracking, and if we want plugins active, for example, you can do all that right from the main Arrangement window (Tracks View) without flicking back and forth to the mixer just to tweak a plugin while tracking. Keep up the good work :)

How do I see the numeric level of each channel? All I can see is the channels meter but no actual numerics on it. I would like to see numerically where I am level wise on each channel

Awesome! Thanks I’m guessing after the mixing, you’ll do a tracking session?

For making any kind of electronic/rap/pop music it’s so far behind every other daw, it’s painful. Midi editing/piano roll is 20 years behind most other daws. For mixing though, if you are in the UAD world, it sounds very nice. Workflow for everything else needs a lot of work.

You may be correct. I dont ever work with rap / electronic music so I am not up to date on that.

For rap and other electronic music, Live is the way to go.

Thanks for these videos. I have a Question. On the tape slot and the console slot on each track within the free version of LUNA for windows, two VST options are available for "demo" with option to buy. I have a full subscription to UI Spark, and I own two of the offers outright. Try as I may, I cannot load either the tape slot or the console slot with the same VST's I already purchased. Unless I demo with option to buy what I already have license's for, I cannot use these slots. Bug, or user error? Have you heard of this? It is BETA for Windows, so perhaps a bug?

I am a longtime UA environment user. That said, even though I am a UA homer, and think that Luna fits my desired workflow to a T, Luna has some major missing features. MIDI implementation is lacking; plugin control via the MCU protocol is still pending, among other items that have been around much longer in other DAWs.
I do commend you for starting out with a very positive review, and I am sure you will go over these items in further episodes of this review.
But I want to emphasize that instead of framing the issue as “should you switch to Luna?”, to “Should you switch to Luna and (name your favorite DAW)?” IOW, use Luna for tracking through an Apollo with UAD powered plugins, and maybe S1 or Logic for MIDI and plugin control with a controller.
Also, please cover the types of UA plugins that can be used in Luna (native, powered, and extensions) so newbie’s will understand when and if they need an Apollo to use that specific type of plugin.
Finally, though not directly on topic, please use Luna to do a video on the new SSL UF-1 so you can cover the spill feature in Luna. It will give you a chance to also illustrate the Luna template and how it works with UF-1 and UF-8. Also note that both hardware units support multiple DAWs (up to 3 at a time on each unit and 6 DAWs total if you have both units) so switching between DAWs is simple. Again, combine and select the DAW that has the feature you want to use.

I've had Luna for a while now, but being in Logic for so long it didn't take much to keep me running back to it. I've watched countless of other Luna tutorials but yours definitly seem to make it much more comprehendable for me personally. So thank you and hope to see more from you on Luna.
