Surely this would be much better if instead of separate 1v1 rounds it was just all vs all in the first room, then one player dies, the three survivors go through to the next room where one is killed, the two survivors go through to the final. No waiting around for 3 mins for the other round to finish or for failsafe mushrooms etc. Also it would be fairer if only 3 people are playing as with the current system if there are 3 players, one will automatically advance to the final while the other two fight it out in the semi-final.
I think in making a battle arena you need to know what items are good and what items are not. Shells, first and foremost you need a weapon, the only item that damages other players are well, shells. Bomb-ombs: a high risk high reward weapon, will add chaos, use sparingly, shells should still be primary weapon Mushrooms: Gives you an extra hit but makes you a larger target, think of it as body armor 1ups: necessary in an arena deathmatch game, use sparingly shlemets/shells: versatile as it could serve as a weapon or armor, make this a power item mushroooms+ (giant, smb2) adds a 2nd hit point which might be too much, closer to power item but leave it out is better Flowers (fire, superball, boomerang) DON'T put these in, they do no damage to players and only knock out shells, too much of a defensive boost. Flying (cape, baloon, acorn) great for platforming, not for vs combat. LEAVE OUT Mounts (Yoshi, Cloud). Leave mostly out, the green yoshi is good for grabbing and throwing and the shoe for ground pound but best to leave out as the rest have the same problem as flowers and flying. Other (link, catsuit, builder) has great PVE combat but lacks most of the pvp. The builder could stun but it is best to leave out.
If there are 3 people and one in the first 1v1 disconnects, the timer will be too short. 160s waiting in the first game. 150s waiting for finals. The person that gets the emergency mushroom will be late by a couple of seconds...

I wouldn't build this in SMB style, because of how few moves do the characters have. Btw, maybe you could detect if a player dies in any other way than the icicles with boos, but idk how to detect who they are following, or with any enemy that attacks the closest player (but there would be issues with spectators) and I would put TONS of Mario 2 mushrooms on the icicles
Using the doughnut instead of a straight fall means that if smallbro does get in first they can just keep jumping and never allow the bigbro to progress to the second fight.
hey panga, there's a catch in your level: technically, two players could get out of the arena. if the emergency mushroom shows up after 2.5 minutes, the big player could break an icicle, let the other player grab a mushroom, and they'll both leave the room.
Is this only a thing because there are two mushrooms above the icicles? If there was only one you would have one player as SMB2 Mario and one as Super Mario right?
This level is a little bit broken, and it can be adjusted, but you gotta appreciate PangaeaPanga's creation. The concept is absolutely brilliant. 😊👍❤️🐼🐼❤️👍😊
The post-semi finals part with the spiked shells felt really long. I get that there probably wasn't a safer way to detect the lack of an opponent without immediately letting a player through when there is an opponent that hasn't triggered the system, but it still felt really long.
I like it alot but the winner should also be able to choose to let everyone get the flag, rather then fight for 2nd place. Keep making more 4p versus levels!
