I have always said, " If you are going to have the audacity to cover a great song, You had better make it your own, and do it better than the original. Disturbed Nails it every time. That's a different kind of talent.
People need to understand one thing....artists who do covers are not trying to "top" the original, or claim that one version is better than the other. They are just doing their own interpretations of songs that they probably love themselves. Art is a fluid medium. Having someone cover your song is a tribute to the original's quality.
Disturbed is a great band. And I personally think that the fact that they can cover the songs they have shows skill and range of influence rarely seen these days. Rock on peoples!!
I think this is a great cover. It''s not about sounding like the original. They're not U2 and they're not trying to be U2. It's about putting your own mark on the song, which I think they've done perfectly. Thumbs up!
they deserve pure respect just for fucking doing this. holy shit. when i heard they covered this i raced here thinking “what the FUCK is that gonna sound like” and i wasn’t disappointed at all. defs the most “shoehorned” of their covers, but like i said; they get mad respect for making it even work as it does. Disturbed is so fucking sick.
This is my favorite cover of this song. That being said I love U2's original version very much. The one I prefer depends on my mood since disturbed manages to change the song's genre really well
I think both versions rock. Some people that say disturbes version sucks I believe are just being hateful to be hateful cause it definitely dont suck its an excellent cover so much so that to say it sucks just dont compute in my mind ..that being said I can & do understand that when your used to something the change can be different but in no way what's so ever does disturbes version suck i do understand & agree we all have a right to our own opinion but i also believe that sometimes its about just being hateful & not honestly expressing an opinion...also keep in mind that when a band covers another band it's out of respect for that band....another song I believe is just beautifully done is Metallicas cover of turn the page
Idk, I like both. U2 is also one of my favorite bands (along with Disturbed) & U2's version is my favorite, but this one is awesome, too! It's just going in a different direction.
I totally agree. They always do such am amazing job and pick awesome songs from great bands. They do things others wouldn't and the deliver each and every time!
Very good version of this song .A real surprise these guys can really play. The drums are top class ,plus the rest of the guys. From David in Dublin,Ireland.
I saw them last night at River City Rockfest in San Antonio and when they played this song it was unbelievable.... that double bass sounded amazing live
This is what I'm looking for in a good cover. Doing the song justice while the band stays true to their own style of music. Even better, it's Disturbed doing it, which leads to f***ing win. :D
Do not like Disturbed, but I am love U2, and i respect this cover. Its very good. And it shows how music and certain songs, lyrics can mean SO many different things to SO many different people. Lets leave it at that.
wow, i hope the next album has more songs like this one, dont take me wrong, i love disturbeds sick twisted music like violent fetish and voices but this brings fourth a whole new side of the band! and they sure make it great :D i NEVER EVER thought the band would make songs like this.. MORE PLEASE
Love how everyone keeps bitching about disturbed doing covers. Didn't their genesis/Phil Collins cover have more views than the original? Metallica said their cover of fade to black was one of the best they've seen, that's two great covers. This song might not be their style but is still a damn good cover.
unlike most covers its not some clone of the song, this version has a very different tone than the original and still fits in with disturbed's usual music, in this case i prefer the original but this is very well done
When I bought the asylum album. The songs that are listed there only said 12 songs in it but they failed to put this on there. So I was shocked that there was 13 songs in that album. I'm glad I listened to that whole album from start to end.
I love all these cover songs you guys have been doing! You're killin it! If you're open to suggestions, Bob Dylan's song, "The Ballad of Hollis Brown" (the Gaslight two version is the complete song) is a song that I think that you guys could resurrect! The message that this song conveys is still applicable today. If you haven't heard it, give it a listen!
I hear the first few notes and break bones, blood gushing, fingers flying to break whatever device that irritating song is coming out of......... until I hear that wickedly chilling voice of the Hot singer of Disturbed. Love love love it!
@PirateHunterX2 secret song...you gotta let the cd play for a bit until the end of the last song and its only on the deluxe edition with the documentary
