That is an excellent introduction to live steam, which is something I’m very tempted to get into, especially with the affordability of the Dora! How would one go about making the throttle radio or wifi controlled?
Should I be able to fill the boiler through the goodall valve when the valve is cold? I can't seem to get any water through my valve unless I pull the tube back and expose the hole. I'm using the supplied 50ml syringe that I received with my kit and it won't even push air through.
I am new to Live Steam Locomotives. I have a O gauge locomotive with no Water Tender. Where can I fine Live Steam O Gauge Track or is the Lional O Gauge track ok ??
@jeff shackleford the sheat of iron that makes up the cab floor is called the footplate on the ruby the gas bottle thread stud goes on the left on the rear hole the displacement lubricator goes over the front hole careful they are easy to strip the threads on, I found its best to place a small donut of electrical tape around the bottom rim to help prevent it from rocking and turning lose I also found that the bottle get too cold fast and that cutting a heat sink to the height of the bottom of the gas bottle ID plate and bending it around a slightly undersize sanded wood cylinder to a snug fit on the gas bottle and placed on the boiler facing side and tied with thin wire helps the gas absorb heat to boil faster and feed the burner in cool environments [edit] butane gas filler valve m5 sorry just woke up and didn't comprehend what you were asking until I woke up :)
Great video!!
Looks interesting. I may want to try live steam model trains. Where can I buy the supplies?
there are two knobs on the Ida / Ruby... how does the throttle work?

Very easily.

You mentioned Iso-Butane having a higher pressure, will this make the locomotive run longer?

I love my ruby kit
What is the area that you put the butane canister on to fill it with gas called?
