Agreed. I was expecting a few comments of the like as that is a pretty good series.... but wow.... they took over. XD

Bad idea uploading this video. Rounders are gonna find you.

btw, John Titor needs this
Ahahahah
That’s why I’m here again. My General Electric time machine brought me back here so I could find it. I’ve got to get back soon. Thank you
John Titor needs to retrieve that computer.
I had the same thought ;) when I saw this.
But that boner-confusing Rukako broke it

he already did
USE IT TO HACK SERN
Everyone's getting mixed up. You use an _IBN_ 5100 to hack _SERN_; and both of those things are fictional.
HOWEVER, you might use an _IBM_ 5100 to hack _CERN_, both of which are real.
*****
Thanks for the Clarification, I am not very much a fan of Japanese visual novels, I just read and learn about of what he was referring to...
YES

THIS COMPUTER SO COOL~
El. Psy. Congroo.
This was my first experience with an IBM computer back in 1980. Used a specially developed app to help do optimizations for animal feed at the headquarters of a leading regional farmers Co - op.
It broke one day, an IBM "CE" came out to fix it. Asked him how to get a job fixing these things, he pointed me to where to send in my resume, and 2 weeks later was hired my IBM as a CE. Started a long and wonderful career in IT.
This was the time when Apple II's, TRS-80's, Commodore PETs, and CP/M computers were available. Good times.

In 1978, this was the first computer I ever professionally programmed. I was a work-study student at Ohio State University, and I computerized the inventory of the fixed asset department. Learned how to spell vacuum, too. There is a switch for APL (IBM's universal language {A Programming Language that failed) and a version of basic. The tape cartridge could store large arrays of data. Totally cool, back then.
El Psy Kongroo
IBM loaned one of those to us at Golden West College for a while. GWC and her sister Orange Coast College had quite a few APL programmers and students.
I also used this in 1978, borrowing a couple of times from my Dad's friend at IBM. I learned to program on it, (thousands of lines of code, which was difficult because the Basic language seemed to support only 10,000 line numbers) mostly in Basic because the APL was a little confusing to me at that age. I never thought to open it up, so this video was enlightening for me.
1:51 Well, that's one way to break an infinite loop...
Isn't preforming a hard poweroff on the device always the way fix to a problem? >:D
theLuigiFan0007 it's not the solution when it isn't powering on :p
that damn sound though
When you turned it on, I seriously began to worry about spacetime continuum integrity.
Seeing you take it apart so nonchalant after I've been looking for one so long. Ooof
So it does exist...
This computer may save the future 2036.

How amazing to see such high quality imagery of this. Unfortunately this is not one of the 64KB BASIC/APL models. (It is missing the switch that toggles the two languages). For those Stein's;Gate or John Titor fans, he would need the APL model, so this one is staying in the past.
I was about to ask if anyone else was here because of this computer's pivotal role in the plot from - Steins;Gate ;)
Lol! i think most people commenting here have watched steins gate...
The way this thing is assembled is a piece of art. It is of no surprise John Titor came back in time to get one.
What a wonderful old machine, thanks for showing it to us, people forget how far we've come. Machines like this one laid the foundation for the computers (and that includes phones) everyone is watching UA-cam on.
Just looked it up, it had an IBM "PALM" processor running at 1.9 GHz, 16 KB to 64 KB of RAM and sold from $8,975 for the 16k model to $19,975 for the 64k unit. (Thanks Wikipedia). That's in 1975 dollars folks, $19,975 translates to over $86,000 of today's inflated dollars!
1.9 GHz in 1975 sounds scarily quick.
Opps... it's 1.9 MHz, I'm used to typing GHz, sorry about that!
This reply is from the futurue. No, not from 2036, but from 2023. Just a note that even now there are refusnks like me, who prefer the generous real estate of a large desktop monitor over a palm sized device.
So did the computer screen finish loading when the number 5100 showed up? I'm just asking out of the curiosity of a maddo scientist.
El Psy Congroo.
I got the pleasure of using one of these gems at my community college for a programming class. What an awesome machine!
One of the first machines to offer a turn key Basic it also had APL as an option which was normally only available on mainframes.
The only two machines I know that offered that feature prior was the HP 9830A and the Wang 2200 but they only offered Basic.
Most small machines from the era such as the Altair 8800 and IMSAI 8080 made famous from war games needed a boot loader toggled in or had a simple boot rom and then Basic had to be loaded off paper tape.
I've played Final Fantasy XIV on this with max setting.. it's flawless