Love U2, this version is ok, love the shout version, yet they should do "Don't pay the Ferryman" or the twighlight zone by golden Earring... love Disturbed!
This song is very fitting for David and the rest of the band. They again, have done a cover that is better than the original. Listen to it a few times, it'll getcha!
@BigO161107 I think that its perfectly okay to download a band's music... if you DO eventually buy an album from them rather than downloadin the whole thing and never supporting them. but I wont lie, I had about 30 Anthrax songs before I finally bought an album.. downloading is a great way to get to know a band
To everyone going on about U2 sucking, or religious connotations of the song: Disturbed play music that they like, not what you like. If you like it too, cool. If not, listen to something else. At the end of the day they clearly love and respect this song, so stop dissing its origins and meaning and enjoy it.
wow im not a huge fan of disturbed but i love the u2 song and this is really good and they really pulled it off i almost like it more since this is more my type of music
its not like they turned it into something completely different and unrecognizable. It all depends on taste. But i love this cover and to me its one of my favorites.
His point is directed at the poster he replied to - they said "U2 suks" and he replied that this wouldn't exist without U2. His point being that he is contradicting himself by saying "U2 suks" and then saying "this is good shit" since U2 wrote it. Hope this clears it up for you. kthxbye
Kind of late to this dance party but must comment. I'm a huge fan of classic U2 and this is one of my favorite songs. I do love David Draiman's vocals that are better than Bono's but miss the signature sound of The Edge.
12 years since this... How have I not discovered this until today?!
Cause you’re a gay
I have always said, " If you are going to have the audacity to cover a great song, You had better make it your own, and do it better than the original. Disturbed Nails it every time. That's a different kind of talent.
They didn't make it better. The made it incredibly cheesy.
@@Mark-eg2yd nah its energy feels very in step with the original while adding a bit of their own spin to it.
People need to understand one thing....artists who do covers are not trying to "top" the original, or claim that one version is better than the other. Disturbingly awesome🤟👏👊
i love how covers by Disturbed are always awesome!!!
Disturbed is a great band. And I personally think that the fact that they can cover the songs they have shows skill and range of influence rarely seen these days. Rock on peoples!!
I love that they aren't just doing what amounts to a copy. They're put their own spin on it while showing their love for it.
WAY better than the original!
I love U2 and Disturbed, but I did NOT expect a cover like this.
Amazing!
Disturbed is a hell of a band & It's is one of many of my favorite remakes that they have done 🤘🙂💜.
I clicked this thinking 'how the hell are they gonna sing this?'
but its pretty good
It's awesome! I agree
Love Disturbed.
The riff for the solo is class
I mean they are amazing live in concert and doing covers i love the sound of silence
same haha
Love David Draiman's voice. So amazing! Amazing cover as always. Disturbed is soooooo incredible. My FAVORITE band of all time 😍😘👩
He's got an amazing voice hasn't he?
He could sing a lullaby and it would be awesome!
Yeah i guess his indestructible 😎
Just chill out to this music, nobody cares if U2 is better, we came here to listen to this.
David D.'s voice-- can't get enough!
He could sing Mary had a little lamb and I'd be in... 😊❤️😎
David's voice for this is perfect.
All 7 cover songs are so hauntingly Disturbed...
David Dramin has an exceptional voice..
I only counted 5 that were on albums maybe I’m forgetting some. Help me out man
@@jessegriffey2897 midnight crisis, land of confusion, shout, sound of silence, fade to black, living after midnight, ishfwilf
I love the pulse, the drums and the bass!
This cover gives the song new dimension, different emotion. I liked it, good riffs!
Omg I loveit I just now heard it amazing good job David and the band
i like how they took on something different. its the proof that there musicians not just a metal band
Metal bands are also musicians IMO.
I like his covers
I think this is a great cover. It''s not about sounding like the original. They're not U2 and they're not trying to be U2. It's about putting your own mark on the song, which I think they've done perfectly. Thumbs up!
Amazing job singer cover u two
What a great cover, I love Disturbed!
this is pretty good... while I LOVE the Edges playing, this is refreshingly different... props to disturbed for not being "trapped" in their genre...
Great cover.
Who could have imagined this cover? Amazing!!
they deserve pure respect just for fucking doing this. holy shit. when i heard they covered
this i raced here thinking “what the FUCK is that gonna sound like” and i wasn’t disappointed at all.

