Will you come with me? Won't you come with me? There's no better place to take a long strange trip with the Grateful Dead than right here. We've got music from every single studio album and a bevy of live albums, to boot. There are celebrated live performances from the 70s and 80s and official videos with more skeletons than you can shake your bones at, an exclusive seaside series on what's to come from the band's rich catalog and details on meet-ups all across the promised land. If it's community you’re after, try your hand at our yearly DEAD COVERS PROJECT competition and connect with fellow Dead Heads around the world. Heck, keep your eyes peeled you might even catch a glimpse of Pigpen on keys, Jerry in a GROOVE, Bobby tellin' tales, Mickey talkin' space, Phil and friends, Bill on the beach, or anyone from our extended family.
It's all happenin' right here. Subscribe and you won't miss a thing.
#GratefulDead #AllTheYearsLive
Any show opening with Terrapin is historic. Phil is captured perfectly on thus recording, What an incredible show, very noteworthy. 77 is for me, all about Phil Lesh.
Thank you to everyone involved for all your hard work producing these releases. Really looking forward to this one. I live for ‘77 Betty Boards.
Thanks for all the Oregon Love
I think it's amazing that you source material from quality tapers, essentially releasing an official matrix. I doubt many people will complain if it gets us full shows. Many thanks, looking forward to hearing the upgrade.
Dave, I could listen to you talk for hours. Keep up the great work! I do miss the seagulls, though....
10/2/77.
One of my all-time favorite shows.
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you!
I like the office chat 👍🏼
so happy to pre-order and not worry about getting Dave's Picks individually! Also now thinking that instead of putting them by numerical order, maybe I should put them in order of the date of the concert!!
Definitely in chronological order! I have everything they’ve released and once I put them in date order it really opened up the exploring of tours and eras.
Wow, I just had that same thought. Put them all in the right order.
Love the office chat for a change of scene! Nice GD bling on the walls! Looking forward to my subscription arrival. Thank you Dave for all your efforts!
Why we love Dave.
Mine arrived yesterday afternoon and I'm doing the happy dance. Great picks, Dave. Keep up the good work. Thanks to all you wonderful people for keeping the Dead alive.
Cannot wait for my copy, thank you so much Dave for keeping the Dead alive !
Looking forward to this one to start off the year!
If memory serves these were the first shows with Jerry playing Wolf since 1974.
Dave, thanks for all you do!
Great stuff
yes
Dave! 4-27/28-85! Take listen. Frost Amphitheater magic! ( 10-10-82 is also the cat's nuts! )
Outstanding! Thanks for putting the time in. We appreciate all you do for us a Dead history.
Also, I love that Europe 72 poster behind you. I like Office Talk. You're on your game.
Been hoping for these shows for a long time, thanks dave!
I look so forward to these videos, and of course the music that follows.
It arrived in the mail today -- listening as I "work" right now. Wonderful recording. Listening to GD SXM channel this weekend, I caught the 11/9/79 Buffalo show (which was my third show), and honestly believe it deserves consideration as a pick--the second set is true barn burner and the set 1 Jack Straw closer was worth the price of admission!
Dave , have you ever listened or focused on the UCLA, Pauley show late June 80, w a Estimated -Scarlet-Fire and lee Oscar on harp. A favorite of mine.
Very cool release. Love the Oregon-based stuff...I'm writing close to Pendleton/Hermiston where much of the Dead's crew hailed from; Hagen, Rex and Ramrod to name a few.
Great job Rhino and Diamond Dave Lemieux!
my first show was 76 and in hindsight those late 70's shows were charged for sure. one of the best periods. they now had kieth and donna, put out shakedown st, and terrapin station lps so no wonder truckin and casey were in the backseat. the energy from the drummers is what got me at first and later with some of the best solos ever. it was an incredible time for rock and roll period. what a gas..!!
Very cool! Thank you! Nice Portland knowledge as well man.
Hey now Nordy🙂 Looking forward to hanging out with you on tour ✌💗🎶
Dave’s picks vol 2 on vinyl!!!!!!!
Thanks Dave, I'm really excited for these next 4 releases this year
These are 2 great shows! I've had the Betty's for a long time except as you mentioned, the first couple tracks being audience.
Just purchased #45 can’t wait ….
You rock Dave! Love your energy man
I'm 53 years old and honestly can't imagine how 18- and 19-year-olds could have been into the Dead in the 1980s. They seemed impossibly old, self indulgent, and painfully boring. I was into punk rock and raw aggression. I actually admire the peaceful teen mindset that could have spawned such fandom. I despised the Dead at that time. It was only until 50 years old that I began to appreciate the band -- mostly the 71 to 77 period. Alas, better late than never.
Thank you Dave!!
Great job. Dave! What about 1970? What's in the vault. What's up with 1970? Talk about it , please.
Im the same way man, finally someone mentions 1970!
Exactly.
Much better. I can actually hear what you’re saying.
Ba kaw Ba kaw!
I can’t wait for this one!
The late 70's is one of my favorite eras.
Oh. The wind and waves 🌊
Can’t wait Dave
Late 77 had that special, natural energy from that special, helpful Colombian plant
There's a YT video (audio only) from 10-2-77 with Jerry snorting the stuff before he takes the stage.
