Thanks for posting this. My new lever was too long and there was no way to get it through the loop without trimming it. Trimming it should have been common sense to me and you saved the day. Thank you!
I put a regular metal handle on a Mansfield flush valve and I had to use a wire tie to keep it in place, but then it needed to be manually pulled up or the water would keep running. Thanks to your video I am going straight to Ace and buying the correct flush handle.

My handle just broke about 30 minutes ago on New Year's Eve! I hope this is a good sign for a better year in 2022. This video is exactly what I need because my toilet is set up exactly the same way so at least something good came out of the situation.
Finally. I kept trying to use a toilet handle with a chain and connect the chain to the valve. Thanks! Oh, you might consider an affiliate link in the comments!
Thank you for the video! I had my replacement part directly from Mansfield and was struggling to see how it was supposed to fit together (and couldn't reference the old one since it snapped). With this as a reference I successfully replaced it!
@@handymanreality The angle of the handle is pushing the tower. The tower is perfect. I really don't under the problem. The old handle is broke by the threads and needed to be replaced.
Thank you for this video. I have that exact toilet handle and it broke. I cannot find a replacement though. I've looked at the big box stores, Ace hardwear, and even Amazon. Do you have a source I can order from?

Thanks I did exactly as you did Iused the masfied handle 9 inch it was hard to put through the hole bue I got it it flushes find but now the toilet back bowl won't refill
If the tank will not fill then the tower is not seating freely enough if the bowl does not fill then the fill hose is not attached to the center top of the flush tower.
As long as the seal works and the actual flush of the water works well I see no reason to get stuck on the handle not resting completely straight or level. These towers can be challenging though once you get it right it works that way for a very long time.
@@handymanreality thank you! One toilets driving me mad. First it was the flush valve seal, then fill valve, now some phantom flushing. Hopefully a new flush valve and handle does the trick.
Hmm, strange problem as I am not able to make any of my toilets do that. When you reach in and move the tower top up and down and around as much as the handle arm permits can you feel or see what the tower is catching on?
@@stvenpettit518 I had this problem and needed to bend the handle arm so there wasn't pressure between the handle and the loop it went through on the flush valve.
Jesus Christ thanks I was like what in the hell??? There’s no friggin chain?? It was pissing me off lol now I see. You just gotta bend ‘er on in there.
Often I find it can take some fiddling around to get things working smoothly. Try turning the tower just a little bit at a time in an effort to find a sweet spot..
Just bought my first place and I have this same toilet in the half baths. My problem is it won't flush unless I hold down the handle for a long time. is there a way to correct this issue that anyone knows of please
What's an ideal lever for this toilet? I've gotten several levers and all have broken, bent, or just don't have the strength to even lift the flush valve.
Aye! You did manage to slither it into place, yes? So, you all locked & loaded ready to go, yes? Good job! Time for a nice relaxing celebratory beverage?

Sure trimming it could be a solution. Good job being innovative!
How do you trim it?
@@liveitgiveit2676I would assume hacksaw. Wend to Menards for a replacement today and “hacksaw” was in the list of “tools needed for installing” 😭😭

If I didn’t click this, I’d never have known it’s righty-loosey, lefty-tighty for toilets 😅
It is kinda crazy huh?
I just replaced mine thanks to your video! Thanks so much!
Same problem as is mentioned in comments. I have to push the tower down. This is supposed to be simple, not frustrating. Handle won't let tower down.
Something is binding then. Eliminate the handle until you sort out getting the tower to function properly then reinstall with the handle.

Is it ok if the handle isn’t completely straight? Seems like it needs to be at a little bit of an angle for the flush valve to seal securely.
As long as the seal works and the actual flush of the water works well I see no reason to get stuck on the handle not resting completely straight or level.

Hello...I’m trying to replace my lever just like you did but it won’t go back down after I flush! Please HELP! Thank you so much!!!!
Hmm, strange problem as I am not able to make any of my toilets do that.

No I have to manually pull the handle up to make the valve close in the toilet....
I also bought a lever that’s compatible to the Mansfield toilet so I’m not sure if that makes a difference

So make sure the nut has made the left hand turn, then work on fitting it to the plunger

I do my best to only get a bonafide Mansfield lever from an actual plumbing supplier that carries the brand such as Emco in Canada.
Thanks!

Do you have the model number for the lever?
The replacement we most often use is "model 41CH-P Toilet Tank Trip Lever" from Mansfield. The arm portion is 9 1/2" long.
Thanks
Makes me wish I had a chain toilet, it was pretty annoying getting that thing in the hole

Very hard to hear you.
Mansfield toilets are trash!
Can't get parts, if you find parts they don't fit.
Junk!!
I'm ripping mine out!!
