- Here's some behind the scenes video and photos of the Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) in Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan, as well as some APC footage from the movie.
Danger Close is out now On Demand and Digital.
We secured the use of four M113 AS4 (stretched) APC's and one M113 A1 which was actually commanded by Lt Adrian Roberts in the Battle of Long Tan, from the Australian Army as well as active Army personnel to help transform them, maintain them and operate them. The Vietnam era M113 A1 was used for stationary scenes and the internal APC scenes with 6RAR Commanding Officer Lt Col Colin Townsend.
The talented team from the Australian Army Amoured Corp and our Production Design team did considerable work on the AS4's to make them look as close as possible to the Vietnam era M113 A1's. All the accessories were identical to what was on them during the Battle of Long Tan.
The APCs were trucked all the way from the Army's Gaza Ridge Barracks in Bandiana Victoria and from the School of Armour at Puckapunyal to our Nerang set on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia - more than 1400km each way.
All of the Australian Army personnel are in the movie.
Special thanks to the team from the Australian Army:
Captain Sheldon Toto
Warrant Officer Class One Mark "Smiley" Moran
Warrant Officer Class Two Socrates Lekatis
Warrant Officer Class Two Tony Millers
Warrant Officer Class Two Rocky Hema
Sergeant Steve Kahler
Trooper Shaun O'Donnell
Trooper Jacob Tweedale
Trooper Justin Lay
Trooper Jake Deadman
Lance Corporal Brody Young
Trooper John Porajski
Trooper James West
Trooper William Roberts

Only the ppl that know the M113 APC would notice the late model fuel tanks. Still need to see this film.
It’s an absolutely fantastic film !! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I don't know if it was either budget or time, but the Blu Ray release of "Danger Close" was bare bones for a movie collector. Stuff like this certainly appeases the hungry curiosity for wanting more.
Thanks for posting.
........got anymore?
Fabulous. It’s great to see behind the scenes. Thank you for sharing. I got buy one of those M113 ♥️
Thanks for the sharing. Beautiful landscape...
Many thanks. It's great.
I will start with this, the movie, well done. About time we had more Australian Military movies. The "chipped paint" to bare metal on car was a nice touch, however, on the trimvane??
LOL Socs Lekatis was in this???- he was an awesome dude - knew him as a Tpr back in Holsworthy- 90-92, he was I think a 76 Gunner for either PJ or man that other skinny SGT...just can't think of his name. Bsqn - 3 TP I think.
Going Puckapunyal
6 sets of road wheels.... instead of 5. Still, put a horn on a jellyfish.....
This Townsend seemed like a fool.

What do you mean 'ripped off'? Who did you rent it from because whoever you 'rented' it from are the only people who can deal with any complaints you have. Movies are licensed to different platforms in each country for sale or rental, e.g. iTunes, Google Play, UA-cam Movies, Playstation Store, Microsoft/Xbox Store etc. They make the film available on their platforms in each country depending upon their rights, and they accept any payments, not the film's producers.
