- Bobcat T300 is hard to steer. The steering levers are stiff and hard to control. A rebuilt Hydrostatic pump and rebuilt drive motors were installed but did not fix the problem.

Thank you for all your Bobcat videos. I'm a reasonably capable mechanic but little experience with Bobcats. Diagnosis is the big problem for me. The R&R is easy with your videos. I just had a failure with my T320 that I use for Forestry. Both steel(yes steel) tracks started juddering after heavy work climbing steep terrain heavily loaded. Lost power to both tracks. Added some fluid, let it cool down overnight. Now it works fine - for a while. The simple diagnostic tool that helped is a laser/digital thermometer. When the problem recurs, stop, lift the cab and find the hottest part of the hydrostatic drive system. That will be the closest to the component that has failed.(Pump?). Don't forget to confirm that the hydraulically driven cooling fan runs ! Next step, do a pressure test. Thanks for all your Bobcat videos !
Really nice machine. T300s were some of Bobcats best machines. I am glad I had the chance to meet you and happy to see you are doing well. Cheers!!
I was thinking the same thing, that the rebuilt pump wasn't any good. Unfortunately I find that new and rebuilt parts are often bad when I replace them on vehicles. Sad these things happen. Hope that guy is happy to have his machine back. Thank you for the video!
Just to give you heads up, I’ve used Friday Parts to find parts for my T300. Thanks for sharing another great tip and excellent video.
I started to follow you few days back and because of you I figured out our s173 bobcat mega fuse was bad boss pulled battery and shorted the battery which blew fuse no power to cab thanks so much
Sending good vibes to Tetrad Group, we appreciate your videos!
Great video for what its worth on those bobcat t300 and s300's there is a simple lift bracket you can make that balances the whole pump and engine assembly really well and makes install/removal a breeze. The print for it is in the bobcat service manual and worth the small amount of steel to make, if you do a fair amount of those large frame machines with the Kubota.
Always enjoy watching your videos ,as a mechanic myself. A person can learn a lot from your videos . Thanks for posting these interesting videos
Long live the T250/T300 and T320’s
That’s an incredibly clean machine
I'll say
Wow, another great video. Always learn something new in each of your videos. Keep them coming. Thank you!
Thanks for the great vids. Big fan. What do you recommend for hyd oil for bobcat T-190? Bobcat fluid got so expensive.
Hey can you make a video on how to replace the stud/sleeve that goes over the tensioner/spring when you do the drive belt on the T590 my sleeve is wore out part #7196910 THANKS
Excellent video always enjoy the details of the repair, I have a T300 with the exact symptoms as you were describing in this video how can I test the charge pressure ?
On the mechanical ( trunion style) hydrostat - the feedback is your pressure. Any damage to the rotational group of pumps would reduce the highest pressure it can reach, so it will reduce the feedback and machines performance.
Something happens in the undercarriage, it’s just induces more pressure in the pumps required to do the job, when you counter steer.
On the pilot controlled machine, the higher feedback and higher charge pressure - means check valves not holding.
Another great job….i have a T320 and the fan is rubbing on the shroud above the engine. What is the procedure for correcting that situation? Thanks. Best regards
I actually have one that when you try to make a right turn it has a loud noise and almost stalls the machine I opened up the chain case and the disc brakes were destroyed cleaned everything out replaced the disc brakes and still the same look at the right drive motor and metal particle’s were coming out so I changed the drive motor now you can turn right but noise and grinding still there i have to swap the hydrostatic pump waiting on one from bobcat itself
I have a very similar problem in my S185 . I already removed the hydraulic pump to get it looked at . I would pour fluid in and the level ball would go up a bit and a minute later the fluid was gone and the machine would move , I’ve must’ve pour 10 gallons of fluid and the ball was still all the way bottom . Any ideas ?
The oil is pumping into the chain case. Open it up and see how full it is. Bad drive motor, or carrier seal
Is the hydro-pump the same/similar on the A300 w/SJC? Would love to see the Engine removal/install, thank you for your videos!!
Great videos always waiting for new ones
Another great video . Can you disclose how many hours are on that machine?
In hydrostatic pumps purging the case is not super important, as long as there’s some oil there. Because functional charge system will fill the case very quickly.
Hey, how did Bobcat go about letting you start doing these videos again. I actually opted for a different brand for this years purchase of a mini digger because of what they did with you and this channel.
What’s the difference between hydraulic system and hydrostatic system? Or is there no difference?
Yes and no, the hydrostat system drives ONLY the tracks and the wheels. It does however share oil and the cooler of the rest of the hydraulic system. The auxiliary hydraulics and the boom functions are a separate set of pumps.
Hydrostatic ( closed loop) mostly recycling the same oil running it in the loop and only replenishing what was lost in natural bypass.
Hydraulics take oil from the reservoir - and return all the oil in to reservoir.
Hydraulic Pump:
-A hydraulic pump is a device used to compress and transmit fluid (typically hydraulic oil) to generate mechanical power.
-It is commonly used in hydraulic systems to transfer energy from one place to another, driving hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic motors, or other hydraulic actuators.
-Hydraulic pumps come in various types, such as gear pumps, piston pumps, screw pumps, etc., and they work differently but are all used to generate hydraulic pressure to perform mechanical work.
Hydrostatic Pump:
-A hydrostatic pump is typically a specific type of hydraulic pump used in hydrostatic drive systems, where the fluid is usually circulated in a closed loop rather than delivering power to moving mechanical parts.
-Hydrostatic pumps are often used to deliver a constant static hydraulic pressure, such as in hydraulic brake systems, hydrostatic transmission systems, etc.
-These systems operate by maintaining a constant pressure rather than changing hydraulic pressure during the process of generating motion.
In summary, a "hydraulic pump" is a general term used for various hydraulic applications, whereas a "hydrostatic pump" is a specific type of hydraulic pump typically associated with hydrostatic drive systems that maintain a constant hydraulic pressure.
@@FridayPartsOfficial very good explanation, thanks
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Жаль что ты не рядом. Мой бобик стоит уже пят лет не знаем вчем причина Спасибо.....
👍
The logical thing would not be to throw parts at it without prooving the component is faulty.
If there shit was not proprietary and all you guys could come to Hydraulic companies . That new Bobcat pump does not have a charge pump . The gear pump might be the issue .
