Very cool editing! I'm just learning about Baji, and I like it's aesthetic. My Hakka kung fu colleagues speak highly of the art, in general. Great vid! 👊
All traditional kung fu styles train with weights. Hung Ga trains with iron wrist rings, Tai Chi with wooden balls and iron rods, etc, just to name a few. Even Bruce Lee advocated weight and resistance training.
Weight has a lot to do in a fight, speed is another key factor, joint flexibility is an important one too... there are many key factors that could make someone with not much muscles win a fight to someone who lifts more weight. Anyway, RUmedic has his point there.
sicksidemadness You are absolutely correct about speed and joint strength. In fact, a muscular strength is not as important as tendon strength. Those muscles that are available need to react quickly. In muscles there are quick fibers that contract when a punch or a kick is executed. That is why dynamic tensioning or Zhang Zhuang is so important to train on in addition to muscular strength development to support the tendons and joints.
very well done. the choreography and the Baji were superbly done.

Hello dose Beijing Bajiquan club have a website?
Kung fu really needs to put more emphasis on weight training, just techniques is not enough, no muscles will always lose to stronger trained opponents
True. One of my baji master was training MMA, he said that the muscle training in MMA really helped him to train baji

It's also very important if only for the muscle weight. Body weight is important for power in baji
