You can, any games that says OPTIMIZED FOR XBOX SERIES X|S can be played directly from the expansion. Some games that say OPTIMIZED FOR XBOX SERIES X|S can be played from a standard SSD or HDD as well not all games need an expansion card from my testing. Mainly older Xbox one games.

I got the Seagate 2TB last year and will be good for the rest of the generation, but I'm glad this WD drive has a speed advantage for new buyers looking for alternatives/cheaper prices.

I have the 2TB Seagate and it’s hit 6GB as well. When I had the 1TB, it might’ve hit it once, as it got full, hit about 3-4GB. There was some YT vid awhile back that brought this up, also on reddit, could be the chip or some component inside. Just make sure the manufacturer date is recent and not older. Perhaps a revision happened at some point.
Tested my 1TB Seagate yesterday and it hit 6.36, settled at 6.35 for most of two transfers I did. I didn't check the manufactured date but I did get the card this year when I stopped by the electronics section of a store to get the WD card but all they had was one Seagate and given it was price matched to the WD cards I picked it up instead. So you were right, newer cards Better Transfer speeds but that's all. Game performance will be the same for older cards.
Since the Xbox UI operates on the internal storage, it'll be a lot slower to transfer content onto it... but if you're moving it from the internal storage, it basically gets "happy" to free up space by pushing the load from it... plus, the expansion card usually sits idle until there's activity (downloading, playing a game, transferring, etc.)

G(small b)ps is gigaBIT per second. Which, when converted to gigaBYTES per second, is roughly "10 times" (or an order of magnitude) less than the Gbps value. So 5 Gbps is roughly 500 megabytes (or .500 GB) per second, which is still fast. 🤔 Edit: Bouncing between 5 and 6 Gbps is between 625MB/s and 725MB/s**
Gigabits are literally 8 times smaller than gigabytes (8 bits to a byte). But yeah, with speeds like that, and the ridiculous cost of what is essentially a hot-swappable, PCIe Gen 3 drive, I'm still going to hold off getting an expansion card until they're reasonably priced.
@@evan5935 Understandable. I may eventually pick one up, but considering that I have a desktop that outperforms my XSX, I'd rather play my XBox games there instead of paying that obscene amount for an expansion card.

The Seagate may be a smaller size drive which will affect the transfer speed. Less storage chips = slower speed because each chip has an upper limit. On a side note what is the Seagate size you tested with?

