  • Tottenham Hotspurs are a premiership football club that has a dark history of fan violence. Their firm the Yid Army are one of the toughest firms in the country. Indeed in the book '21 Toughest Hooligan Firms Ever' they are rated at no 9 behind the likes of the West Ham ICF and the Millwall Bushwackers, but ahead of the Boro Frontline and the Everton County Raod Cutters.

    The origins of Tottenham's Jewish support has nothing to do with Ashkenazi Jews and little to do with Jewish immigrants in North London. Jews from the East End (second or third generation, I think) supported Tottenham in the 1930s as there was a lot of anti-Semitism amongst the West Ham fans.

      Agreed - Orthodox Jews would not be at a football match on a Saturday afternoon period. As correctly stated Tottenham's Jewish support is from East London including Bethnal Green, Whitechapel, Hackney.

    • @ullscarf
      @ullscarf 11 місяців тому +1

      @richardscott8949 Nowadays it would be mostly from north London. Do many Jews still live in the East End? The Jewish support isn't as obvious as it used to be, partly because of intermixing. People that think Tottenham fans should stop calling themselves Yids underestimate the number of fans with some Jewish heritage and for whom the Tottenham/Yids identity is all they have left of it.

      You answered it yourself by the amalgamation of the word immigrant behind Jewish, who were/are the clan that North London is built upon? Jewish yet naturally without sly forces in works, Zionism, but what therefore is mount Zion spread via true Jewish holding colour diverse, if needed 'black' humans. I'm out before typing a statement that resides me on the police hookup list 😘

    I was at the 2007 with Dante at the Lord Nelson
    What had actually happened was my picture got leaked on a hooligan forum a few days before so we were on our toes, I wouldn’t say I was the leader but I was defo older than the rest, think I was 25 and Dante was probably the youngest
    We tried to get into the game but there were no tickets available so we decided to go watch it in a pub nearby
    While we were watching a few more Spurs entered the pub so our mind was fixed on the game then Mido equalised and we went nuts, a few moments later they burst into the pub asking if we are Tottenham
    What happened next I can’t remember for legal reasons but let’s just say they came to the wrong pub for the wrong Tottenham lot
    Even though we lost on the pitch we def won off it as earlier in the Day the older Tottenham lot had taken over the George we took liberties on their manor

Me and 3 mates parked up some side street and saw a mob of City further down who confronted us at traffic lights earlier. We instinctively turned tail and as we got round the corner I said to our General, "do we run?" He said "just wait for them" as they came bombing up the road expecting to see us scarpering down the road and were taken aback to see us up for it. There was a short tense stand off as we walked down do the main thoroughfare without incident just talking in our groups.

      As you know i was at that '77 WHL game, it's on youtube. Watching when the goals are scored the Sunderland lot didn't look too intimidated when they were bouncing around completely unchallenged. There were plenty of groups who had no problems at all that day and the Iron Horse lot were backing down from no-one. Anyway, we're talking about the description on this video which really is absolute bollocks. Firstly in no way shape or form did spurs have a "huge following" out "all day". They had a very small following and the majority turned up unusually late with absolutely none of them out "all day". The ones who were in the spurs section say half an hour before kick got absolutely splattered and chased out(this is shown very clearly on the associated youtube video with Sunderland at the back). Sunderland had completely taken over the away section in the Roker and when spurs' mob arrived 5 minutes before kick off, they took a hiding too and ended up being chased onto the pitch. My mates dad was a copper and he was one of a few who escorted some spurs fans back to seaburn station as they couldn't find anywhere safe to put them in the ground. *****This in no way doubts spurs' ability to take away big followings or that they had a great firm in later years.....but we're talking about the description on this video for this game which is about as inaccurate as you could get. While we're talking spurs away i was at a nightime game either late '81 or early '82, (score finished 2-2 after spurs led 2-0). We were out and about from late afternoon and didn't have too many problems although getting turfed outside afterwards into the cold night skies and held against that wall was an eye opener, although nothing much happened apart from a few verbals. Anyway, stay well my friend!!! @@britishqueen94

    • @andrewsmith3217
      @andrewsmith3217 Рік тому

      A lot of points there but i'll clear one up for you. You definitely didn't blast past the main sunderland firm onto the roker end into the spurs section. Any photos from the era (old Roker End)will show there were only two upper entrances onto the Roker terrace. One was a long way to the left and the one into the away section was completely controlled by sunderland by then. When spurs were getting battered underneath the roker the police emptied the children's section behind the goal to make a "new" away section and brought spurs firm in through the lower entrance right behind the goal. This is why sunderland were "above" and spurs were then attacked from behind and this is where the infamous "brush" came into play and when spurs were legged over the fence and onto the pitch. It simply wasn't spurs' day. Being honest it was never going to be spurs day but fair to say that everything that could go for them wrong did go wrong and the attacks were relentless!!! Anyway, most would agree that over a long period of time spurs have never been less than good and for a decent chunk of time one of the very best. I don't think some "youngsters" would believe some of the teams/firms sunderland turned over away from home during that era. From memory Cardiff '79(biggest ever away following at Ninian Park, all pubs overrun, and mentioned in their hooligan books), Leeds '81, Boro(many times but '81 is even covered in THEIR hooligan books about 10,000 and nearly all "Lads"), Hull away (opening day of season 12-15,000 dafties), Battle of the A1 where Leeds got splattered and chased all over the fields with the A1 closed by police(even got a mention on Match of the Day). There's loads more of these before the Seaburn Casuals were even invented and they had a few good(and bad) days themselves. @@britishqueen94