I keep looking over my shoulder as these Picks are getting closer and closer to catching up with my age. Good choice! I've heard that 77 was a decent year.
If by decent, you mean considered one of their best years ever, than yes. Lol
Cold Rain & Surf
I pick you Dave. I pick you 😊
Got to Give it to The Grateful Dead - They've been Getting my $$$ since 1985 - Worth Every Penny _ Thanks Dave
dick s picks released again please for those of us who didn't buy them first time around 🙏 🇬🇧
Hi, thanks for sharing.⚡
That's really bold to open a show with an AUD patch on an official release. I fully approve! I'd also like to see them used more to patch cuts rather than substituting bits from a surrounding show or crossfading out the missing section entirely, even if in relatively low quality. I often choose matrix and circulating soundboard recordings over official releases while listening just for that actual 30 seconds. I can be a purist that way but within reason, I often won't mind if it's short patch in a non-jam song.
1976 Jerry played the Travis Bean, which had a plump, spikey tone and, I think played it a few times in 1977
There were multiple Travis Beans but the simple version is that Jerry played one with humbuckers from late '75 to around August '76, then one with single coils from then until the time of these Dave's Picks shows.
In 1949, Arlene met and married Harold Schnitzer (1923-2011), who worked at Schnitzer Steel Industries before founding Harsch Investment Properties in 1950. What a surprise.
Grateful
Nice talk! Learned a few things. Hey small potential correction..., isn't Truckin' part of the free Golden Gate Park show in 1975? True... it wasn't a tour show, but Truckin' did get played between '74 and Englishtown, NJ '77. By the way, I have and cherish a tape of 10/1/77 second set, and one of the things I love about Estimated, is that when Bobby sings "don't worry about me, no" or anytime he finishes a verse line with "no", Jerry plays the single note and just leaves it there... to linger, and linger, and fade away until he must play the rhythm (chords?) again. So smooth, so spacey. Love it! Unique to this late '77 era? Can't wait to hear these shows! Muchas Gracias de Nuevo Mexico!
Just got mine today. Listened to the first show. It was a good one, except the first minute or so of Dancin' needed more cowbell.
10:08 and Steve ,1 of the hardest songs ever to learn , touch of grey yo
77' Not a bum in the whole lot! Dave, Seattle July 79 is calling your name! Just for the transition from Truckin into round n' round alone justifies!
someday I hope others will find that Audience Recordings are actually far stronger copies of shows than soundboards
matrix tapes are the best of both worlds
Hey Dave, Salut de Montreal! Rawk on!
10-2-77 one of my favorite Scarlet-Fires.
Is bobs tape the source for the scarlet/fire side on the 1980 2 lp set HEAD TRIP
Do a show at So Many Roads museum and brewery. in Denver
On YT, there's a 10-2-77 pre-show interview Jerry gives where you can hear him snorting coke prior to taking the stage.
Had copies of these since 79... But not this quality ☺️
Dave you keep ignoring 7/13/84 do you have a issue with Greek Theatre shows so many wonderful shows!
Hi Dave, Where can I get one of those jumpers you are wearing? It looks awesome.
Section 119, a very cool Grateful Dead licensee.
Hey Dave 💀🌹⚡
Hello from Wisconsin. Where are you located and what product do you use for doing this film ? Thanks. Jeff in WI.
Hey now
1968-1971.
I buy very very few CD's. All my money goes to VINYL. I WANT IT ALL ON VINYL.
I don't have Cadillac with a deadhead stick on it and i can only afford so much music and i choose vinyl.
Portland, OR?
yes
Maybe this is how I can get students to come to my office hours . . .
Why are they so expensive and why don't you release enough of them that they don't sell out an hour later and immediately go on Ebay for a million dollars? Bonus discs? They're impossible to afford, so why not just include them with no exclusivity? The Good Ol' Grateful Dead would be shocked and dismayed at all this.
I've been giving this more thought. As far as the immersive experience of listening to a show on say Relisten or UA-cam or anywhere else, why would I want to purchase a CD? Say I'm driving. And I often don't have any help on my long road trips, so it's harder to swap out CDs then to stream a show. Or if I'm at home. I don't have a CD player, so it's not convenient for me to have CDs around. But there is nothing like the seamless quality of listening to a show without breaks. And if so much good music exists online for free...why would I want to pay money for about the same sound quality? Is this purely tapping into the collector-business? I've gotten other CDs from this and I actually didn't find the quality that good. They started skipping fairly quickly, which I was really surprised with given that the music is always so crystal clear on SiriusXM. Maybe I'm just too worried about finances. Maybe I don't want too many more "things". Maybe CDs are not my thing anymore.
Not new technology but you can always transfer the cd to a thumb drive or memory card . You are not only buying a cd here but support to the dead and rarities involved.
Canadian?
yes
What IS Dave’s “Last Name”?
I myself am hoping 10/30/77 being released

quick question, if you know 25k copies sells out in a few hours, why dont you run off more copies?
@@Spearca You are correct, sir.
@@Spearca got ya, thanks for the info.
They started out many years ago printing 12500. Now it’s up to 25000. But I’m sure that’s the peak.
Then they go on Ebay for a million dollars.
Got tired of him rambling about a minute into this and stopped watching.
Cool story.
