I always use normal color on my DJI because I hate color grading. The DJI Mic 2 is great and I also use the DJI wrist remote to get the GPS data. The camera, remote, and mic automatically sync up every time after the initial setup. No complaints at all with the Action 4.
next month there will probably be a premiere of a new DJ, but this is the best review because it notices details that I noticed and no one paid attention to before.
I have a GoPro hero 9 black; Yesterday I was shooting a video of me using my simracing setup and the low light horrible so I started looking into upgrading. all I'm seen is Professionals,Consumers going with DJI Action 4 over GoPro. My respect for doing a great comparison video, you and some other UA-camrs lean me towards the DJI Action 4.
What a great thorough review. I have both of these cameras. Action 4 wins hands down in every category. Let's also talk user experience. Action 4. Menu responds faster and it's also easier and quicker to navigate
my first action camera, I've ordered the DJI. I've watched a few reviews and people really like the speed of the device, no overheating, longer battery life and the magnetic mounting system. Gonna use it mainly for some karting clips but can't wait to try it out.
I was thinking of getting a gopro hero 12 for Christmas this year to catpure my riding but after this video im also leaning towards the Osmo 4 I will probably get one if available in Australia thanks for another awesome video!
Swapped my gopro hero 10 for the dji as i could not cope with the bugs on the gopro. The user experience is sooo much better on the dji. Everything works as it should. Been using it only for a day love it
lol go pro has way better stabilization than dji 😂 guarantee you you didn’t have the settings right this is a known fact that go pro does stabilization and picture quality better than dji everything else dji is great aside from those two things
Did you set the GoPro on high bit rate? I'm not sure if that was addressed in your video. I found that it affects compression noise. The best settings I've found for low light conditions was 4k30, no stabilization, auto iso, high bit-rate.
I am super happy with the OA4! The magnetic mounting, low light management, steepness rendering, the price and the accessories in the adventure bundle made me chose it! But these are details, I don’t think you can be deceived by either of them.
I like the Osmo better. I find the Gopro color to be more washed out and flat in comparison. The action 4 also seems to have better picture quality and low light capabilities.
The osmo has better picture quality is the most false statement ever say anything else but this like the quick magnetic mount is good but sorry your wrong in the picture quality go pro does 5.3k and when both cameras are in 4k the go bro has better picture quality and colors and also 10 bit if you choose if you don’t like color grading vibrant looks awesome but you still have the option to put color on flat to grade in post dji picture quality is not better

I’ve got the osmo 4 and it’s really good. Only issues I’ve had is the colour and that the magnetic mount does make it hang a few mm lower if it’s mounted under a visor. Anyway, great video!
Dude, I too really like my DJI, but come on, stop being a fanboy... Image quality is still slightly better on the GoPro and overheating is not a thing on the bike, only stationary.
@@piciu256 im not a fanboy, i dont care about dji, but i was using gopro and now dji, overheating is the thing bcs if u use it in hot days gopro starts lagging and overheating. Sometimes i wasnt able to record a 5 min logn video because gopro started to turning off without any reason. About image quality i will not agree, on dji i can see more details (4k 60fps or 2,7k 60fps), HDR now is on spot, and WB is little bit on the cold side but its just personal preference
For me the ease of use and magnetic mount+ smaller size is a winner for the DJI, GoPro technically has better image quality, but the difference is so small, that unless you're literally analysing it enlarged, you really can't tell. There are other small differences, like nicer edge distortion on the DJI and slightly larger FOV, but those are just icing on the cake, as long as the better battery life.
I personally like the GoPro hero 12 as i use it although the magnetic mount is sick on the dji. I use hyperview on my videos and love it shows speed so well, dji looks great as well as long as you don’t switch to the insta 360 haha
Dji wins. Everyone likes the gopro color but thats because gopro appeals to an audience that just points shoots posts. No post editing. But if you want the king of action cams and vlogging go dji
Nice video, thank you! At 11:30, the low light ghosting are artifacts from the noise reduction algorithm. If you turn the noise reduction all the way down, the footage will look better. And on the GoPro, you can mitigate some of the ISO/shutter issues with GoPro Labs settings. But there is no doubt that the OA4 has a superior sensor for low light. It would be amazing if they also added Labs-like features to squeeze out even more data from the sensor.
For vertical shooting with the Gopro you don't even need a case or anything. Just swipe into the screen to vertical shooting and hold your camera as you normal do.
