Your choice of phone shouldn't make this video any less enjoyable to watch. It's also a quality review that may give you the information needed to help a friend or family member select a phone.
@Damian Antonelli oh totally agree that her reviews are top notch. As for my family and friends giving them the information isn't necessary. All I have to do is "share"video and they can watch for themselves. There are only 4 people in my entire family of aunts, uncles, siblings have an apple watch. It doesn't take long to hit the share button to send it to them. I've been watching her videos for years. She is always honest about how she feels. Gives the pros and cons of a product. Plus she covers a long range of products. It just doesn't mean I have to watch all of them or learn about them. Though I do refer her videos often to people.
Your SE2 also has wireless charging. If you like small phones, the 12 mini or 13 mini is a better deal. It’s smaller in the hand yet has less wasted bezels - a much nicer OLED screen, 5G, A14, better cameras - I’d take a 12 mini over a SE3 if I was already coming from a SE 2 (13 mini for the best battery if you have the cash)
I guess it's a sign of the times but mobile phone reviews focus on the camera and gaming with not a single word about how it performs as a phone. I'm looking for a phone that connects with hearing aids and produces excellent sound quality. Apparently I'm in the minority.
One odd, but welcome, thing I found with this new iPhone SE 3 is that it works fine with my MagSafe charger and has some magnetic connection. Not enough to hold when lifted, but enough to know you've achieved a positive connection to the charger. There must be some type of small magnet in the phone, even though not proper MagSafe. Of course, it also charges fine with any Qi wireless charger.
I'm keeping with my iPhone 8 Plus as long as I can. I still love the media-friendly, notch-free 16:9 screen and as one of the 10% who can't use OLED screens due to PWM, I may look at this SE in a year or two.
Good video…. I just switched from a 12 Pro Max to a 2022 SE. These days I just need my phone to be a phone, and occasionally a camera. I have other devices if I need a bigger screen or the internet.
I know they're trying to save costs by reusing the iPhone 8's design, but I wonder if they could have made the SE 3 (or maybe now the 4) slightly more modern and shrunken down the bezels/chin a bit. Somehow try to reuse the screens but maybe instead of the touch ID being an entire circle, cut it in half or just a slim rectangle in the middle (taking the two circular ends off) and still using it as a touch button. Also, a slightly bigger battery but not enough to change the design, so the phone at least lasts all day for modern users. (I know that's not their primary target audience for this phone.)
Looking forward to seeing you do some case reviews for this, since it’s identical to my iPhone 8. One would hope that because this phone is being made new, that they would be a Mophie Juice pack air around in some local stores but I haven’t seen one in about a year and a half. So hopefully. I will probably get this S E3 in about a year if my iPhone 8 drastically slows down which I hope it doesn’t because I have a new battery in it I found iWorld for the price in Canada and it is C$569 and a whopping $110 more if you want 128 GB!!! This is interesting because it’s only $50 increments for the US model and price going up a storage segment, but still worth it I think
I still think that Apple should at least made 128GB as the base storage option. 64GB might be sufficient for some (including me) but if you want to use this phone for more than 2 years, it won't cut it except you keep subscribed to iCloud/any cloud storage services
They can keep oled I’m sick and tired of hearing about oled iPhones that was a dumb move by apple cause they have bad issues with burn in so I stay away from them nowadays cause my Samsung galaxy A51 5g got burn in within a year of having it, a $500 phone when it came out too. Not happy about that. So this iPhone not having oled is a god send to me and the 256 gb option of storage compared to my A51’s 128 is better as well. I was gonna get a iPhone 11 for the bigger screen but with a A13 chip to Se 3’s A15 it was a no brainer which one to get and the fact you can’t get 256 gb storage with a regular iPhone 11 so I got a red SE 3 instead. I like it’s lcd not oled. Won’t have to worry about burn in at least like you do with oled and not lcd as much.
in 2024 still starts $4xx from Apple Store. great for small hands and small pockets. 16-neural A15 bionic. USA messed up implementation of mmWave, unlike elsewhere, so no loss.
