    Correction/clarification: the phone doesn't have MagSafe wireless charging, but it does support Qi wireless charging.

      You did not mention it is easier for the blind to log in to this phone. Face ID being set up by a person who cannot look toward the camera, a finger print ID is a breeze. Also, can you look in to the various phone's accessibility features?

      @@CNormanHocker I agree that Face ID isn’t the best. As somebody who likes the iPhone 13 Pro, Face ID is my main complaint; it never fails to give me many daily false negatives, like we’re in 2015 or something… (Of course, I don’t like Lightning either, but the poor usability of Face ID should have been resolved long ago…)

      @@CNormanHocker I’ve seen several blind people that post videos about technology use iPhones without the home button. You just have to tap the screen to wake up iPhones without a home button; there is more area to be able to tap, instead of having to find the button with your right finger to unlock.

    I had the se2 and it was a fine little phone . I exchanged it for this se3 and there is more power and it has the 5 g . Both are excellent phones and a good size for sticking in your pocket at work! I never cared for cameras on a phone anyway. The old phone wouldnt connect too well this one dies. thank you for your review

    Really enjoyed this review. Clear, short enough, to the point. Appreciate that Apple makes this kinda phones and try to answer to users that still want something small enough, cheap enough and capable enough. The 1 thing I would adjust is the chassis design (I know, it's a big one 😅) to make it less slippery.

      Apple could use a more grippable case but they want it to be slippery so you drop it then either buy a new screen or new phone

    I upgraded to this phone from an iPhone 6 because it is the last phone made with fingerprint ID. I absolutely despise face recognition and would rather do without a phone if I had to get one of those. The newer SE is not much different than the 6 I had but at least I know it won’t go out of date on updates.

      My thoughts, too. Just bought it. Wondering what you think about the feel of the Touch ID. I find it much "sloppier" than the 6 - there's some play and even a clicking. I stopped by Apple store and the model there felt the same and the fellow said it's because of a new, better, way they do the Touch ID. Personally, I prefer the more solid feel of the 6 but, whatever.

      The reason they sell more is that many US business want iPhones as business phones (for some weird reason) but want it as cheap as possible so for them the $100 more for last years mini is too much. For consumers SE at this price kn 2022 is a bad deal, in 2020 it was still ok.

      @@madeleine67 I replaced my 2020 SE for a 13 mini. The main thing I missed in the 2020 SE was battery life, and that is why I upgraded. I hear that battery life is improved in the 2022 SE, and that's a good thing. The camera on the 2020 SE was fine for me, but I do have to admit the camera on the 13 mini is noticeably better. I wouldn't say the SE has a bad camera. It's more like it has a good camera, but there are even better cameras on the more expensive models. Whether the SE is too small is up to you, but it is the same size as a standard-sized iphone 6, 7 or 8, and nobody complained when those phones were new that they were too small, so...

However, after trying Face ID once, I immediately knew it's 100 times better. You can't even compare the two. It’s good that they updated the phone for anybody who doesn’t have the SE2 like you and have a 6/7/8. That said most brands know the largest sellers for most people are large flagship phones with huge screens and batteries (I’m typing on one myself), but it’s good that they cater for everyone by making this phone too for those who want a home button and are lighter phone users.

    I know they're trying to save costs by reusing the iPhone 8's design, but I wonder if they could have made the SE 3 (or maybe now the 4) slightly more modern and shrunken down the bezels/chin a bit. Somehow try to reuse the screens but maybe instead of the touch ID being an entire circle, cut it in half or just a slim rectangle in the middle (taking the two circular ends off) and still using it as a touch button. Also, a slightly bigger battery but not enough to change the design, so the phone at least lasts all day for modern users. (I know that's not their primary target audience for this phone.)