Would be good to note that I would think unless they are a sponsor or something. I know the difference is only like 3-4 minutes, but if the R/W of one is faster than the game will most likely load/render/etc faster
The WB Black being new has a better broad / more refinement of software for better speed transfer. I'm a super fan of their external Xbox black 3.2 drives . Btw they're on clearance at Walmart $120 drive paid $50!!😮
Seagate has the same speeds, tested my 1TB last night because I remembered this video. As someone else Said in the comments section. It's more to do with the age of your card and newer ones transfer faster but that's all.
LOL, I wonder if GTA6 will be 600gb? XD Better have the Series X /Ps5 Pro or get ready to play at 480p on Series S! HA HA HA!!! Actually after what we have seen, could they even make that work on the Series S 10gb ram? Or will it only launch on PlayStation since all versions of PS5 have 16gb ram…?
Um, that's GigaBITs per second, not GigaBYTES. Gouging the customer for a proprietary (as well as slower) storage medium is why I'll *always* get my XBox games on PC before I pick them up on the console.
Maybe the internal storage of the next generation will be 4+ TB. Doubtful, though, because then that decreases the chance for aftermarket things being created, which drives the economy in this sector.
Not the best if you need and want a 2TB card. I have two Segate 2TB and two 1 TB cards. WD said there will probably not be any larger cards from them since not enough Series consoles have sold to justify.
I bought the C50 because it has a 5 year warranty, the Seagate only has a 3 year one, but I hope I won't need it. My external 2TB Crucial MX500 on my Xbox One X failed almost exactly at the end of the warranty period (also 5 years).
It's not gigabyte per second. It's gigabit per second. Which means 5.5-6 gbps = 650-750 megabyte per second. I bought Wd c50 1tb and speed little bit slower 5-5.5 gbps. Still slower than even Gen 3 nvme. But better than hdd or old ssd.
That is just over-indulgence, an extra 1TB is more than enough for keeping multiple games to play at any given time, even huge ones. At this point you're just using it for games-collecting, which in that case just buy the WD_BLACK 5TB P10 Game Drive
So dum like why do we have to constantly download back to the console when we wanna play like what can I buy that skips the downloading back to console step but also gives my more storage
Either Seagate or WD Expansion Card can play Series X games directly from it, as if it were being played from the Internal SSD. The original run of the Seagate 1TB used a much slower controller so it could only write at 1200mbps (150MB/s), newer Seagate 1TB use the faster controller and can write at 6000mbps (750MB/s) just like the 2TB Seagate and 1TB WD expansion cards. Of course Gen4 PCIE NVME m.2 drives are 58,400mbps (7,300MB/s) write speeds, so uhh, yeah… just 10 times faster…
Ya just got the wd1tb and plan to download all my old 360 stuff to it and only use the hd for current next gen games for my series s… Such as boring all black ops 6…. Which is another cod let down
does the card need to be formatted somehow? i keep seeing videos where they dont show any formatting, but the card i bought the c50 mentions formatting on the instructions in the box
So, can you play Series X games that are saved on a Western Digital expansion card? I saw a YT video last night and the guy said you cannot play saved Series X games on a WD card. Said ya gotta move them over to internal drive first and then you can play em
I really wish Xbox went with a standard M.2 drive like PS5. The prices are still pretty high. When I see 2TB for $200, I’m just thinking I can get one of the new Series X with 2TB internal for $200 “off” 😂
So I can buy a new game and download it to the WB card? Cause I'm thinking about buying the series S with the WB 1TB card but I wanna make sure I can download all my old Xbox One x games to the card as well.
That’s not measured in gigabytes it’s gigabits there’s a huge difference. There’s a 8 bits in a byte so divide by 8 you get the bytes measurement. So that 5.64 gigabits is 700 megabytes per second. Clearly the prices are controlled by Microsoft as they are identical - the PS5 has a huge advantage in this regard. I'm using an external SSD but sadly that transfers at 2.5Gbps as opposed to 8000Gbps (1 gigabyte per second) so games take 6-7 minutes instead of 2 minutes.
Sorry to make this assumption, but you're thinking of download speeds. Transfer speeds are significantly faster. Always. With that being said, if you're getting 60mbps transfer speeds, you must be transferring your games to a Samsung Smart fridge 💀
bit is referring to speed, byte is referring to storage. so if you 1gb of storage it'll be 1giga''byte'' and if your download speed is 1gbps it would be 1 giga ''bit'' per second
Xbox is Insanely expensive compared to Ps5 expansions XboxX should come with a minimum 2TB internal drive from purchase..1-TB on the X-1, even then it’s easily filled…but now with next Gen 🤔 1-TB, the useable is 800gb…we losing 200gb which is ridiculous imho…leaves to put 4-5 games on the main drive…as it’s not just the initial d/load of game these days, it’s the 100gb in updates throughout that really makes the 1TB internal, useless. If memory was cheap, which is normal is for ALL other platforms…even Sony’s options for aftermarket SSD $140 for 2-TB vs XboxX $400 for 2-TB the memory is approaching the cost of the console 😱…which as mentioned above, INSANE!
Get a 10tb external. Download and copy all games to it. And copy games over to internal when wanting to play. Have installed on both, then uninstall internal copy when done. Save time and bandwidth. Don't have too move installs around as much.
Just depends on the size of the game it’s self, like call of duty 2 with all of its components is 266gb so that being said you could get it on there a little over 3 times. 1TB is a 1000GB. So I’m theory you should be able to load 4 games that’s around 250gb each for a 1tb card. And around 8 for the 2tb cards..
Holy! Just looked in your shop. Those are scalper prices and make no mistake. And as for that daft, desperate and ludicrous price tag on your channel...
no, because XOne does not have expansion card slot, but u can buy a External Solid State Drive with USB 3.2, its faster than the internal HDD and u can play from the SSD
What bothers me, and should be changed as an industry practice, is that you are not getting the full 1TB for your games. You lose tons gigs after formatting. I’ll wait till the prices and storage goes up.
It's all because of the file system, it needs storage to store where data is located, file names etc, this is the case with all drives and file systems. A 1TB drive is actually 1TB but the file system needs about 100mb to store file system information. You aren't being cheated out of storage its just how all file systems function.
that's literally every drive. listed storage is the unformatted size always. usually for an SSD to last longer you'll want to have overprovisioning (smaller partition so the drive doesn't ever get full)
You’re paying for convenience and being able to bring it to any other console and start playing games. I wouldn’t want to carry a PS5 around or uninstall it every time.