John titor 😥😢😢😨😨😨
Its fake
+Kinfee D no way
John Titor was 100% real. But you cant expect his worldline to be identical to ours. That goes against what we know of the multiverse. All possibilities are playing side by side in the quantum universe at the same time. Basically Titor's catalyst e vent that launched the world on to a path towards civil war, martial law, nuclear WW3 was the Y2K bug. In ours? 9/11.
His 2004 is more like our 2016 only more technologically advanced in society and more dumbed down in divided.
Titor said there was civil unrest before the 04' elections. Unrest is growing before our 16' elections. He said by 2005 our 2017 that a civil war would begin with standoffs by patriots against the Federal government and their Federalized police, that grew and grew and that major cities became unsafe due to civil unrest by protestors. We have already seen the patriot movement growing, and just recently in Oregon a standoff against the Federal government by militia and patriots. Obama put together the program to continue the militarization of the police and a federalization program.
Titor said a nuclear WW3 was kicked off when a European Army based out of Germany moved on to Russia's border in the Baltics. Right now Germany is spearheading the effort to put together a European Army outside of NATO and are starting to do war games this summer in the Baltics near Russia's borders. Russia has been condemning NATO and the EU about it, and calls it provocation for war.
Titor said CERN would discover time travel when doing high energy experiments to detect other dimensions and create mini black holes. They are 100% doing that now.
Titor said that China would advance on the U.S. The Spratley islands in the South China sea is the trigger that is pitting the U.S. Navy and Chinese Navy against each other.
Titor said China annexed Taiwan before "N-Day" China is very aggressive towards Taiwan right now and has said they would consider annexing Taiwan by force.
Titor said in the future there are high speed trains that connect major cities. Elon Musk is developing Hyperloop trains to connect major cities.
Titor said computers are immensely more advanced and faster. We now have quantum computing and is currently in its infancy.
Titor said after N-Day WW3 people came together at Universties which were turned in to "forts" to rebuild communities by patriots. As of this year the Oathkeepers organization has begun to create chapters at Universities to help create "Community Preparedness Teams"
Shall I go on???
The Hour of The Time yes but the this is my theory of which why it didn't happen it was probley because
A he informed us about the events leading up to the future and we some how took precaution
B he altered the future himself
The Hour of The Time and yes you may go on heck I already read all of his posts
Mr.braun probably bought this ibm
but can it play Crysis?
I've tried GTA V on it ,smooth and perfect :D
opening the menu alone could take more than 2 years.
no, there is no GPU so the game would show up as bionary code (a lot of bionary code)
V PLAYZ you calling me a lair?!
No, but it can hack CERN
I worked using this model computer for some parts of my job. It was too expensive for most people to buy for home use. In its time it was a fantastic computer!

This was the first laptop that I used for work in IBM. There was also an APL ( A Programming Language ) option. I programmed APL and connected to the mainframe via a 134.5 baud modem..... It was hard to run through airports with a 35lb laptop. :-)
Where is Okabe and Daru!?
So Steins Gate and John Titor were real?

Steins gate is a visual novel/manga/anime. John Titor is maybe real-.
john titor ,SERN ,IBM 5100 , they all were Real ,look at them in Wikipedia ;-;
I'm starting to believe that SERN or someone is gonna create a Real time machine soon!
Maybe.

I learned programming on one of these at my local community college. These are great machines.
Okay so it can hack SERN and stop a multi-world line time conspiracy...
...but can it run Crysis?
there is no GPU all it can run is numbers and words. so, NO

It was used a controller basically. you could hook it up to whatever sized storage device you wanted to that was ibm. It had simple business programs
Im afraid to ask what it cost.
That red switch is so cool. I want it on my current PC.
John Titor: "How can I debug IBM system programs without a 5100?! I must go back in time to retrieve it!"
Smug Wendy: "I think Titor-kun forgot emulators existed for a minute." *laughs smugly
Nice little piece of history you have there :)

Oh god, thanks... I'm watching the anime and thought that was a spoiler...
Cut my teeth on that. Use to go with my dad in the 70's to the IBM office and play football on the demo machine there. Late 70' I went to work with IBM as a CE, got trained on 5100, new 5110 with 8 in diskettes, the 026, 029 and 129 keypunches, and the 3741. What fun, you had to work and be mechanically inclined to fix these.
Great computer. This was a revolution back in 1970s, when all computers were huge clunky shitboxes weighing hundreds of kilos.
It-it's beautiful...I've never seen a more beautiful thing in my life. And such beautiful sounds it makes. oh my soul
I had one of these then lost it when I switched to another time line :(

Sir I need that computer more than you could imagine how much would it take for you to part with it
Yeah Steins;Gate brought me here somehow. Oh well.

You can see a lot of veteran weebs here
This computer is as old as I am! Besides showing a bunch of numbers, what does it do? I know it's can't do the things that todays or even what computers of the 80's can do, but what was it made to do?

Wrong. Kongroo is the correct spelling. The Anime got it wrong. It's Kongroo in the VN and the original script.

It could run most single-job 370 software with little or no modification. Because all the logic is in microcode, custom instructions could also be implemented.
