We are just mere mortals, Toy Man. Then we are faced with our mortality with the introduction of this fabulous locomotive. Something us mortals cannot attain. Words won't do this justice. Loved it. Greg and Jeanne.
I use to collect a lot of stuff when I was a kid back in the late 80's and 90's. Sucks I sold it all as a teenager not knowing what I hade! Makes me want to cry anytime I think about it. I mean now days it would have been worth 100's of thousands if not more. All of the old transformers. Cards. Trains. Models. If only!
We would need a box car train, just to bring everything we have to the train show!! Would take days and days to unload... The collection is substantial!!
I just added it up as best could. We’ve got about 60 large scale locomotives. And twice that in Ho. Then rolling stock....... I never sell anything it seems. What we need is a layout!!!!!!
Hello Dale & Karen; You should bring the engine down to American Restoration In Las Vegas and have Dale and his crew paint it to the engine you want it to look like, they do a very professional job on everything they do, as you have seen on the A&E channel they are very nice people to talk to. thanks, Steven C Notz
Hey Dale, hey Karyn. I love your videos. I hardly ever find your vids "borning!" I love any video that has to do with cars, trucks, trains, and planes. Keep up the good work. :)
Nicely presented and a beautiful start to a prolific company that really has changed the face of largescale over the last 20 years. I've kept 2 of these 4-4-0s (one Sonoma and one black undec) and 3 of the moguls (Glenbrook, an SPC version and one of the two preproduction versions of the 1920s NCNG #5). Love them and they run well too. I agree entirely, they scale well to 1:22.5 scale, at least the wheel base is spot on for that scale. Nice job presenting this guys!
Yes. Not sure why that called them 1/2" when they sure seem to be 1/22.5. At the time, it was assumed that the serious modelers were working in 1/2" so I guess that was their thinking. BUt 1:22.5 is better, I think. Looks reasonable with 1;20.3. 1/2 is just small. But our friend Don at one time was doing 1/2" but regauging to 1.5 inches. And these are amazing. The 1/2 scale is such a good size, large, but not huge. And regauging makes them correct.
I actually was thinking along the same line in the 1990s, that it would have been better to embrace 1/2" scale with option for 45mm gauge or 1.5" gauge and thus the huge array of 1/2" scale buildings, cars etc would all fit nicely. This is effectively what they did with On3, ON30, allowing both to work with 1/4" scale. Instead they decided to fragment the hobby, invent a whole new scale with 20.3, which didn't have anything existing to support it. Locos were huge and so on. I like the 20.3, and enjoy it, but it could have been a very different world had we embraced a 1/2" common scale with options on track gauge.
The track is so easy and such a small part of a scale. That it is allowed to rule the world this way is weird. In 1890 it made sense to standardize gauge only as few were following any scale. And what you wanted to do was be able to run your loco on someone else's track. But we should have gotten past that by 1910. 1/2" at 1.5 gauge was great. Gone but great. But I get it. So many #1 gauge railroads out there, so much track. So if you want correct, 1:20.3 scale. Fine. It works. But it's sure hard to fit.
Brilliant video guys! What an amazing locomotive, it looks heavy too! Now we need to see your H0 brass Union Pacific locomotives running - hint hint! 😉 Thumbs Up! 👍
Accucraft also marketed the brass DSP&PRR Way Car caboose as 1:20.3 but from original plans it measures up to 1:22.5. Most who own it will disagree until they go to the effort and measure it themselves alongside the original plans.
Not sure how or why they were doing this. As far as I know they never admitted to ever doing anything in 122.5 scale. And yet clearly they did! No matter, I’m just happy that these two early brass engines that are supposed to be in 1/2 inch scale are actually larger. I can even park them right alongside their 1/20.3 scale counterparts, without it looking peculiar. Or perhaps I should say terribly peculiar.
Hello again! Hope everything is going well there in Poland! If you guys need a new president we would be happy to loan you ours. You can even keep him.
Yup!! We are doing a super detailing show on the eureka. New pilot, Russia iron, wood load, e and p style soldered tin roof, real brass details wood cab and sound!!
Geeeezzz. Worked in films and tv for 10 years. Then started teaching film at university of Utah then Sierra Nevada then Brooks Institute all while still doing post production sound an stuff for film and tv. Now screwing around and doing sound for films. And stuff.
martin threms We both worked in education... I worked Pre-k and K-12 in public education. I was a substitute teacher, after school program, Summer Migrant Program, English as a Second Language, and Youth in Custody... My last assignment was ESL at the elementary level... Many, many students!!
UA-cam in their infinite wisdom changed the way we upload movies and as always they didn’t bother to tell us! The way it was working you would upload a movie, type in all of the information schedule it and then click on the schedule button. As of yesterday they changed it. Unless you schedule before uploading it it’s simply goes live as soon as it’s available. So I was typing in information and suddenly it was published! And they didn’t offer me any fix for that, so I had to take that movie down and re-upload it. This time following the new rules of scheduling it first! They change things just to make sure we’re paying attention.
No problem, thanks for the info. I thought that perhaps they had banned you for some reason known only to them. That would have made me very upset. By the way, 'UA-cam' and 'Infinite Wisdom' are cancelling subjects; oxymorons. Please don't get me started on censorship either or rewriting history by selective acceptance of videos. I'll shut up now.
AAAAHHHH!!!! THAT FOAM!!!! KILL IT WITH FIRE! *ahem* Actually... what I would do (because that foam rubber in the box will eventually degrade, and make a big 'ol mess of your train) would be to take the foam rubber, and wrap it in a nice bit of black cloth (protects the model from the foam, as well as dark colours make the model look nice when you open the box to show folks) Otherwise, foam rubber is evil, and you don't need that sort of negativity in your life.
We have encountered this situation.. We unpacked some of Dale's other brass locomotives that had been packed away for...... 15-20 years. The foam had totally turned into something beyond description! ICKY!!!! You are absolutely right! I go with a dark colored fabric.. even velvet.. to show off the model. Heck! They do this with jewelry! So often, I have made the comparison of some of these fine models to a fine piece of jewelry! Another shame is when something has to be packed away for years.... and not even have the opportunity to even be able to look at it! Such is life at times. But it is my goal for Dale to make up for the lost time.. and get our collectibles on proper display, and have the model railroad of our dreams!!!
Which is exactly why I do use velvet, or black flannel. If I'm story one of my HO engines, or cars, I want to do it in style! (I worked hard on those things, after all!)