Is it work like Seagates' Expansion Card or just like an usual HDD? I think, if i cant play without any move or sth its not worth it.
It‘s the same as the seagate expansion cards, just newer and cheaper. You can play X|S games from it, that‘s the point of this product ☺️
@@LaVey1999can you really ? Because I wanna get one for my Xbox 1 and play X|S games
@@mj4824 You can use the expansion card only on the Xbox Series X or S, NOT on the Xbox One.
You can store X|S optimized games on it and play them. I use the 1TB card on my Series S and it works the same as the internal SSD.
@@mj4824yes you can
guys i don’t know anything about expansion packs so can somebody please answer my question, hypothetically let’s say i install NBA2k on my WD Black Card, if i then take the WD Black Card and plug it in to my friends xbox (that does not have NBA2k installed), would i be able to play right away, or would i have to install the game onto his xbox? any response is appreciated, thank you
yes u are able to play right away
@ awesome!! thank you👍🏻
Clearly the prices are controlled by Microsoft as they are identical - the PS5 has a huge advantage in this regard. I'm using an external SSD but sadly that transfers at 2.5Gbps as opposed to 8000Gbps (1 gigabyte per second) so games take 6-7 minutes instead of 2 minutes.
3:30 "1GBPS is pretty slow" ????? I have only 60MBPS and always get down to 30MBPS
Sorry to make this assumption, but you're thinking of download speeds. Transfer speeds are significantly faster. Always. With that being said, if you're getting 60mbps transfer speeds, you must be transferring your games to a Samsung Smart fridge 💀
@@vxpwrtrip Idk if you know but 1GBPS is pretty slow because we get 1GBPR but back of the program 1GBPR actually equals 125MBPR
Wait so weather digital can i download a series x game on it and just click and play or is this just for transferring back and forth fast
Its for playing your games, just install them and play. Just wanted to see the speed
Lowercase b in Gbps means bit instead uppercase B - byte
bit is referring to speed, byte is referring to storage. so if you 1gb of storage it'll be 1giga''byte'' and if your download speed is 1gbps it would be 1 giga ''bit'' per second
I put a Tera byte in my switch and ps5. It’s kind of important on modern consoles
Get the Seagate if it's what's available, same thing as far as gaming goes.
What’s the difference between the wb expansion card 1tb and the 500 gb one
1tb is more storage but its also more expensive
Can put XS games on it and play them unlike other ones ?
yes
Uh oh! Looks like someone has a couple of gocos on their hand!
what the hell is a goco? lol... Was at batting cages on Friday and forgot my gloves and tore up my hand.
@@Madlittlepixel goco is Mexican Spanish slang for light/mild injuries, lol. Take care dude
Xbox is Insanely expensive compared to Ps5 expansions
XboxX should come with a minimum 2TB internal drive from purchase..1-TB on the X-1, even then it’s easily filled…but now with next Gen 🤔 1-TB, the useable is 800gb…we losing 200gb which is ridiculous imho…leaves to put 4-5 games on the main drive…as it’s not just the initial d/load of game these days, it’s the 100gb in updates throughout that really makes the 1TB internal, useless.
Don't have too move installs around as much.
id buy it if they made a 2tb version
just bought one off Facebook market for 70 bones. I love copping stuff second hand let some else spend that new money. I'll pick up the deals
What does C50 mean?
2tb Seagate does 6gb a second too
how many games can you store on a 1tb storage card??
Just depends on the size of the game it’s self, like call of duty 2 with all of its components is 266gb so that being said you could get it on there a little over 3 times. 1TB is a 1000GB. So I’m theory you should be able to load 4 games that’s around 250gb each for a 1tb card. And around 8 for the 2tb cards..
WD now has a 2 TB out for more storage.
currently on sale for 110 on Amazon
does this expansion card support series X enhanced games?
yes !
Holy! Just looked in your shop. Those are scalper prices and make no mistake. And as for that daft, desperate and ludicrous price tag on your channel...
I wish somebody would just say it in the comments so I will. So basically WD is better than Seagate
Can i use this on Xbox one
no, because XOne does not have expansion card slot, but u can buy a External Solid State Drive with USB 3.2, its faster than the internal HDD and u can play from the SSD
Very cool
Pause on all this Xbox stuff I want to know more about that PeeWee Herman doll.
You aren't being cheated out of storage its just how all file systems function.
that's literally every drive. listed storage is the unformatted size always. usually for an SSD to last longer you'll want to have overprovisioning (smaller partition so the drive doesn't ever get full)
the first xbox 360 i had came with 4gb
Just don't buy the Seagate SSD card their slow and it over heats. WD SSD card are better faster and run kooler and their cheaper.
I have 8 tb in my PlayStation
If it’s worth to get I would get it
Just brought a recertified refurbished one from their website with a discount only came up to 115 for the 1 TB💪🏿
western digital is the best hard drive maker there is
Still outrageous price not worth it one bit
Cheaper to buy the xbox ones
The price we pay for going digital.
Oh no, its not just digital.. we have to pay for storage for our physical games to be installed to the drive as well.
ridiculous bs, it's even more than a seagate.
Way too high ! I can buy a 2tb PS5 expansion card for that price .
You’re paying for convenience and being able to bring it to any other console and start playing games. I wouldn’t want to carry a PS5 around or uninstall it every time.
w3rd!