    They can keep oled I’m sick and tired of hearing about oled iPhones that was a dumb move by apple cause they have bad issues with burn in so I stay away from them nowadays cause my Samsung galaxy A51 5g got burn in within a year of having it, a $500 phone when it came out too. Not happy about that. So this iPhone not having oled is a god send to me and the 256 gb option of storage compared to my A51’s 128 is better as well. I was gonna get a iPhone 11 for the bigger screen but with a A13 chip to Se 3’s A15 it was a no brainer which one to get and the fact you can’t get 256 gb storage with a regular iPhone 11 so I got a red SE 3 instead. I like it’s lcd not oled. Won’t have to worry about burn in at least like you do with oled and not lcd as much.

    So, instead of comparing to iPhone 13 mini it would be better to compare to SE lineup. That will make more sense..

    " .....folks who need a pocketable general use phone ....." Yep that's exactly what I want. Fancy hi-tech screens are no use to me with my aging eyes and I prefer the Home button. Plus being an iPhone it ensures I have compatibility with the rest of my Apple-centric family.

    Hey Lisa thanks for the good review… One thing to remember about the SE line it drops in price way quicker than any of the other iPhones the iPhone SE two dropped like 43% in used market compare to like say the iPhone 11 . That’s not the same isn’t a good little phone I’m just pointing out something that’s different about this iPhone compared to other iPhones I had the SE two is really good phone but the resale value used wasn’t very good but if you plan on keeping this phone a long time I guess it won’t really matter.

    I read an article and completely agree that it is a great replacement for iPod touch. It is a little big, especially for women since clothes do not have a big pocket. 64Gb is enough if your music is MP3 or you stream. So certainly, it is iPod touch killer . You do not need to insert a SIM. But if you still want to then I have a spare one.

    16:9 aspect ratio is so underrated. It's the shape of video and pictures. I think companies will start going back closer to it from the 20:9 ratio Samsung start in 2019.

      @riaz8783 2 роки тому

      Nope. For scrollable content like websites, email, Instagram, Facebook, the taller ratio is better because you can see more, especially when the keyboard pops up. It also stops camera holes covering video content. I can't see this changing much.

    • @ElectricC0mpany

      @@riaz8783 Samsung already started to. The S22 line has a 19.3:9 aspect ration. The idea of "more screen real estate" by having a taller screen is a lie Samsung manufactured. A 6.7 inch screen in 20:9 gives you less square inches than a 6.7 inch phone in 16:9. It's like saying a mobile home is bigger than most homes because they are longer than most.

    • @ElectricC0mpany
      @ElectricC0mpany 2 роки тому

      @@riaz8783 Samsung went to the 20:9 in 2019 so they could slap a bigger number on the "screen size" without actually offering more. Tech people like MKBHD ate up the talking points because they know the premium phones of the world equal more views and clicks. iPhones are the best selling phone models in the world and they have retained a 19.5:9 since the xs/xr. Apple knows they don't need to be longer. And if you don't factor in the area around the the bezel the iPhone Pro Max it's probably closer to 18:9. Which is perfect because it give you a 16:9 screen with the notifications, camera hole punch/bezel, and navigation bar out of the way.

    It is beyond m how in the world this praise on the screen is possible. It is not even 1080p and that in 2022. LCD with bad viewing angles. Every 300€/$ phone with AMOLED can beat it hands down and gives you even 120 Hz or at least 90 Hz refresh rate. Besides the powerful processor it is the exact same hardware from 2 years ago and even 2 years ago it was outdated.
    So objectively it is one of the worst price per performance ratio ever. You get basically 90% at least 2+ years old hardware that has almost nothing for its goind besides the compact design. But in all honestyl a 12 Mini for roughly the same price is a way way better device if it needs to be Apple

      Fantastic device. LCD is fine if you do not like PWM in OLED. 60Hz on a 4 inch display is sensible. One camera, for some that may be one too many! Bezels, who cares, that is really superficial. Analysts suggest 30 million will be sold in the next year; already sold out as Apple only expected 17 million. I have ordered two for family and will get one for myself. I use as a second phone so battery life is not important and 64GB is way more than I need. Great for times when I do not want to carry a phablet.