Great Video. I've always had a GoPro, but I sold my GoPro to buy the DJI Action 4. I really liked the camera. However, I miss some features that the GoPro had but the DJI Action doesn't. Like time-lapse photography. The DJI only takes videos. I used to use this feature a lot on the GoPro. I emailed DJI asking if it had this feature and they said it didn't. It's a great camera, but the GoPro has more configuration options.
Yeah Jordan A great comparison between both cameras it’s clear to see that GoPro isn’t the best camera anymore Plus I know what DJI stands for damn just impressive 😂😂
great vid. I don't have any action camera as I don't think anyone cares to see my rides, but with this review I kinda want to buy one. Not because I need one, just it seems to be great products
since you`re always recording at 4k, using the osmo`s ultra wide is a lot better in terms of video quality since it is a lot easier to see where you`re going, it does make it look faster but not having that distortion like the gopro makes it feel less intense
what pissed me off with Action 4, is that they didn't made it compatible with DJI 1 mic, they should have. But everything look better on the A4. Maybe next year or maybe GoPro 13 will finally get a real upgrade and fix all the things that makes them behind for 2-3 years. Tks for the great review!
The ghosting is a result of heavy noise reduction. It's something DJI is extremely bad at, and for some reason they don't allow turning this setting off in even their professional drones. They let you set noise reduction to -2 in camera (?), bbut the -2 is actually still a very heavily noise reduced image. Unfortunately.
I think if you want strait out of cameral no edit and have good lighting then gorpo is still a good option just has that good look to it but the quality of the camera is so much better with dji and i think if you are ok adding some color corrections the footage is technically superior and that stabilization looks way better!
Ha. I've the hero 12, and I like using the media mod so I can use an external mic. Just picked up the DJI Mic 2 and the build quality is supburb. And I have nothing but troubles with the Media Mod. So. The GP12 might be going down the road. and I most likely will be ordering a DJI.
Never been a fan of go pro, actually my first action camera was a replay. Have been using a go pro since image stabilization was added and am kinda locked in to the go pro now due to the app. Does DJI have a similar app?
The DJI may not be as sharp but both are better then the INSTA360 RS one I'm using now. After having issues with mine I started looking at GoPro but something in my guts tells me to stay away from them with the problems my buddies have had.
What is the fix for the ghosting in the low light trees? I really like the DJI and it will likely be my next action cam purchase. My Gopro had a good life.
I believe it's the processing the camera does, might be that playing around with different options will remove this effect. On the older model it was definitely the shutter going too slow combined with HDR mode combining two different images.
I actually can't stand the magnetic mounts, if you lose or forget that separate little clippy mag mount you're totally out of business. Much prefer the integrated flip outs on the Gopro, plus the new 13 has both anyway. I'm no Gopro fanboy but after trying out then sending back both the Action 4 (mega-overheated while charging, failure to correctly recognize brand new hi-end SD cards even after formatting, failure to correctly bind to Pixel 8) and Insta Ace Pro (not bad, but awful battery door and same mount issue as DJI) in the last 2 weeks, I'm back to my old Gopro 9 for awhile longer.
Correction: the battery hub of DJI won’t charge the battery u need to plug it. It not a power bank for the battery. I don’t know why DJI made that for no sense
I know that the GoPro had way more cons and the dji is cheaper but I love the way the GoPro looks in your vids and lots of other peoples. I tend to not like the dji. It’s almost to high quality and it is to warped and stretched and I don’t like the colors. The dji is a lot like the Insta 360 just warped and more stretched.
What about mounting the DJI to a hat? Does it have the standard female thread on the camera, or is there a frame that comes with a certain package? I want to use it for fishing!!
the funniest, there's really no difference between hero 11 and 12, because it's the same camera, just a few added functions that you won't use in the end 😅
I have GoPro Hero 10 Black - my first camera, and looking to move to DJI. Hero 10 Black is horrible! The battery it comes with can't even last 20 minutes
Im looking at reviews like mad just now looking for a first action cam for on my new emtb when out definitely always been towards DJI jsut because im occurred really and don't follow a crowd with go pros but the new X4 and 3S insta360 have took my attention aswell so definitely one of the 3 now gopro was out the window before even started looking really! Heard so much bad stuff about its performance
It is interesting that you view DJI as the smaller company when it is almost 50 times bigger than GoPro in reality. Great comparison video though and I love the channel! Keep up the awesome work.
