Been using the WXA-50 for 5 months now with 3020i and yesterday for the first time I noticed that the amp is sending out a very mild but noticeable static noise on the speakers when AUX is selected. Does your unit do the same? Is this supposed to happen?
Hello! Thanks for the short review. You used some interesting music samples. I would like to know, what song do you played at timestamp 7:48. Thank you very much.
@@FrancescoScinico The vintage receivers had loudness knobs, they basically boost highs and lows leaving mids behind. It used to be the "knob that makes it sound good" because of how humans perceive boosted lows and highs.
Can I plug the TV through an optical cable, then plug an exit optical cable to a random sound bar (NO MUSICCAST), and join some musiccast speakers such WX-03 or the last Musiccast 50? I would like to know if they can sound combined, like a real surround system! thanks
Grzegorz Bacik you need a pre-amp with pre out to your powered monitors. the Yamaha has line out so you will need to use the gain knob on the jbl to adjust volume individually which you will it want to do
yes, it will read files off network but I find the interface not really user friendly as it basically navigate through folder structures and doesn't read any media metadata
Yes, these were noticeably more powerful than the d3020 when connected to the B&W 600S3 which had a sensitivity of 88db. Most modern speakers have sensitivity in the 80's which should work fine. Obviously if you have more sensitive speakers they will go louder but remember, louder doesn't equate to better sound quality. Hope this helps
They are comparable but I 'feel' the D3020 sounds a bit thin compared to the fuller Yamaha sound, especially at low volume. You shouldn't have to crank the amp pass 50% to enjoy the music. On my other integrated tube amp, the volume stays around 25%. I would definitely add a sub to either setup to complete the system.
Thank you for the review 'Honest Feedback'. I'm planning to purchase the WXA-50 to power my B&W 805's and have it connected via Bluetooth to a iMac to stream iTunes and from the NAS. I haven't purchase the WXA-50 yet but I'm also hoping to use my setup as surround when connected to the iMac. BTW. What is the name of the song with piano?
The B&W 805s are nice speakers but depending on your listening volume you may want more power to bring out the 'magic' of these speakers. The minimum power for the 805 is 50 W while the WXA-50 outputs 55 W @ 8ohms.The piano music is Book Bag by E's Jammy Jams. Thanks for watching and happy listening.
Hi there, thanks for review, now I want to buy the same) Few questions: 1) Can I plug my headphones 3.5mm jack to this amplifier? I saw few AUX out there but not sure how to use them 2) Can I play directly from my phone/PC? As far as I understand I can use only this Yamaha app and can't do it directly from some audio player? 3) If I use USB stick can I create few different playlists on it? 4) how is wifi works? Is is work like access point or it is connect to the router?
1) No, there are NO headphone 3.5 mm jack. The outputs are Speaker (2-channel), analog aux. out, 12 V trigger, subwoofer2) Yes, you can play music directly from your phone via the Yamaha app or any other app (via bluetooth)3) I haven't tried playlist, just mp3 directly on the USB stick and use random mode4) Wifi needs to connect to a network (ie. router, access point etc)

How do you find the volume? I find my running it at almost max volume all the time, which is not what I was expecting given the specs. I do have a refurbished unit so I wonder if that is the problem. Compared to my old amp, a Topping TP22, this should have bags more volume, but I get a similar volume from the topping at half its maximum volume level.
Volume seems fine for me. I do have to turn it up higher than my other 200+ W amp but that's expected. The Topping TP22 is only ~15W @ 8 ohm while the Yamaha WXA-50 is 55W @ 8 ohm so this shouldn't be the case. If you are using the same input / speaker / cable, then you may want to contact Yamaha for warranty service.
The aux out can be connected into a amplifier with pre-in.The indicator will go from green, white, pink, amber and of course, BLUE depending on the mode the unit is in.
Lex Von Ghoul yes, you can play music from your PC or iPod. In my video I used an USB DAC from a PC but you could simply use the analog output from PC into line in of the Yamaha
Too small and weak to drive proper speakers. I had the Bluesound Powernode 2i in mind first but even that turned out too weak although the reviews are five star right across the board. Guess you can't deny the laws of physics no matter how much you want to. Seems there's no away around a larger conventional stereo amplifier to get the best out of any speaker really. I was hoping I could get away with compact streamers but we are not there yet as it seems.
Do you mean as in double setup? I haven't really thought of that as an option cause the total result would be colored by the first amp. But I can look into that , I've also seen some traditional stereo amplifiers with streaming capabilities coming to the market now. I think the industry has spotted the need to cater to more than just the run-of-the-mill consumers. @@honestfeedback5275
Moon have a great all-in-one for you, 50watts at 8ohm, but with huge transformer and caps; where the real power comes from. One 50watts is not the same as the other....it all comes down to the powersupply and they do not tell you that.
K H convenience cost money . Small form factor is ideal for office , bedroom/dorm setup. Most moderate listening will not need more than 55w per channel. For HT use, I run my pro amp which has plenty of power
@@alex1up599 or just buy the wxc model if you intend to drive your speakers with an external amp and just need a musiccast connection. The wxa is a nice system for bookcase speakers and I've seen it sold for serious discounts so it's often great value for money.

Hey great video. I just came across this review. I was wondering would still recommend it.

Does the app show list of songs available on the USB stick?
hello, can you use amazon music in this yamaha?
will this be good for motion 20 martin logan?
Just some additional points: EQ at Auto activates the famous Yamaha Loudness setting..
Famous in a good way? Why is it famous?

Ose Enerby yes, just turn the volume down on the Yamaha
Outstanding review! Is the optical cable connected to your TV or something else?

How's the bass quality ? 🤔

I’m wondering about this too!
There is an optical input. You cant plug soundbar through optical cable..
To select the songs from the USB, the phone app is needed.
Which speakers would you recommend for this amp - Dali Spektor 2 or Q ACOUSTICS Q 3020i or PSB Alpha P5 or Polk Audio S15e. Thank you
Q Acoustics!
@@honestfeedback5275 How about 3030i? I already own the speakers and i'm a bit lost on what would work with them.

Yes you can absolutely run your Jbl 590 from this amp. Just connect the speaker wire from this unit to the back of your speakers.

If you have the amplifier sideways does the music come out of the speakers sideways 🤔

hello bro, im interested on these yamaha, can you tell me wich speakers could be good with these amp yamaha for a bedroom use? thanks a lot
jorge fernandez these out our 50 watts at 8ohm so you should be fine with most bookshelves. I would want more power if you are running towers.

TP 22 is a legend
Will it auto turn on if I connect via airplay?
You have to turn on the unit via the remote or app first
USB work with Bose companion 5 ?
I don't think so. USB drive or USB power out
Does the aux act as a pre?
And is the left diod changing color?
if i play from the network 1 green and 2 yellow ?
I hate blue diods :)

I believe it will work well with the KEF. Take your speakers to the store with you and have a demo.

He literally explained this at the start. B&W 601 S3
Can i use external HDD in the USB port?
The usb only dilivers 0.5Amps which is not enough for most extHDD's. HDD with their own powersuply will work though.
55 watts though. I got to have cat least closed to 100 watts per channel.
its only 3 decibels difference between 50 and 100 watts. 55 watts might sound little but it will power most speakers to a very loud level.
For bookshelves this is fine to be honest