My friend listens to this cover song. It's so surprisingly good for a band like this to do a cover of a song like this
I f’ing HATED this song until 5 mins ago! AWESOME!!!!
Omfg this is amazing
Can't believe they covered U2...freaking awesome.

Their not idiots? It's just their opinions. And I like Disturb, but this cover is not very good!

@@enuffsaid7310 yea maybe I shouldn't say idiot's & I understand differences of opinions but I do think some just say it to hate for no reason.
another great cover by a great band. I loved their 1st two and I love this one too 5/5.
I love David's voice!
Oscar, all a matter of opinion. I think this version is a billion times better then the U2 version
Very good version of this song .A real surprise these guys can really play. The drums are top class ,plus the rest of the guys. From David in Dublin,Ireland.
Doesn't surprise me a bit at how good of a job they did. This is a really talented band
I saw them last night at River City Rockfest in San Antonio and when they played this song it was unbelievable.... that double bass sounded amazing live
I never knew they even did this. I am very impressed

Such a amazing job 👍
my fav U2 song by my fav metal band, i do say epic
33 seconds in and i gotta run to itunes to buy this song
Do not like Disturbed, but I am love U2, and i respect this cover. Its very good. And it shows how music and certain songs, lyrics can mean SO many different things to SO many different people. Lets leave it at that.
Sing2 Scarlett is gonna nail it! But Disturbed did a great job too ofcourse 👏 👍 😉
This actually isn't too bad. Better than other U2 covers I've heard.
I'm a huge U2 fan, I was really scared of this and really glad that it's not bad at all
Very good lyrics, awesome voice.
wow, i hope the next album has more songs like this one, dont take me wrong, i love disturbeds sick twisted music like violent fetish and voices but this brings fourth a whole new side of the band! and they sure make it great :D

dude best cover of this song ever I love

Metallica said their cover of fade to black was one of the best they've seen, that's two great covers. This song might not be their style but is still a damn good cover.
and Art Garfunkel heard their cover of Sound of Silence and said it was their song now...
A band doing a cover is a sign of respect.
People just like to bitch and complain.. It doesn't make them right... Music is subjective.. Like it carry-on don't like it move on.. Pretty simple
@Richard Harrold 😂
This cover is awesome!!
Wow! this is the most Awesome Version ever.
This is an incredible cover. Wow

Excellent. As always
*David:* "Hey, i wanna cover a song about my hairstyle"
I was the same way… super impressed!!
Kick ass
Awesome, but i cant deny, the original has the touch that only they and disturbed cannot give ^^ but Disturbed do awesome covers =D

Awesome cover
Love this song
Great Cover !!
Disturbed made it a whole lot better, though. There is such thing as "better than the original."
Fantastic!!
love this song original, and this remake they did a good job
I hear the first few notes and break bones, blood gushing, fingers flying to break whatever device that irritating song is coming out of......... until I hear that wickedly chilling voice of the Hot singer of Disturbed. Love love love it!
Check out their cover of Sound of Silence.
Better than the original IMO
SOo much better than the original :D WOOT WOOT
I JUST discovered Sounds of Silence like two weeks ago and CAN'T stop listening to it!!
Disturbed Sound of Silence will in 20 years be the definitive version of the song.
All their covers rock! Haven't heard a bad one yet
2:16 -Epic.
@PirateHunterX2 secret song...you gotta let the cd play for a bit until the end of the last song and its only on the deluxe edition with the documentary
Interesting cover. It has the feel of an 1980's hair metal power ballad (i.e. Poison).
Good stuff!
i like this way way better than the original. i was bummed when i saw this on the album but upon listening....damn it's good
I like this better then the U2 version
Yeah no shit.
Love U2, this version is ok, love the shout version, yet they should do "Don't pay the Ferryman" or the twighlight zone by golden Earring... love Disturbed!
Veryyy nice coverrrr.....
Amazing.

Kinda scared me with this one, but dang, good job!
@Oshaien AMEN finally there are some people who are willing to put this
both versions are beast: hard core version and the original
Wonder if U2 do cover of Memories? 😅

This just reuined a U2 classic, well done
@Jumbo0225 vocally it's not bad but musically it just does'nt cut it.
Can I put in my request of songs I’d like them to cover?
@Grumpy2004 I just bought it at Target 2 hours ago and it's great, but it doesn't come with this... ='(
its not like they turned it into something completely different and unrecognizable. It all depends on taste. But i love this cover and to me its one of my favorites.
