- This is a quick review over the features and functions of a 2018 Honda CR-V EX. If you're thinking about buying one or already purchased one then this is a quick tutorial on the features of the car.
I am buying this car tomorrow. Thank you for this tutorial for the navigation workings of this spaceship. I am trading in my 2003 Civic for this modern sorcery. Lol!

Just started driving our CRV & had no idea it even had all these features. My little convertible had none of this. I barely knew how to start this CRV. The battery had gone dead & it was a little scary til I figured out how to reset all the various features. Some just reset on their own.
Amazing vehicle, hope I never have to go back. It even warned me when a car started to back into me in a parking area at the grocery store!!!!
My 2018 CRV shift lever panel isn’t lighting up. Is there a way to adjust that? It’s hard to tell what gear you are in a night time.
In settings you can set the clock type and wallpaper that goes behind the clock, however, where does this show up when its set? MY main screen is always either on Home, Android Auto, or the radio.. is this where that setting would show up? if so, how do you access it? I have seen photos of the Accord and the clock with wallpaper shows up on the upper level screen. Just wondering if this is just built in across all models and only accessible on those that have the second upper screen?
Thank for doing one on the EX, most seem to be on the Touring, and a few on the LX. EX seem to be the best option for me.
Richard Switzer I agree, I think bang for your buck this is by far the best model. It offers the most for the least in cost. And I found that you can add leather to a vehicle or you can add the power tailgate that you throw your foot under. I think it's a great Buy!
ck out the differences b/n EX and EX-L. i wanted the power rear gate - not available on EX. told only EX-L and higher
The powered tailgate is offered as an add-on by Honda. So you can buy and EX model and add that to it.
justin fuller not likely, Honda doesn’t do stuff like that. Other then dealer installed accessories, ether it has it or it’s another model.
Your reply disappeared, but what you are installing is a aftermarket kit. Which is fine for some people, but I rather it be a Honda item myself.
I also worked at a Honda dealer for 28 years up to a few years ago, and still connected.
Does the hr have bacl camera and a blind spot monitor? If so which trims have those features????

My new 2018 CRV EX/L has an annoying behavior. When stopped in Drive, with my foot on the brake the rpm is approximately 750 , but when I take my foot off, the rpm increases to about 1100-1200 which results in a slight surge forward. Normally not a problem, but when parking in my house garage, if I stop then try to creep forward the car wants to go faster than I want it to. Is this normal?

Also, on the truck I noticed there are 2 push in buttons; 1 that opens the trunk & the other I have no idea but it does have grooves..

Here is a video on how to add pictures. - ua-cam.com/video/MJfgP_93tBw/v-deo.html One of the buttons on the tailgate opens it and the other you can touch to lock the doors, just like the button on the door handle you can touch to lock the doors. This is where keyless entry comes into play.
Does this model has a trunk opener inside the car?
Great startup video, On the remote start is there an option to keep the parking lights blinking instead of only three times?
I do not know that there is a way to do that. Sorry.
Love my EX, but the ipod issues are beyond frustrating. Had it in the dealer for repair for over a month since August when I purchased it. Even attempted Lemon Law on it, but the firm I used was not good and it fell through. Bluetooth is only way it works. If you hook it up via cable, you'll have issues.

I have this vehicle have to take to the dealer Monday my drivers side back window is squealing.I'm thinking it needs some silicon spray but Iam gonna have dealer look at it. Only 6 days of having it
when doing auto start in the morning, if I have my heat from the night before on HI does it warm up my car? Or is it warming the engine/defrost?
Remote start will attempt heat/cool the interor to 70 degrees no matter what the temp is. In reality, the oil dilution recall update has disabled preheating. At idle the CRV will not heat up AT ALL or defrost windshield. No matter how long you let it idle, it will not heat up.
Does the car engine must always be on in order to access the features that you explained? Even the radio?
You can hit the start button with out your foot on the brake. This will just turn the electronics of the car on. Not sure if this answers your questions...

Angela the car does not offer a CD player. All of our vehicles are moving away from them.
Hey Justin , I have a 2018 crv ex the floor in driverside is soaking wet i look for any water leak it seems is coming from under the dashboard like were the fuses are but im not sure. Any ideas or anyone with sameproblem ?
I would check the AC drain.

@@LorenaTaylor143 yes. Just know with turbo there is a hesitation when you need to go. If a door or hatch isn’t closed just right I get 5 beeps which drives me crazy. However, I would buy the vehicle over again.

@@LorenaTaylor143 Also the gas saving feature is only for highway or where you are not needing to stop and go in traffic. You need to power incase you need to move fast.
Can you adjust the display to show a speedometer guage instead of a tachometer gauge and numerical mph only?
The speedometer is digital so you will already have that available to you. You can turn the tachometer on and off.