this is the most biased pick me review i've ever seen lmao, the very starting sequence, if you've watched or owned these camera's or anything similar you could tell right away Camera A was Gopro, it was much smoother and wider and see more of the bike, the stabilization of the osmo is still in it's infancy compared to the 12 generations Gopro has had to work on it, it's easy to tell the osmo as it had slightly more jitter and wasn't as smooth. you complain about the vertical, but they're cropping the sides and giving you the full height of the sensor which eliminates the having the take off the camera, add a cage, mount it sideways and then get your framing right, just keep filming and go, previous gopros had the option to turn the camera sideways just like osmo, now the 12 got rid of that. you complain that Gopro would probably need a new cage and mounting system to get the same vertical as the Osmo even though you literally just added a new cage and mount to the Osmo seconds earlier. not only that but you talk about having extra mounts and accessories for gopro like it's a bad thing then praise Osmo for having extra mounts and accessories. both camera's are good, they're very similar, that distortion you talked about, it has an 8:7 aspect ratio, but it doesn't squeeze the image down to 16:9, it just crops the top and bottom off, same as it does the sides for 9:16 vertical shooting, it allows them to get more space instead of having to rotate the camera in a special case... and when you looked left and right, the Osmo had the same damn distortion, it's not because the Gopro squeezes the image, it's because it's a fisheye lens, super and hyper and ultra wide are 8-14mm it's a circular image distorted by the dome effect, if you got a full frame sony and put a 10mm lens it would have the same effect. I can't believe they gave your uneducated ahh free product to gobble their nutz for 16 minutes.
Would you consider making a colour grading video? Especially with footage taken with, say, GoPros native white balance, as there seems to be no resources available to learn that kind of thing and the GoPro website is annoyingly useless. I definitely plan on getting an osmo action whenever I can as it just seems to be… better. (I did post this same comment earlier but somehow it got deleted by my computer)
He has a video on that subject I believe, Phil Kmetz also does. Look around bro. Plus there are millions of different guides for your particular editing program.
I’m pretty sure Jordan does not, but I might be wrong. I’ll check Phil’s channel. On the subject of guides, I have searched around for hours (and I’m not exaggerating) and found nothing.
It would not appear that Phil films in native WB, and it would not appear that his video on editing has a lot of technical details, which is really what I’m looking for. If you could point me towards a guide on this subject, that would be much appreciated.
@@SSkysTheLLimit that all depends on your particular program, just read about about color grading and see how to do it in your particular program, what kind of footage you're working with is quite irrelevant, it's all about what you want to achieve and understanding how to get there. If you don't have any particular preference, just use the "normal" color profile camera put out and leave it as is. There is no magic formula "set it like this".
I can try this… again it is quite hard to find resources like that and I have spent a lot of time trying. At this point I only really care because I can’t seem to find any way to fix it and it’s bothering me.

this is the most biased pick me review i've ever seen lmao, the very starting sequence, if you've watched or owned these camera's or anything similar you could tell right away Camera A was Gopro, it was much smoother and wider and see more of the bike, the stabilization of the osmo is still in it's infancy compared to the 12 generations Gopro has had to work on it, it's easy to tell the osmo as it had slightly more jitter and wasn't as smooth. you complain about the vertical, but they're cropping the sides and giving you the full height of the sensor which eliminates the having the take off the camera, add a cage, mount it sideways and then get your framing right, just keep filming and go, previous gopros had the option to turn the camera sideways just like osmo, now the 12 got rid of that. you complain that Gopro would probably need a new cage and mounting system to get the same vertical as the Osmo even though you literally just added a new cage and mount to the Osmo seconds earlier. not only that but you talk about having extra mounts and accessories for gopro like it's a bad thing then praise Osmo for having extra mounts and accessories. both camera's are good, they're very similar, that distortion you talked about, it has an 8:7 aspect ratio, but it doesn't squeeze the image down to 16:9, it just crops the top and bottom off, same as it does the sides for 9:16 vertical shooting, it allows them to get more space instead of having to rotate the camera in a special case... and when you looked left and right, the Osmo had the same damn distortion, it's not because the Gopro squeezes the image, it's because it's a fisheye lens, super and hyper and ultra wide are 8-14mm it's a circular image distorted by the dome effect, if you got a full frame sony and put a 10mm lens it would have the same effect.
DJI only because it does not over heat! Heat kills all electronics . . . .
nice video
thanks!
@@JordanBoostmaster I hope you can ride your bikes soon!