Most reviews are for the enthusiasts, some say for gadgeteers that prioritize performance and neweness over practicality. But there are millions that need communication, access tot news and ocazional din and memories. So, instead of comparing to iPhone 13 mini it would be better to compare to SE lineup. That will make more sense..
" .....folks who need a pocketable general use phone ....." Yep that's exactly what I want. Fancy hi-tech screens are no use to me with my aging eyes and I prefer the Home button. Plus being an iPhone it ensures I have compatibility with the rest of my Apple-centric family.
Lisa, you lied to me! The 2022 iPhone SE doe’s indeed support wireless Qi charging. It does not support apples MagSafe. Lol I think this is the first slip up I’ve caught in the many years I’ve watched your channel :) keep up the awesome work!
Watching this on a red iPhone 11. If I didn’t have the iPhone 11, it would have been the iPhone SE 2020. Red of course. I would still recommend the 2020 edition over 2022. $429 still a hefty price for most consumers.
Hey Lisa thanks for the good review… One thing to remember about the SE line it drops in price way quicker than any of the other iPhones the iPhone SE two dropped like 43% in used market compare to like say the iPhone 11 . That’s not the same isn’t a good little phone I’m just pointing out something that’s different about this iPhone compared to other iPhones I had the SE two is really good phone but the resale value used wasn’t very good but if you plan on keeping this phone a long time I guess it won’t really matter.
I read an article and completely agree that it is a great replacement for iPod touch. It is a little big, especially for women since clothes do not have a big pocket. 64Gb is enough if your music is MP3 or you stream. So certainly, it is iPod touch killer . You do not need to insert a SIM. But if you still want to then I have a spare one.
Thanks for dialling back the rhetoric and calling it a retro design. My sister chose the phone with the button. Seems like Apple knows more about selling phones than those other YT reviewers.
That’s the phone I have. Not the new one, it’s so hard to see on. It’s too tiny. It is so much faster than my old phone but my 33 year old eyes struggle with it lol
Who is it for? No one, honestly. -Retro enthusiast should get SE 2020 for $100-150 less. -Normal people should get 12 mini for $50-100 more. -And of course Android has a lot of better options at that price.
I ordered one. I have an android but have a macbook for school and would like to swop photos easier between devices. I ordered it, because I got a 50% discount on it. I do not like to spend a lot of money on a fancy phone that has features I don't need or care about - I prefer to spend my money elsewhere-just personal preference. The only thing I'll probably going to miss is my large screen.
I've got a 2nd gen SE (same body) and I swear to god it's the most slippery non-wet object I've ever encountered in my life. Also the first phone I've cracked the glass on... because it slipped; go figure.
Same here kind of sad that there's no going back to the old iphone se body (was hoping for having that kind of footprint with a bezel less screen, but then that's too much to ask for an SE line)
16:9 aspect ratio is so underrated. It's the shape of video and pictures. I think companies will start going back closer to it from the 20:9 ratio Samsung start in 2019.
Nope. For scrollable content like websites, email, Instagram, Facebook, the taller ratio is better because you can see more, especially when the keyboard pops up. It also stops camera holes covering video content. I can't see this changing much.
@@riaz8783 Samsung already started to. The S22 line has a 19.3:9 aspect ration. The idea of "more screen real estate" by having a taller screen is a lie Samsung manufactured. A 6.7 inch screen in 20:9 gives you less square inches than a 6.7 inch phone in 16:9. It's like saying a mobile home is bigger than most homes because they are longer than most.
@@riaz8783 Samsung went to the 20:9 in 2019 so they could slap a bigger number on the "screen size" without actually offering more. Tech people like MKBHD ate up the talking points because they know the premium phones of the world equal more views and clicks. iPhones are the best selling phone models in the world and they have retained a 19.5:9 since the xs/xr. Apple knows they don't need to be longer. And if you don't factor in the area around the the bezel the iPhone Pro Max it's probably closer to 18:9. Which is perfect because it give you a 16:9 screen with the notifications, camera hole punch/bezel, and navigation bar out of the way.

