I almost drowned in lake travis after I jumped in . It felt like I weighed more than usual in water. Something weird about that lake.

You probably just lost weight. If your flesh is not marbled, like marbled meat, or you have no fat, it can be harder to float.
PS I know I'm talking about human meat, but I am not werewolf!

When I was fishing in the early 90s off a Marina I hooked something and it shot out to the middle of the lake faster than anything I've ever come across. I was holding on for the with all my strength while calling for help. It was going to pull me in the lake I had to lay on the ground and it was pulling me over the edge with my arms straight out. It gave no ground at all just a constant unending pull and finally broke my line. There is something in that lake and it isn't a fish.
What was your bait and gear? Would love to try and catch that thing.

I had the same exact experience except that it was someone else with me. Everyone tried to hold him back from falling into the water and whatever he had hooked it pulled all 7 of them in.

This is what you're gonna have with EVERY, SINGLE, LAKE, Lake Travis is no different from the others. I bet out of all the lakes in the world this has happened atleast once.

I live in Arlington. Swimming has been banned for years. The reason? Officially " muddy drop offs and holes" .
Well duh, its a Texas lake.
The reason is swimmers who cannot swim do so without flotation. Being close to the city it attracts people who would not normally drive far go to a lake. People used to swimming in a clear swimming pool.

I sure hope the government does the right thing and bans all swimming, boating and overall fun in Lake Travis. I need the government to continue to put our safety over our freedom because we are stupid creatures that are incapable of caring for ourselves. Thank you government!

This was such a dumb news story it’s a lake of course it has dangers just like every other lake in existence people drown it happens it’s unfortunate but its not because of Lake Travis
