I love that this implies that in a seemingly offline single player game there’s just 2 guys assigned to every player just to watch carrying capacity
And that's just ONE department, the game mechanics department.

@@goteer10 they have one guy who makes sure the player doesn’t clip through anything. His partner makes sure everything else doesn’t clip into anything. The partner is only there to get paid (like a good worker) and does the bare minimum

I like the way this mechanic was handled in Hellpoint; rather than a single weight threshold, there's a smooth decrease in mobility that comes with with increasingly heavy equipment.
Dragon's Dogma did this too but it only have 6 stages

i’m glad you said this because i was just sitting here wondering why most games don’t have a mechanic like that. maybe it’s really hard or time consuming to code properly? idk
@@matthewmccoy7437 Most games that did that have one or more of their core features affected by the weight system. For example in Dragon's Dogma, Stamina is used in almost everything, from sprinting, carrying and climbing, and using all Special Moves. So classes that use heavier equipment is going to be much slower but can tank hits.
It's similar to the Souls series, either go naked then go rolling around with high speed but a single tap can kill you, or go heavy armor that can take some extra hits before you die.

Most of the time you wouldn't even want to give up the unnecessary items in your inventory for no reason at all, it's just weird.

Agree. Reloading to another axe, is preferable, if you have the time, but if not, ya, switching to secondary, needs to be in muscle memory.

I like the 7D2D approach where instead of jumping immediately into a trudge until you go back below a threshold, you instead get increasing speed penalties the more you carry past your current limit.

The more realistic way to handle inventory is as your weight goes up, more debuffs are added like slower movement and maybe less strength and agility, until finally you just cant move

I've come across several of Hoot's vids but thought nothing of it until now. The animation is akin to stop-motion type vids and i haven't realized i like that style of animation until now.