It is beyond m how in the world this praise on the screen is possible. It is not even 1080p and that in 2022. LCD with bad viewing angles. Every 300€/$ phone with AMOLED can beat it hands down and gives you even 120 Hz or at least 90 Hz refresh rate. Besides the powerful processor it is the exact same hardware from 2 years ago and even 2 years ago it was outdated. So objectively it is one of the worst price per performance ratio ever. You get basically 90% at least 2+ years old hardware that has almost nothing for its goind besides the compact design. But in all honestyl a 12 Mini for roughly the same price is a way way better device if it needs to be Apple
Fantastic device. LCD is fine if you do not like PWM in OLED. 60Hz on a 4 inch display is sensible. One camera, for some that may be one too many! Bezels, who cares, that is really superficial. Analysts suggest 30 million will be sold in the next year; already sold out as Apple only expected 17 million. I have ordered two for family and will get one for myself. I use as a second phone so battery life is not important and 64GB is way more than I need. Great for times when I do not want to carry a phablet.
@@andyH_England damn you really like to settle for less... If you look at most andriod budget phones they offer more and sometimes for even less than what apple is calling for this. Loving your shirt. Sorry I'm going to skip this video since my Samsung Ultra 22 is coming this week.
Great review as always! I have the 2020 SE. I don’t like large phones so that’s why I stick with the SE model. Does the SE3 have wireless charging?
Yes. Qi wireless charging, but not magsafe wireless charging
@@User-cb4jm thank you for the information!
@@franklingoodwin thank you!
Magsafe is a proof apple customers are really dumb.
Thank you for another great review 👍
Thanks for a great practical review.
Lisa, thanks for the great review. The 2022 iPhone SE 3rd Generation might turn out to be my 1st iPhone.
Is this phone good for normal browsing, youtube and little bit of gaming ?
I know they're trying to save costs by reusing the iPhone 8's design, but I wonder if they could have made the SE 3 (or maybe now the 4) slightly more modern and shrunken down the bezels/chin a bit. Somehow try to reuse the screens but maybe instead of the touch ID being an entire circle, cut it in half or just a slim rectangle in the middle (taking the two circular ends off) and still using it as a touch button. Also, a slightly bigger battery but not enough to change the design, so the phone at least lasts all day for modern users. (I know that's not their primary target audience for this phone.)
I like retro phone. 😎👍👍
Ordered one yesterday 🙂 My first ever iPhone 😃 in red
Mine 2
Looking forward to seeing you do some case reviews for this, since it’s identical to my iPhone 8. One would hope that because this phone is being made new, that they would be a Mophie Juice pack air around in some local stores but I haven’t seen one in about a year and a half. So hopefully.
I will probably get this S E3 in about a year if my iPhone 8 drastically slows down which I hope it doesn’t because I have a new battery in it
I found iWorld for the price in Canada and it is C$569 and a whopping $110 more if you want 128 GB!!!
Great review as always, Lisa. This appeals to me because I use my phone as a phone and my iPad for everything else, so the smaller, the better.
in 2024 still starts $4xx from Apple Store. great for small hands and small pockets. 16-neural A15 bionic. USA messed up implementation of mmWave, unlike elsewhere, so no loss.
Thanks for your review. Blessings on your day!
Is it waterproof?
Thanks for not bashing the old design it’s what inside that counts
Mam your video is amazing and Attractive reviews Thank you so much for review I am your biggest fan mam 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I wish they would have went with the 5.5” 8 plus shell instead of 4.7”. That would have been great
That would push the price up to iphone mini. The iPhone mini will become the new iPhone SE in 2024.
LOL, I hope Tim will thank you for your loyalty and for supporting their shareholders.
I’m trying to get my aunt to upgrade her old SE. she is still using the SE from 2016, she really doesn’t want to upgrade but her phone is slow.
Great video as always
I was waiting for "itsy bitsy, teeny weeny, very thin and light machiney." Love the review, as always!
I have the original SE, the battery currently last 30min. I have given up and ordered the Iphone 13.
:). By the way I love your channel.
Fantastic review, thank you. +1
Lisa, you lied to me! The 2022 iPhone SE doe’s indeed support wireless Qi charging. It does not support apples MagSafe. Lol I think this is the first slip up I’ve caught in the many years I’ve watched your channel :) keep up the awesome work!