My Honda Crv 2018 won't show me how many miles I have left, fuel wise. I've tried everything. it only alerts me when its low fuel
At 2:50, in upper tight-hand corner is a diddle stick. What is its purpose? I can't find it in the manual.
This will allow you you to toggle through the trip A, trip B and see just mileage at the bottom of the display. You will notice right now it is just showing the mileage of 38 there.
Do you think power lift gate is worth the extra money?
Really depends on the person. To me no, but the EXL (which has it) also comes with leather, and a few other extras....
Do you know if you can add an automatic dimming rear view mirror and leather steering wheel to the EX model?
You can add a auto dimming mirror through Honda. The leather steering wheel is not an option to add on.

Why does the CarPlay keep staying internet appears to be offline on 2018 Honda CRV EX-L? What setting needs to change or is this an issue with CarPlay?

This sounds like the cellphone is telling it there is no internet. The internet link is only as good as the cellphone connection.
Are you able to dim the light on the screen? Mine will either turn off or on. Even with the brightness all the way down it will still be bright.
There is a dimer button in the bottom left portion of the touchscreen. You can tap it once, and the a slider will appear from there you can select an exact brightness. If you just keep taping the dimmer button you have fully bright, medium, and black.

for the usb port to play media - what is the maximum starage drive i can use on this car 128 GB ?
SO I got with my service department to see what they could tell me about this. I was told it will read a 64GB drive. However everytime you start up the car it is going to try and read the drive before playing anything. This process could take a while. So, it was recommended to maybe go with 32GB. You can go higher, it just may take sometime to read the drive to start.

The HR-V and CR-V seat 5 people. If you are interested in a Honda SUV that seats 7- people you will need to be in a Pilot.

None of the CRV models offer rear heated seats.

The EX model does have heated seats. The controls are right under the AC knobs under the touch screen.
The navigation feature is included in this car?
Hugo Salcedo navigation does not come standard in this vehicle. However, you can plug your phone into the USB and pull the navigation off your phone onto the touchscreen. It uses a program called Apple carplay, or Android auto depending on what type of phone you have.
I'd rather use android auto or apple car play. Use google maps or waze.
Can you tell me what the difference is between a sunroof vs a moonroof?
It used to be that a sunroof did not open and a moonroof did. But now, I think most makers use the terms interchangeably.

It does have heated seats. It doe snot have a heated steering wheel.

I would do a hard restart. Unplug the battery terminals from the battery and wait about 5 minutes then reconnect and restart the car. That should take care of this.
How do you change the 3 blink turn signal to 5 blinks

Sorry I meant to say when I touch the passenger door from the outside and all the doors lock. When I touch the driver door from the outside only the driver door unlocks.
In the vehicle settings on the touch screen you can go to remote key entry option and affect those changes

what does the numbers on the top corners mean?
That is the temperature for the AC/heat. You can control left and right side separate of each other.
How do you connect the navigation maps
If you have iPhone just plug into the USB on the dash. It will prompt you with a few things and then select the Apple CarPlay button on the home screen.
If you have an Android based phone, download the Android Auto App, and hten follow the instructions above.
Unless the 18 is changed from the 17, it only runs for ten minutes per remote start... it can be remote started twice which might be where you are getting twenty minutes, but it’s only 10 minutes at a time

hann pan What? Do you mean the right-side mirror cam like on the other models? No, they use the more useful blind-spot warning (amber light on mirror). Nobody makes a left side mirror.
so does EX have Apple car play?? memory seats??
It does have apple carplay. you would need to be on an ex-l model to get memory seating.
Looks like there is not a CD player in any of the EX models; how does one listen to their CDs?
You can always put that same music on a thumb drive and plug it into the USB port. Outside of that you would have to buy a portable CD player and a bluetooth adapter.

It is not a powered tailgate in the EX model. If you are looking for that you would need to go to the EXL or Touring model.

Car gets great gas mileage and has a good amount of cargo space. I would imagine it should work well for most people.

You would just be looking to turn the clock completely off or switch to the analog clock then...
Is it no navigation on home screen?
That would come through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and there is a button for that on the home screen.

kudus Animashaun there is no CD player in this vehicle. A lot of the new Honda lines don't offer me anymore. Everything is going to be connected through USB or wirelessly through Bluetooth.

On the EX you can unlock it off the FOB. If you are looking for a powered tailgate, that would be on the EXL and above models.

The next model up, the EXL, offers homelink. That would allow you to connect your garage clicker to the car.
Can I use radio when engine is shut off?
yes you can. Without putting your foot on the brake if you press the start button with the key inside the vehicle it will turn on the electronics and allow you to listen to the stereo.

Have same model. The remote start runs for TEN minutes, not 20. And, you press lock button twice before pressing remote start.
If you remote start the vehicle then press the sequence again it will extend the run time.
It's a great SUV, however, the dealer cannot or will not fix the erratic auto walk-away lock.
Where is the CD player?
Almost all of Honda's new lineup does not offer a CD player anymore. Most people take advantage of Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, the USB input, etc instead.

I think it runs for 10 minutes and can be restarted for another 10...
The remote start will run for 10 minutes. You can press the sequence on the keyfob and extend it another 10 minutes.