They who die with most toys... if memories is all we really ever have then now is the best time to do a thing. Screwing around forever

I cry when I think of the stuff that got away. Jaguar XKE Porsche 914 6. Several 1/8 scale autos. A bunch of rare models.... geeeeezzzzz.
Wow! That is pretty neat! You've gotta bring your train collection to one of the next train shows!
We would need a box car train, just to bring everything we have to the train show!! Would take days and days to unload... The collection is substantial!!

Toy Man Television a layout? That sounds fun especially for those HUGE trains! I'm working on a tiny layout. But it will work!
Steven Notz I sent them an email quite sometime ago when I didn’t get back to me. I should try again!
I can't imagine that moving is ever easy for a collector such as yourself.
It’s a process
Wowzers that's so cool. Never boring
Their mogal in 1/2 inch scale is next week.
Hey Dale, hey Karyn. I love your videos. I hardly ever find your vids "borning!" I love any video that has to do with cars, trucks, trains, and planes. Keep up the good work. :)
Jason Carpp Hey, Jason! We sure enjoy making these shows! On an adventure today! Thanks... and thanks for your support!!
You're welcome. Keep up the good work. :)
Jason Carpp hi right back.

I was at a train store today and ALMOST got a Bachmann 1:20.3 4-4-0!! In SPC colors
It’s a great model! Not sure if they did a redo with metal gears. The early ones have nylon which tends to fail.. but ares are running great!
Brilliant video guys! What an amazing locomotive, it looks heavy too!
Now we need to see your H0 brass Union Pacific locomotives running - hint hint! 😉 Thumbs Up! 👍
I think the brass is 1/8 inch thick. At least 3/32. Heavy model. About 15 lbs. our k 36 is 40 lbs!!! Big heavy models
Beautiful!
They did a first-class job on this model
That is an incredible model,
Rick B aka Plastic butcher
Never sure if I should paint it. Think I will then change my mind
I just got the Eureka and Palisade #4 in G Scale yesterday
Doing a detailing show on that soon!!!
Beautiful engine!
Great start to a great company
I thought a lot about that, it would really depend on what decals I could find.

I go by the 10% rule or less for scale compatibility otherwise I will be waiting forever.
Accucraft do commissions for the European market in 1:22.5
Interesting!
That's a nice model; I costom paint my own models
I try to. Getting better. Another 60 years or so and I think I will have it down
Hey! Great Video! Thumbs Up!
Greetings From Poland! :)
Hello again! Hope everything is going well there in Poland! If you guys need a new president we would be happy to loan you ours. You can even keep him.
Toy Man Television Were fine. We have a not 100% ok President. Lets exchange presidents! 😂👍
Another good vidya, yall do a good job 💪🤘
🙏 thanks 🙏
Yes, I would send them another email or better yet call them direct and let them know who you are also. Thanks, Steven
Steven Notz should look them up. Look like good people
Accucraft Still makes that locomotive but in live steam.
This was a weird version. Really 1:22.5 scale. Unique fir them.
You should do one on the Bachman model of the Eureka
Yup!! We are doing a super detailing show on the eureka. New pilot, Russia iron, wood load, e and p style soldered tin roof, real brass details wood cab and sound!!
Zonk! Not the Blue Button...
Need to come up with a better way of doing the new blue button! Wish they just let us use our old one. No matter, life and the blue button move on.
What was your job went you got up at the morning 😀
Geeeezzz. Worked in films and tv for 10 years. Then started teaching film at university of Utah then Sierra Nevada then Brooks Institute all while still doing post production sound an stuff for film and tv. Now screwing around and doing sound for films. And stuff.

Did you try and upload this last night? I got notified that you had uploaded a video, but when I went to the channel....it wasn't there.
Oldman 1 - me too.

May not work but dang it’s staying put!
