What about adding a Glide slope for RNAV and ILS approaches? That is the only thing holding me back from purchase is to be able to connect a GTN to the AV-30

I spoke to them at OSH and they said nothing for vertical guidance in the near future.

Could you guys visit the Talos booth and ilevil booth, I'm really curious about their autopilot.

I've seen this on a plane for sale and I was surprised at the price of the instrument. I think it's cool but I haven't flown with it to be sure I'd like it while in flight. At least it looks like a cool backup with all the info it can give, like an ISIS on airliners.

I love any & all competition for the “big guys” (starts with a G).

uAvionix doesn't count as competition for Garmin.

@@SwervingLemon It does to a lot of people who don't have the $$$ Garmin. To each his own.

Yeah, as much as I like Uavionics, they aren’t even close to competing with Garmin. Garmin are extortionists but their stuff works and is reliable.

@@Blackcloud_Garage That's the point. uAvionix isn't eating into Garmin's market. They're serving (almost) the market that wasn't going to buy Garmin products anyway. I wish their gear performed better. I'd still be installing it. Edit: Never mind - I see from the other comment that you're feeding GPS.

Is this hardware for tracking & finding lost or crashed aircraft?

Maybe you guys could ask uAvionix why it is they can ship 1000s of tail beacons but cannot finish up the simple SkyLight nav/strobe they have been promising us for over 36 months. I'd like to hear what lie they have now.

The answer to your problem is simple: buy something else from a different vendor. If you paid upfront, ask for a refund and move on.
I build packaging equipment for a living. Many of my trusted vendors have been unable to deliver product over the past couple years. I’ve had to rethink things and research alternatives that fit my needs and purchase parts and materials from different suppliers
My world doesn’t stop because I can’t get materials from a preferred supplier.
If you’re allowing yours to do so because of supply chain issues……it’s on you.
Everything I’ve ordered from uAvionx has been delivered promptly and have zero issues with their customer service.
      Sorry you’ve had bad experience

@@gibbeys It's not that simple. Many of us bought the skybeacon because we were told there was a complete package, left AND right side replacements. I had a balky strobe power supply (again). With the skybeacon and skylight I would get LED strobes, so I got rid of the bulky power supply and wiring and replaced the left with the skybeacon and the right with the old green nav light I had. No strobes but we were told the skylight would be ready in 6 mo. I could live with that. Fast forward years now and still no skylight. If I had known I would have gone with one of the other solutions for ADSB. Total cost would have been basically a wash.
My choice now is to continue to fly with out strobes. Or do some bastard setup with a whelen or aero right side with strobe and keep the skybeacon for the left but I have no idea if that would play well running power from the same strobe on/off switch. The other option is to ditch the skybeacon and replace the ADS-B out or transponder with a new ADSB-out and add led strobes - $$$ for that plus the down time dealing with avionics shops.
Bottom line uAvonix screwed us over with the skybeacon/skylight combo.

@@gibbeys I think your in the minority. Almost everyone I have spoken to has had issues with some aspect of their purchase. I waited nearly 3 months for an av20 pre pandemic.
They seem to have problems managing their production and or cash flow problems.
That said the av20 is great and I would recommend it even though it’s not perfect.

@@nickr5658 again sorry you’re having problems.
We purchased a Tailbeacon from them shortly after they became available for certified aircraft. No issues.
We traded up to the Tailbeacon X and two AV30’s, I had them in my hands is less than 4 days after ordering.
I received my refund for my traded in Tailbeacon a week after I shipped it back.
They have answered all my questions promptly……
      I still have zero complaints.

Got that AV30 in plane i fly, biggest crap ever, I tought thats some Chinese cheap shit, you can forget about heading on that thing, needs adjustment every 3min

    • @gibbeys

      Really?
I’ve got two in my plane slaved to a very dated garmin 295 and seems to be dead on at all times. Perhaps they work better with supplemental equipment installed? My partners & I are very pleased with the AV30’s
We also installed a Tailbeacon X at the same time and couldn’t be happier. Ditching our obsolete transponder was unexpected bonus.

I’ve also had problems with the solid state gyros not working properly. Randomly when rolling in and out of turns (very rarely) the attitude indicator is lagging. Called Uavionics and they didn’t have a solution but said it was a know issue.
The product is great other than it’s not something you can trust your life on. I’m actually surprised it’s certified.

I got mine installed a few weeks ago. I just got back from a 3.9hr flight and the most precession I got was 3° per hour… much better than my old DG that I had to adjust every 10-15mins.

    • @SwervingLemon

@@gibbeys They ONLY seem to work if they have supplemental data, and the magnetometer still isn't certified.
Most of the reviews for them on sites like Spruce are people complaining that it precesses wildly. It's the only device I've ever refunded.
Ours is an early version running the latest software, so there might have been a hardware change at some point that made it better, but it's unusable in it's current state.
