I strongly feel that Canada makes a National Holiday in honour of Alex Trebek - with events that promote learning, like book fairs and educational lectures all across the country
We need more holidays and I would vote for this. The only problem is that this would likely end up being a federal holiday not adopted by provinces and in the end, only federal and bank employees would benefit. Look at Remembrance Day for instance, not even a statutory holiday in Ontario and Quebec (and maybe some other provinces). It may be complicated to give more vacation to everyone and it would cost employers etc., but introducing a holiday here and there would help a lot of people have a bit of respite. Those forced to work would at least get more overtime. Basically, vote for me and I will progressively introduce 7 new statutory holidays.
Alex Trebek was a Canadian Icon for decades. Smart, talented, diplomatic, kind, well loved by everyone... could go on and on. He deserves every star on his Order of Canada. We lost so many great ones this year like Neil Peart. Now we are left with Bieber to make us proud :(
Just for our American neighbours, who may not understand, this building is our equivalent of your Capitol. Here, our two divisions of government debate & pass or reject legislation. An amazing honour for someone who left Canada in 1973, & who was no longer solely a Canadian citizen. You did us proud, Alex. We'll miss you. 🍁
Yes, touching gesture, but perhaps it could have been stepped up one more notch. Considering that Alex, a Companion of the Order of Canada, was a more meaningful Canadian ambassador to the U.S. than any federal appointee could ever hope to be, I think that Trudeau should have declared a discretionary provision to fly the Peace Tower flag at half mast.
Nice to know that Alex was an Ottawa Senators fan. I was passing by the Canadian Tire Centre on my way to Tanger Outlets nearby one day, and right next to the highway, there was this screen which shows the ads and all that. And for a whole month it showed a picture of the famous Jeopardy! star with him wearing a Sens jersey and it read, “Thanks Alex”. Man sweet tribute. It’s good to know that he valued Ottawa very much. Too bad he won’t be alive to see the Sens win the Stanley Cup sometime. And the Peace Tower doing this is touching. RIP Alex Trebek. You’ll be missed, but never forgotten!
You know being stuck in the city you were born in is no fun, so glad Alex got out & made a mark! Very pleased Ottawa did this, something to be proud of for a change for Ottawa. Great upload, thank you!- Sure hope Jean & their kids see this lovely moving tribute to a kind & remarkable humanitarian!! Goodbye Alex, rest with our love. 🌹😔🌹. 🇨🇦☘️

Plus the name of the holiday will need to be in the form of a question.
Speaking of book fairs, I miss the good old days of when schools had the Scholastic Book Fairs!
I'm super late, but I thought along the same lines. I was legit surprised Canada didn't create a holiday in his name.
@@toady3794 Of course. :)
Damn I never realized how sad this tune can sound.
Jeopardy will never be the same

Makes me proud to be Canadian when even though our government may seem a bit messy, this happens..
Says a lot eh🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Trust me, your government is immaculate when compared to ours. Have you seen the nonsense going on over here since... well, forever?
This made me tear up again. Great tribute!
A beautiful tribute to an amazing Canadian 🇨🇦 🍁 ❤
