- Mavka. Forest Song - the most expected Ukrainian cartoon, which plot is based on a famous play "Forest Song" by Lesya Ukrainka!
The cartoon doesn't repeat the plot of the drama, it is a kind family story that includes the play's characters and setting. The cartoon has great animation, sound, a lot of kind humor and shows Ukrainian everyday traditions. Its language is quite modern and will be great material for listening practice in Ukrainian.
The story is about a forest spirit Mavka and a human boy Lukash who fell in love with each other. But some cruel people put the forest in danger, and Mavka had to protect it from people, despite her feelings for one of them.
The Mavka character originates from Ukrainian mythology, so this story is kind of a fresh look at Ukrainian myths.
You will find our much more details in the video :)

🔥
Just bought the official adaptation book for my daughter until we can find a place/way to watch it!
Great! The book actually is a very good way for kids to get acquainted with the story :)
I watched Mavka it was amazing it came out in New Zealand on 6th of April.
🔥🔥🔥
i loved it. cried so much for the love. im mavka and i met a boy like the one in the saga, we fell in love but its a bit hard now.. hope we find back to eachother
I can't find the reference, but I once read of a Japanese spirit which also had a hollow back.
The movie looks interesting. I'm thinking of buying a copy.
Thanks for enriching us.
you are N1, like N1
Looking forward to see it in the theater here!
❤️🔥
I can't wait to see it!
❤️🔥
It will be in cinemas in Lithuania only with redubbed audio which will be in Lithuanian :( I will either have to watch in Ukraine or online to hear the original language :D
Oh that's bad they don't show it just with subs
I wonder how long it’ll take for the English version of this film to debut in America.
It is available now!
@@ChaZd11 I know.
Well the video examples are available but the merchandise choices aren't out there yet. However Mavka holds me tighter than Saoirse the selkie. Mavka attracts me like when her stuff is selling in North America it'll be a little hard to control my joy.
I wanna watch so bad :)
🙏I hope you will have it in your cinema in original with subs💛
Where did you watch it in ukrainian? I only found it in english...
@@VERBA_SCHOOL це правда...
Does the movie respect the source material? Been burned by lets say disney for example for changing or tweaking other cultures folklore/ mythology for modern times and i think misses the mark for telling an actual mythology . It would be cooler for directors to boast 100% accuracy instead of "loosely based"
Get over it, it's not rare at all that modern writers don't think about peaking at old original scenes, even though that would be quite nice. With me it hasn't been the original myths expanding my imagination it's been my skills of peaking at how often the meaning of a single old word quietly changed, while studying the myths, legends, and folklore along with fantasy patiently.
Ukrainian mythology? Never heard of it.
Did you mean Slavic mythology?
Mythology of different Slavic nations of course have a lot of common feaurures, bit still has a lot of differences 😉
Can you suggest a book about Ukrainian mythology, please? I'd like to close this gap