More like iPhone Savers Edition. Awesome review!
Fantastic phone and battery life. Two months in.
is it made of glass at the back?
Watching this on a red iPhone 11. If I didn’t have the iPhone 11, it would have been the iPhone SE 2020. Red of course. I would still recommend the 2020 edition over 2022. $429 still a hefty price for most consumers.
Actually, the SE 2022 is the same or obviously better than SE 2020
@@Goaltimer 2020 can be had for half the price though
Love your videos, you are suuuuper
Love mine. I’m old school. Love the finger censor
it cost 4 month working in iran, Does it worth?
You’re wrong it does has wireless charging it doesn’t have MagSafe however
Perfect for my mum
Thanks for the post. I wish my brain worked as good as yours.
Is the battery life better than the SE 2020 Lisa?
Of course!
excellent review
What about the lack of a headphone jack for the typical iPod user?
@@DauntlessDamian It makes sense, although most people listen to music using airpods.
Thanks for dialling back the rhetoric and calling it a retro design. My sister chose the phone with the button. Seems like Apple knows more about selling phones than those other YT reviewers.
Cool t-shirt 👍🏽
Very good video!
6:28 Correction: YES, There IS wireless chareger in it.
Yes you are right J N. Good stuff 👍

I love that shirt!
- Thank you.
love the t-shirt
That’s the phone I have. Not the new one, it’s so hard to see on. It’s too tiny. It is so much faster than my old phone but my 33 year old eyes struggle with it lol
Hey Lisa, I thought this phone had Qi wireless charging, just not MagSafe; didn't the 2020 SE have Qi wireless charging?
It should. Just not the MagSafe features.
It does, just not MagSafe. Every iPhone since the 8 including the SE 2 has it.
Thank you, ma'am
I've got a 2nd gen SE (same body) and I swear to god it's the most slippery non-wet object I've ever encountered in my life. Also the first phone I've cracked the glass on... because it slipped; go figure.
I’m enjoying mine
Same here kind of sad that there's no going back to the old iphone se body (was hoping for having that kind of footprint with a bezel less screen, but then that's too much to ask for an SE line)
16:9 aspect ratio is so underrated. It's the shape of video and pictures. I think companies will start going back closer to it from the 20:9 ratio Samsung start in 2019.
i miss 16:9 so much. my hands still arent adjust to this new bs. s9+ was peak android except for the glass on glass
Nope. For scrollable content like websites, email, Instagram, Facebook, the taller ratio is better because you can see more, especially when the keyboard pops up. It also stops camera holes covering video content. I can't see this changing much.
@@riaz8783 nope it helps nothing. also a little bezel is a good thing
Which is perfect because it give you a 16:9 screen with the notifications, camera hole punch/bezel, and navigation bar out of the way.
wow you guys must be getting paid huge for all the reviews of high end products.......this is one of the only mid range products you have reviewed in a yr. you didnt even do the pixel 6a or the apple watch se or the mac mini etc
My se2 has wireless charging. Unless they removed that feature the se3 has it too. Did they improve the battery life?
She clarified she made a mistake, it has Qi wireless charging but not MagSafe. Battery is improved but still not amazing.
bt=attery is barely improved, iphone SE is shit vs android due to battery life
the screen is too small for my old eyes
I fit that demograph....simple, easy, cheap and it work;s! Thank"s to you, it's SOLD! To "Old Guy" who has subscribed to your channel because...I'm an old dog learning new trick's!
That bezel is a sin.
It is.
Not for everyone though. I'd take the bezels over the notch and hole punch any day.
Great T-Shirt. Smart line "I wear this shirt periodically"😅
This phone is epic.
It does have wireless charging it just doesn’t have MagSafe
Hd lcd display, 60hz,only one camera and bezels larger than Africa:looks like a bargain! 😂
But people going to argue that it has the m13 chip so its the "most powerful phone" or that the single camera is the best for the price.
The poco phone for example, sure u are not getting no A13chip, but most people who use smartphones will never utilise the full potential of that chip.
@@andyH_England if the cost was 250$,it would be perfectly fine.
