    Time stamps are frequently overlooked, but SO appreciated!

    Thank you for acknowledging how much the market has changed in the past couple years. It really is true, buses that would’ve cost $2,000 a few years ago are now $10,000. It’s really wild.

      Oh my goodness yes! I feel for everybody trying to buy a bus right now. The prices have really been jacket up! I was curious and started scanning FB marketplace last night to see how much we would likely pay right now for the same exact bus as ours. Couldn't find one with as low of miles as the one we found.

    Is that the cost of the solar system that caught fire?

    • @bonafideoutside
      @bonafideoutside  2 роки тому +2

      yes! but just to clarify that was the smart charge controller that caught fire from the bus engine connection. We bought a cheap one so that we could charge the solar from our engine while driving. Big mistake and not a good spot to cut costs 😂we did not include that in our cost breakdown or links

    Thank you for all the tips! We have been looking into Renogy for our solar as well, would you recommend them, and have you guys had any problems with your solar?

    • @bonafideoutside

      We're happy to share! We purchased most of our solar parts from renogy and they're worked great for us, we recommend them.We did have one issue with our solar system after installing a smart charge controller that was supposed to charge our solar off of our bus batteries while driving. I guess it was too much for it to handle because it caused a small electrical fire! It likely happened because we installed the cheapest one we could fine but regardless we will never mess with one of those again.😅

    I’m from gun lake area, just north of Kalamazoo :) I’ve wanted to live tiny forever and bus life was like an epiphany moment. Any words of encouragement? Thank you for all the resources you’ve put out so far!

      Love Gun Lake!! We grew up in Gull Lake. We always say just make the first step - get the bus!! It’s been a life changing journey for us and we wouldn’t trade it for anything. You can absolutely do it, conversion & living.

    Good job guys! That spreadsheet will be a great tool for so many people just starting or looking to get into a build. We went through similar things when building our bus, time vs money on trying to get it done quickly. You built a beautiful home! See you guys down the road!

      @@bonafideoutside This is great. I have downloaded in XLS and started adding a few columns for my use. For those who may be doing similar, I inserted 2 columns between B&C (making your total column now E). My "C" is estimated (based on what things currently cost) and "D" will be filled in later with what I actually spend.
      Thanks for making this resource available to others. I'm currently in the planning stages of my build. I plan on making a UA-cam channel as well and once the plans are a little more concrete I will even be seeking sponsors in advance (I have what I believe is a fairly unique theme for both the build and on-going content once completed).

      @@bonafideoutside I watch tons of builds from Vans,Skoolies,Box Trucks, Step Vans, Cargo Trailers etc.. and I’m always shocked at the total cost of a build but then I think to myself if it’s your full time home and not just a recreational vehicle it’s totally worth it.

    Nice job with the new additions I suspect that diesel heater makes things cozy and warm, I’m curious thou aren’t you able to hook them directly into the main diesel tank
