Thanks for another great video! I'm definitely an audiobook-listening crafter. Zoning out to a good book while I knit is my go-to when I don't have a knitting/crafting video to play in the background. As far as books go, I'm typically okay with a bit of fantasy-unrealistic situations but absolutely LOVE when the authors I read add real-world logic to their storyline and plot (its the "cherry on top" that I wasn't expecting but always appreciate).
Thank for the book recommendation ! I like to read murder mysteries without graphic descriptions. I prefer the plot. A romance is nice time to time to clean the palate or to forget what happens in the world ( sometimes reality is too awful to be it is nice to escape)
I have found as I get older I need more things with happy endings. My shows, my books, my manga, etc. I think you’re right the world around us is so tumultuous and I just need a way to unplug and believe in good things again. So I primarily watch happy/cheesy things unless something is recommended as a must read and even then I have to be careful to see if I want to invest.
I love knitting + audiobooks! I’m more of a detective, murder/who-done-it kind of book reader. That said, lately (last year or so), I find myself preferring to read less angst, stressful stories. Donna Andrews, David Rosenfelt … examples. Tried Libby’s suggested reads for xyz themed books as well, depending on many variables (well written, believable, etc..), hit or miss whether I enjoy them. Because October/Halloween, listening to older (and newer) spooky stories, just because.
I think it best I don’t spin! I’d like to learn, but… small apartment, etc. it’s all I can do knitting up my stash!
The new sweater looks great! Glad you enjoyed your trip! Thanks for chatting & showing all your makes!
lovely video, thank you! I really enjoyed your book reviews, they made me giggle ❤
P.S. I also loved your realistic review of the romance books. I think I want to read meet me by the lake now.
I definitely feel the same way about romance novels. I get way too "thinky" about things. 😂 Same for when there are too many errors (either spelling, fragment / run-on sentences, or contradictory character descriptions halfway through the book). I particularly like fantasy romance, so the worlds tend to get a little detailed.
Also, when my joints are killing me, I sometimes have to use my square wooden interchangeable set from Knitter's Pride instead of my metal interchangeable sets. It's weird, but it helps.
Ahh, yay for romance! My brain works like yours & I only got into them in 2019. Most of my favourite authors are BIPOC, queer, or both.
Here are some to check out:
Talia Hibbert (contemporary)
Alyssa Cole (contemporary & historical)
TJ Klune’s Paladin series (fantasy romance, there’s some crime/mystery aspects too, so they’ve got a dark fantasy feel -alongside the fluffy romance bits)
Helen Hoang (contemporary)
KJ Charles (historical)
Courtney Milan (historical)
Olivia Waite (historical)
TJ Alexander (contemporary)
Olivia Dade (contemporary)
Ummm, that’s probably enough to get you started. 😂
Omg. Bless you for this list off to the library I go!!
