Preston Covell yeah man. Up here in Washington State the price for non-residents is ten times the price of residents. A non-resident elk tag here is almost $500.

Jennifer Small That’s not the case with elk. They’re not spooky with limbs breaking and the noise of brush. If anything, it draws them in.
Rocky Mountain elk are a lot bigger than Roosevelt elk, lol Rocky Mountain elk are the biggest in America

Yes, you’re correct. RM elk are indeed bigger. Body and antlers.
Average bull Rocky Mountain elk is in the 650-750 range average bull Roosevelt 850-950

You guys should consider trying a few where you just do Eric's hunt start to finish and then go to the OR hunt start to finish. See what feedback you get. Not sure which format would be better but so far the jumping back and forth is a bit annoying.

Over 500 dollars for a tag! That's unbelievable to me! I know most of it goes to a good cause but that sucks for the hunter... Not to mention the travel costs to get there.
I enjoy hunting but y’all can keep that. $570 for an elk? Nope. Too much. Plus the trip and equipment... I can buy a grass fed all natural beef and be guaranteed the meat for what y’all spent.
The meat is a bonus, the overall experience and camaraderie is what hunting is all about and that's a heck of a bargain.
I agree with you about the experiences and friendships built while exploring and seeing new things. However, as regards the meat being a bonus, I must ask, if who told you this lie? Hunting for centuries has always been done as a means for much needed food. Bonus? No. That’s the primary reason. It’s the hunting industry that has pushed the idea you just echoed. Sorry pal. $570 represents 5 years worth of hunting as a resident in a lot of states which translates into far more meat taken, more friendships and more stories.
Roberto Aiello The meat is the “primary reason?!” Then go buy your grass fed beef if that’s the primary reason. Hell, you can buy a bunch of farm raised elk if that’s the case. These guys wanted to do another hunt with the BAR crew. THAT’S the primary reason. If that’s too much for you or you don’t agree with non-resident fees, stick to hunting at home and don’t force your ideals on anyone else. Very simple.
I have no issue with them wanting to do a hunt with the BaR crew. I appreciate the value of spending time with friends. But if you don’t think the main reason of hunting is meat, then you need to get head out of your sphincter. C’mon man, hanging with buddies and then casually taking a living things life for gits and shiggles is barbaric. Show the animal some friggin respect.
😂🤣 good one. Seriously though, I can see how it looks that way, but I’m not jealous. I helped a two friends pack out their elk in less difficult terrain than that and all I was thinking was the heck with it. I’ve never desired to pack out an elk from miles back. Sounds like work to me. But I give props to those that do. Y’all are some crazy abd tough dudes. I’ll hike areas like that swampy area for fun, but not hunt. That’s just me.
