I was scrolling through the front page and the thumbnail "first drive in the drift truck" came up. Got all hyped up and then realized it was when you were towing it around the shop 6 months ago.

That bung is probably going to have to be moved higher up
The bung on my Flyin Miata kit is a very similar location and has been for years. Oil will still drain out of the turbo. Why do you think it needs to be moved up?
Gingium it needs to be above the level where oil will sit in the pan otherwise it will not drain properly and cause the turbo to smoke. Especially with these cheap turbos.
@@destin6041 you're correct, can cause the turbo to have too much oil pressure I think? Probably not good for the turbo either

Turn the turbo around and rise the oil return bung up around an inch so the sump oil doesn't block the return pipe, extending the life of the turbo :)
That oil drain is to low needs to be higher on the pan so oil doesn’t sit in the line just better for the turbo just trying to be helpful
And I think so too the oil can stay in the line
Will not drain properly and the car will most likely smoke
@@dimo956 ….oil shouldn't be staying in the return line. The main purpose is to dump back into the oil pan as fast as possible. That's how you burn up the seal on the turbo.

Can't you change the direction the turbo is facing to other side like normal boosted civics
It's not even meant to be mounted like that, it was made to be facing the opposite direction. That is why they had to mess with the boost piping. It normally goes out in front of the driver side tire
Also, buy a real kit or just make yourself a "kit"
thats what I was thinking it should mount to the manifold the other way but wasn't sure what that would do to the intercooler piping, maybe that is why it needed to be modified.

This is literally the exact same kit I put in my first gen tC. Its surprisingly a good kit for what your paying for.
The only thing though. Mine faces the opposite way.

People usually cut the crash bar to put the intercooler higher, because unless it's really that small it will scrape on things.
Also isn't that oil drain kinda low on the oil pan ?
It is pretty small. It fits under the stock bumper so I'm sure it'll be fine!

@10:30 just turn it the other way? thats how mine is, but i think your manifold is the ac compatible one. and upon further inspection, it seems it is cause the way the downpipe is made.
The reason why they face the turbo away from the right is because you can actually fit the AC and power steering pump, in some engines there's absolutely no space.

No it's not bad, I would have had the turbo face the other direction so it would clear
Question... If you were going to thread the oil pan bung in and use JB weld to seal it, Why not use the aluminium bung that came with the kit ?
Bad placement and I really think the JB Weld wasn’t needed whatsoever. But what do I know?

Hey Gingium, I don't want to kick the dead horse but the drain is low. Highest as possible is the best since it helps the oil drain back into the pan from gravity. Keep up the good work and I love the fact you are boosting a B-series!
Wikto it’s low but it’s not way too low, the oil sits a quite a bit lower than that especially when running

The turbo is on the wrong side the cold side is to close to the transmission the downpipe wont fit because its on the wrong side and the intercooler piping will get in the way of the downpipe too

also the manifold is designed like that so you can retain ac and power steering if u so desire. atleast thats how it looks
Pretty sure that oil drain is too low. It should be almost at the highest point on the pan, you don't want oil getting backed up in it.
A legit way of tightening
They find out the turbo on that side do you can have room for ac if you want to run it

If you have an issue with the turbo having clearance then you can grind off a little from the block (right under the engine code stamp) and a little off from the casting to the right of it
With that turbo kit you can run AC and power steering that's why there's so much space on the right lol
Also definitely shouldn't use those cheap gaskets that they include. Either stainless or Copper gasket sealant

I really hate to be that guy, but having the oil return higher would of been more ideal. I had smoke issues with one of my oils Honda’s from it being to low.

you didn't just bolt an aluminum intercooler directly to a braced section of the car? it needs bushings or some flex or it will crack within a month.

I want to get a really cheap car and build it with only Ebay and Craigslist parts, maybe Amazon, just to see what all I can get out of it, exhaust will sound abysmal but I'm wondering how much performance you can get using those websites only
That looks like a save ac and ps manifold you could have ac and ps if you want plenty of room
All that space is because you have an AC saver kit. They're a God send for the people who hate the heat lol

The reason the turbo is on that side is because he baught the AC friendly one or it would be on the other side I just don't get one thing no low compression pistons man your brave it will blow up in no time

Please start putting grease on bolts and nuts! You will be surprised at house much easier it is to take stuff back apart for secondary and tertiary mods/upgrades
